Inhibitory mikrotubul w terapii przeciwnowotworowej = Inhibitors of microtubule in cancer therapy
PublikacjaW artykule opisano inhibitory mikrotubul, różnorodne związki chemiczne, znajdujące się w zaawansowanych przedklinicznych i wstępnych badaniach klinicznych. Pośród nich na uwagę zasługują półsyntetyczne analogi taksolu, substancje pochodzenia naturalnego, takie jak: epotilony, kombretastatyny, kolchinoidy, dolastatyny oraz syntetyczne związki o niskim ciężarze czasteczkowym: heterokombretastatyny, sulfonamidy, fenostatyny, pochodne...

H2AX phosphorylation, its role in DNA damage response and cancer therapy
PublikacjaDouble-strand breaks (DSBs) are the most deleterious DNA lesions, which, if left unrepaired, may have severe consequences for cell survival, as they lead to chromosome aberrations, genomic instability, or cell death. Various physical, chemical, and biological factors are involved in DSB induction. Cells respond to DNA damage by activating the so-called DNA damage response (DDR), a complex molecular mechanism developed to detect...

Predictions of cervical cancer identification by photonic method combined with machine learning
PublikacjaCervical cancer is one of the most commonly appearing cancers, which early diagnosis is of greatest importance. Unfortunately, many diagnoses are based on subjective opinions of doctors—to date, there is no general measurement method with a calibrated standard. The problem can be solved with the measurement system being a fusion of an optoelectronic sensor and machine learning algorithm to provide reliable assistance for doctors...

The Influence of Antitumor Unsymmetrical Bisacridines on 3D Cancer Spheroids Growth and Viability
PublikacjaThe culture of 3D spheroids is a promising tool in drug development and testing. Recently, we synthesized a new group of compounds, unsymmetrical bisacridines (UAs), which exhibit high cytotoxicity against various human cell lines and antitumor potency against several xenografts. Here, we describe the ability of four UAs—C-2028, C-2041, C-2045, and C-2053—to influence the growth of HCT116 and H460 spheres and the viability of HCT116...

Growth inhibition of cultured cancer cells by Ribes nigrum leaf extract
PublikacjaThe present article includes data on the possible selective cytotoxic effect of extract of Ribes nigrum L. growing at high Armenian landscape. For this purpose, different non-cancer (microglial BV-2 wild type (Wt), acyl-CoA oxidase 1 (ACOX1) deficient (Acox1-/-) and cancer (human colon adenocarcinoma HT29 and human breast cancer MCF7) cell lines were applied. R. nigrum leaf ethanol extract showed a growth inhibition effect towards...

A simple access to o-acyl bicyne
PublikacjaW publikacji przedstawiono prostą metodę otrzymywania o-acylowych pochodnych bicyny. Substratem do syntezy była n,n-bis(2-hydroksyetylo)glicyna - bicyna. Bicynę najpierw przeprowadzano w ester benzylowy w reakcji z alkoholem benzylowym i kwasem p-toluenosulfonowym w temp. 75 st. C. Tak otrzymany związek, acylowano kwasami organicznymi w obecności DCC ( dicyklokeksylokarbodiimid)i DMAP (dimetyloaminopirydyna), otrzymując o-acylowe...

Resistance of human prostate carcinoma cells to a new antitumor compound capridine beta is associated with changed drug metabolism combined with both inherent and drug-induced overexpression of ABC transporters

From chemoresistance to cancer stem cells: the case of BRCP/ABCG2 half transporter

Can popular films instil carcinophobia? Images of cancer in popular Polish cinema
PublikacjaIntroduction: Although cancer is currently considered a serious socio-medical challenge and health education in Poland has been positioned as a public health priority, the impact of popular culture on people’s ideas about cancer has been neglected. This study therefore aims to analyse the way popular Polish films portray cancer and the experience of cancer.Material and Methods: Seven popular Polish films featuring cancer...

Quinoline-based thiazolyl-hydrazones target cancer cells through autophagy inhibition
PublikacjaHeterocyclic pharmacophores such as thiazole and quinoline rings have a significant role in medicinal chemistry. They are considered privileged structures since they constitute several Food and Drug Administration (FDA)-approved drugs for cancer treatment. Herein, we report the synthesis, in silico evaluation of the ADMET profiles, and in vitro investigation of the anticancer activity of a series of novel thiazolyl-hydrazones based...

Environmental exposure to cadmium in breast cancer – association with the Warburg effect and sensitivity to tamoxifen
PublikacjaThe association between cadmium and breast cancer remains unexplained due to inconsistent epidemiological data and unknown underlying mechanisms. This study aimed to assess the relationship between environmental exposure to cadmium and the Warburg effect in breast cancer and, thus, its possible interference with breast cancer treatment. The observational study in two groups of breast cancer patients indicated a positive correlation between...

Melanoma skin cancer detection using mask-RCNN with modified GRU model
PublikacjaIntroduction: Melanoma Skin Cancer (MSC) is a type of cancer in the human body; therefore, early disease diagnosis is essential for reducing the mortality rate. However, dermoscopic image analysis poses challenges due to factors such as color illumination, light reflections, and the varying sizes and shapes of lesions. To overcome these challenges, an automated framework is proposed in this manuscript. Methods: Initially, dermoscopic...

Deep Learning-Based, Multiclass Approach to Cancer Classification on Liquid Biopsy Data
PublikacjaThe field of cancer diagnostics has been revolutionized by liquid biopsies, which offer a bridge between laboratory research and clinical settings. These tests are less invasive than traditional biopsies and more convenient than routine imaging methods. Liquid biopsies allow studying of tumor-derived markers in bodily fluids, enabling the development of more precise cancer diagnostic tests for screening, disease monitoring, and...
