DNA restriction analysis as a supportive tool in mechanistic studies carried out by 32P-postlabelling
PublikacjaNumerous antitumor and carcinogenic compounds are able to modify DNA by forming covalent bonds with its constituents, while some anticarcinogenic compounds are known to prevent such a modification. All these processes are of vital biological import_ance, though deeper inside into factors influencing formation of DNA adducts is difficult due to the low level of their occurrence. 32P-Postlabelling approach ensures very sensitive...

Effects of metallic silver particles on resonance energy transfer between fluorophores bound to DNA.
PublikacjaZbadano wpływ filmów wysepek metalicznego srebra na rezonansowe przekazywanie energii między fluoroforami związanymi z DNA. Donorem i akceptorem były odpowiednio 4´,6 diamidyno-2-fenylindon i jodek propydyny. Zmierzone dla tego układu czasy zaniku i widma fluorescencji pokazują, że sąsiedztwo cząstek srebra dramatycznie zwiększa promień Forstera, a tym samym i przekazywanie energii w znakowanym DNA.

Effect of osmolytes of different type on DNA behavior in aqueous solution. Experimental and theoretical studies
PublikacjaOsmolytes, the small organic molecules accumulated in cells under environmental stress, can modulate the stability of biopolymers such as proteins and DNA. In spite of many years of research, there is no established molecular mechanism of the influence of osmolytes on DNA structure. Here, we used two model osmolytes that denature (urea) or stabilize (trimethylglycine, TMG) proteins to study their effect on DNA in aqueous solutions...
