Influence of accelerometer signal pre-processing and classification method on human activity recognition
PublikacjaA study of data pre-processing influence on accelerometer-based human activity recognition algorithms is presented. The frequency band used to filter-out the accelerometer signals and the number of accelerometers involved were considered in terms of their influence on the recognition accuracy. In the test four methods of classification were used: support vector machine, decision trees, neural network, k-nearest neighbor.

Accelerating Video Frames Classification With Metric Based Scene Segmentation
PublikacjaThis paper addresses the problem of the efficient classification of images in a video stream in cases, where all of the video has to be labeled. Realizing the similarity of consecutive frames, we introduce a set of simple metrics to measure that similarity. To use these observations for decreasing the number of necessary classifications, we propose a scene segmentation algorithm. Performed experiments have evaluated the acquired...

Viewpoint independent shape-based object classification for video surveillance
PublikacjaA method for shape based object classification is presented.Unlike object dimension based methods it does not require any system calibration techniques. A number of 3D object models are utilized as a source of training dataset for a specified camera orientation. Usage of the 3D models allows to perform the dataset creation process semiautomatically. The background subtraction method is used for the purpose of detecting moving objects...

Pose classification in the gesture recognition using the linear optical sensor
PublikacjaGesture sensors for mobile devices, which have a capability of distinguishing hand poses, require efficient and accurate classifiers in order to recognize gestures based on the sequences of primitives. Two methods of poses recognition for the optical linear sensor were proposed and validated. The Gaussian distribution fitting and Artificial Neural Network based methods represent two kinds of classification approaches. Three types...

Combined method of multibeam sonar signal processing and image analysis for seafloor classification
PublikacjaThe combined approach to seafloor characterisation was investigated. It relies on calculation of several descriptors (parameters) related to seabed type using three types of multibeam sonar data obtained during seafloor sensing: 1) the grey-level sonar images (echograms) of seabed, 2) the 3D model of the seabed surface which consists of bathymetric data, 3) the set of time domain bottom echo envelopes received in the consecutive...

Improving the Accuracy in Sentiment Classification in the Light of Modelling the Latent Semantic Relations
PublikacjaThe research presents the methodology of improving the accuracy in sentiment classification in the light of modelling the latent semantic relations (LSR). The objective of this methodology is to find ways of eliminating the limitations of the discriminant and probabilistic methods for LSR revealing and customizing the sentiment classification process (SCP) to the more accurate recognition of text tonality. This objective was achieved...

Deep CNN based decision support system for detection and assessing the stage of diabetic retinopathy
PublikacjaThe diabetic retinopathy is a disease caused by long-standing diabetes. Lack of effective treatment can lead to vision impairment and even irreversible blindness. The disease can be diagnosed by examining digital color fundus photographs of retina. In this paper we propose deep learning approach to automated diabetic retinopathy screening. Deep convolutional neural networks (CNN) - the most popular kind of deep learning algorithms...
