Standards Conformity Framework in comparison with contemporary methods supporting standards application
PublikacjaAchieving and assessing conformity with standards and compliance with various sets of requirements generates significant costs for contemporary economies. Great deal of this is spent on fulfilment of safety and security requirements. However, standards application is not supported sufficiently by the tools available on the market. Therefore, Standards Conformity Framework (SCF) containing methods and tools which provide support...

Proof of Concept of Indoor Location System Using Long RFID Readers and Passive Tags
PublikacjaThe paper proposes a system for persons and objects location with the use of long radio-frequency identifications (RFIDs) readers. In order to investigate all aspects of the proposed location system, several key elements had to be analyzed, including the distance from which the tagged objects and the possibility of using more than one tag within one RFID range at the same time. When designing the system, it is also necessary to...

Measurements of guided wave propagation in CFRP/steel adhesive joints obtained by scanning laser vibrometry
Dane BadawczeThe DataSet contains guided wave signals measured in adhesive joints of steel plates (steel of type S355 with a thickness of 11.9 mm ) and carbon fibre reinforced polymer (CarboDur S1012 with a thickness of 1.24 mm). The samples were as follows: #0 – intact; #1 – 10% disbond; #2 – 20% disbond; #3 – 50% disbond; #4 – 80% disbond; #5 – 100% disbond.

Fatigue behaviour of SLM maraging steel under variable-amplitude loading
PublikacjaOne of the most challenging issues for additive manufactured materials is fatigue endurance. Engineering components often operate under complex, variable amplitude loadings, in which existing technological imperfections promote fatigue cracks growth and damage of elements eventually. In this study the effects of different variable-amplitude strain levels on fatigue life, 18Ni300 steel was tested. The work presents various behaviours...

Can augmented democracy fulfil the ideal of deliberative democracy?
PublikacjaNew technologies can broaden the scope of human limits. We can fly to the moon thanks to rocket science, we can communicate with each other by mobile phones and WiFi and we can exceed human life with medical equipment like pacemakers. But there are aspects of our life that still are very distrustful of implementing new technology into functioning. An example of such a field of our everyday life is...

Optymalizacja parametrów pracy siłowni osiągającej zaawansowane super ultrandkrytyczne parametry pary świeżej oraz modyfikacje obiegu parowego pozwalające zwiększyć jego sprawność
PublikacjaW niniejszym artykule przedstawiono metody optymalizacji parametrów siłowni osiągającej zaawansowane super ultranadkrytyczne parametry pary. Stworzono modele obliczeniowe trzech nadkrytycznych obiegów parowych: z pojedynczym przegrzewam międzystopniowym, z podwójnym przegrzewem międzystopniowym oraz „Master Cycle". Zaprezentowano wpływ dodatkowego przegrzewu międzystopniowego i konfiguracji Master Cyde na sprawność obiegu parowego....

Estimation of interior-permanent-magnet-synchronous-motor rotor position by analysis of phase-current derivatives
PublikacjaThis paper describes an algorithm for estimation of IPMSM rotor angular position. The algorithm uses derivatives of motor phase currents resulting from PWM modulation to obtain the rotor position. The presented method is designed for medium- and high-speed range, since it is based on determination of the EMF vector. Calculation of the motor position is performed in every PWM cycle. The standard SV-PWM method is used to determine...

Design analysis of Tesla micro-turbine operating on a low-boiling medium
PublikacjaThis paper presents results of the design analysis of a Tesla bladeless turbine intended for a co-generating micro-power plantof heat capacity 20 kW, which operates in an organic Rankine cycle on a low-boiling medium. Numerical calculations of flowin several Tesla turbine models were performed for a range of design parameters. Results of investigations exhibit interestingfeatures in the distribution of flow parameters within the...

Carbon Dioxide Recovery Skid
PublikacjaIn the face of tightening climate regulations, the adoption of carbon dioxide recovery systems is inevitable. Modular process skid units have been widely adopted across the industry. The gas-steam power plant skid unit with the carbon dioxide recovery system was described. The proposed skid module consists of the compact cycle with the oxy-combustion and the carbon dioxide capture skid unit producing pure compressed CO2. The compactness...

Supervisory fuzzy control system for biological processes in sequencing wastewater batch reactor
PublikacjaThe paper proposes the design of the supervisory heuristic fuzzy control system applied to a Sequencing Batch Reactor (SBR) in the Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP). Based on real data records and the biological process and aeration system models, a control system for biological processes has been designed. The supervisory control system performs management of the reactor work cycle, determines the phase length, controls the sludge...

Asymptotic Expansion Method with Respect to Small Parameter for Ternary Diffusion Models
PublikacjaTernary diffusion models lead to strongly coupled systems of PDEs. We choose the smallest diffusion coefficient as a small parameter in a power series expansion whose components fulfill relatively simple equations. Although this series is divergent, one can use its finite sums to derive feasible numerical approximations, e.g. finite difference methods (FDMs).

Low and high energy explosive materials used in shale gas recovery
PublikacjaNowadays the explosives are widely used in many areas of life, including industry and mining. A wide range of explosive materials is used in the petroleum industry - from low to high explosives. Recently, as the unconventional oil and gas production became possible, explosives are also found to be used in perforators during the pre-completion stage of the fracturing process. This paper presents literature on theoretical and practical...

HYBRID ENERGY SYSTEM FOR A CLASSIC SHIP POWER PLANT
PublikacjaThe article presents a brief overview of hybrid energy systems used on ships. The area of their application is outlined. The benefits of using such systems are also indicated. Then, the classic ship power plant is defined. The most important part of the article is a proposal how to modify a classic engine room by using a hybrid energy system. The idea is: to accumulate a part of electricity in areas where it is allowed to burn...
