On doubts about Mott-Schottky plot of organic planar heterojunction in photovoltaic cell

The field–dependent interface recombination velocity for organic–inorganic heterojunction
PublikacjaWe have derived an analytical formula which describes the field–dependent interface recombination velocity for the boundary of two materials characterized by different permittivities. The interface recombination of charge carriers has been considered in the presence of image force Schottky barrier. We suggest that this effect may play an important role in the loss of current for organic–inorganic hybrid heterojunctions. It has...

Analysis of higher recombination orders in organic bulk heterojunction solar cells
PublikacjaRecently, it has been experimentally demonstrated that an order of nongeminate recombination exceeds two in some types of organic bulk heterojunction donor-acceptor structures. This result is different than for the case of bimolecular recombination described by Langevin theory. Although several theoretical explanations of this effect have been presented, the origin of higher recombination orders is still questionable. In this work,...

High order of nongeminate recombination in organic bulk heterojunction solar cells
PublikacjaWe analyze high order of nongeminate recombination in organic donor–acceptor bulk heterojunction solar cells. The model of recombination where an exciton annihilates on an electron–hole Langevin bound pair near donor–acceptor interface has been applied in our studies. We obtained satisfactory agreement between experimental results and theoretical calculations for the concentration dependences of several parameters characterizing...

Four-body recombination in organic bulk heterojunction solar cells: an alternative interpretation
PublikacjaWe demonstrate a new interpretation of the previously reported quadrimolecular recombination in organic bulk heterojunction solar cells. It is suggested that the recently described (Szmytkowski 2012 Phys. Status Solidi RRL 6 300) interaction between exciton and electron–hole Langevin bound pair formed across the donor–acceptor interface is a four-particle process. This is in opposition to the treatment of this effect as a three-particle...

Modification of current-voltage characteristics of planar organic systems by nm-thick interlayer
PublikacjaEffect of nm-thick interlayer of copper phthalocyanine (CuPc) or perylene dye (MePTCDI) on current-voltage characteristics of planar organic systems is discussed in the work. The MePTCDI layer strongly limits injection of holes from ITO into CuPc, while CuPc limits injection of electrons from ITO into MePTCDI. In the systems with CuPc/MePTCDI heterojunction an explicit photovoltaic effect occurs.

Nongeminate recombination in organic bulk heterojunction solar cells: Contribution of exciton–polaron interaction
PublikacjaA new model to explain nongeminate recombination in organic bulk heterojunction solar cells is presented. We suggest that the annihilation of excitons on charge carriers at the interface between donor and acceptor phases competes with the bimolecular recombination of Coulombically bound electron–hole pairs. The exciton–polaron interaction gives visible contribution to the reduction of Langevin recombination. An analytical formula,...

Analysis of the image force effects on the recombination at the donor-acceptor interface in organic bulk heterojunction solar cells
PublikacjaWe consider the influence of image force effects on the recombination at the donor-acceptor interface in organic bulk heterojunction solar cells. The conclusion is that the charge carriers of one sign located in the material with lower permittivity recombine at the boundary between donor and acceptor phases. This process competes with the recombination of opposite sign charge carriers, leading to the reduction of the Langevin-type...

On the tendency of temperature and electric field dependences of interface recombination in P3HT:PCBM organic bulk heterojunction solar cells
PublikacjaWe demonstrate theoretical explanation of the temperature and electric field dependences of recombination coefficients in an organic P3HT:PCBM bulk heterojunction solar cell. Based onthe model of interface recombination, two analytical formulas describing the relative ratio of the interface (γI ) to the Langevin (γL) recombination coefficients have been derived. Our analysis indicates that the sign of parameters φT and φF determines...

Hybrid P3HT: PCBM/GaN nanowire/Si cascade heterojunction for photovoltaic application
PublikacjaPoly(3-hexylthiophene) (P3HT) and phenyl-C61-butyric acid methyl ester (PCBM) are commonly used for the fabrication of organic photovoltaics (OPV). Efficiency limitations of OPVs could be circumvented by incorporation of inorganic nanostructures into organic blends. Again, integration of organic solar cells with well-developed silicon photovoltaic technology is ultimately desirable. In present work, GaN nanowires with diameters...

Influence of dipoles on the recombination in organic photovoltaic devices
PublikacjaAlthough organic compounds are promising materials to use them in photovoltaic devices, the efficiencies of organic solar cells are still lower in comparison to inorganic photocells. The recombination of charge carriers leads to the loss of photocurrent, therefore a detailed theoretical description of this process is required. In the present work, an influence of interface dipoles on the recombination process is discussed. We show...

These muscle models allow us to simulate a behaviour of short fusiform muscle (3DOF...

Nonlinear Interaction of Modes in a Planar Flow of a Gas with Viscous and Thermal Attenuation
PublikacjaThe nonlinear interaction of wave and non-wave modes in a gas planar flow are considered. Attention is mainly paid to the case when one sound mode is dominant and excites the counter-propagating sound mode and the entropy mode. The modes are determined by links between perturbations of pressure, density, and fluid velocity. This definition follows from the linear conservation equations in the differential form and thermodynamic...
