Non-monotone graph searching models
PublikacjaGraph searching encompasses a variety of different models, many of which share a property that in optimal strategies fugitive can never access once searched regions. Monotonicity, as it is called, is vital in many established results in the field however its absence significantly impedes the analysis of a given problem. This survey attempts to gather non-monotone models, that are less researched in effort of summarizing the results...

Melody Harmonization with Interpolated Probabilistic Models
PublikacjaMost melody harmonization systems use the generative hidden Markov model (HMM), which model the relation between the hidden chords and the observed melody. Relations to other variables, such as the tonality or the metric structure, are handled by training multiple HMMs or are ignored. In this paper, we propose a discriminative means of combining multiple probabilistic models of various musical variables by means of model interpolation....

Flow Process Models for Pipeline Diagnosis
PublikacjaThis chapter examines the problem of modeling and parameterization of the transmission pipeline flow process. First, the base model for discrete time is presented, which is a reference for other developed models. Then, the diagonal approximation (AMDA) method is proposed, in which the tridiagonal sub-matrices of the recombination matrix are approximated by their diagonal counterparts, which allows for a simple determination of...

Wpływ założeń modelu obliczeniowego na wyniki obliczeń hydrodynamicznych łożysk wzdłużnych = The influence of model simplifications on the predicted performance of hydrodynamic thrust bearings
PublikacjaPrzedstawiono porównanie wyników obliczeń hydrodynamicznych łożysk wzdłużnych otrzymanych z wykorzystaniem dwóch niezależnie opracowanych modeli obliczeniowych TEHD (termoelastohydrodynamicznych). Wykorzystane w obliczeniach programy różnią się głównie założeniami i uproszczeniami przyjętymi, zwłaszcza w odniesieniu do części przepływowej zadania. Symulacje obliczeniowe przeprowadzono stosując w przypadku obu modeli te same warunki...

Spektroskopia Bliskiej Podczerwieni NIR
PublikacjaSpektroskopia bliskiej podczerwieni (NIR) odgrywa coraz większą rolę w analizie ilościowej i jakościowej. Zaletami wykorzystywanej techniki NIR są: 1) nieniszczący, nieinwazyjny charakter analizy, 2) brak konieczności przygotowania próbki przed analizą, 3) prostota i szybkość wykonania rutynowej analizy, 4) wysoka czułość, 5) niski koszt, 6) uzyskanie kompleksowego obrazu badanego materiału, 7) zwiększenie bezpieczeństwa pracy...

Switched-capacitor DC-DC converters in arbitrary switching mode - topologically derived resistive models based on incremental graph approach.
PublikacjaIn the preceding paper we reviewed some of modeling approaches aimed at systematic formulation and solution of switched capacitor DC-DC converters. In our review, special attention was paid to computationally efficient and mathematically elegant methods. In so doing we had tried to demonstrate the virtues of unified Incremental Graph (IG) approach. Incremental Graph is, in concept, a tool originally created for analysis and synthesis...

Reduced-order models in the finite element analysis
PublikacjaA novel technique of incorporating macromodels into finite element electromagnetic analysis of waveguide components is presented. Macromodels are generated by using a model order reduction algorithm (ENOR), which results in significant decrease of the number of variables, that describe the computational region. Proposed technique allows for using a few independent macromodels as well as to duplicating one macromodel in many subregions...

Hybrid, Approximate Models of Distributed-Parameter Systems
PublikacjaThe paper introduces the method of distributed-parameter systems modelling. It enables to obtain low order modal model of the system that experiences Coriolis acceleration component and gyroscopic effect. In such cases, corresponding system equations are non-self-adjoined. To solve this problem modal reduced model is built up for the system without Coriolis acceleration or gyroscopic effect terms. These phenomena are next included...

Method of lines for physiologically structured models with diffusion
PublikacjaWe deal with a size-structured model with diffusion. Partial differential equations are approximated by a large system of ordinary differential equations. Due to a maximum principle for this approximation method its solutions preserve positivity and boundedness. We formulate theorems on stability of the method of lines and provide suitable numerical experiments.

Rothe’s method for physiologically structured models with diffusion

Hierarchical random models in road transport safety
PublikacjaIn this paper multilevel approach to the issue of road safety level on the road network of European regions, classified as NUTS 2 in statistical databases of the EU, has been presented. The risk calculated as the number of death casualties in road accidents per 100,000 inhabitants of a given region has Poisson distribution. Therefore, generalized Poisson model has been assumed in the modelling process. Multilevel stochastic analysis...
