PublicationThe synthesis of N-((methyl 5-deoxy-2,3-O-isopropylidene-β-D-ribofuranoside)-5-yl) ammonium salts are presented. To determine the effect of the nucleophile type and outgoing group on the quaternization reaction, selected aliphatic and heterocyclic aromatic amines reacted with: methyl 2,3-O-isopropylidene-5-O-tosyl-β-D-ribofuranoside or methyl 2,3-O-isopropylidene-5-O-mesyl-β-D -ribofuranoside or methyl 2,3-O-isopropylidene-5-O-triflyl-β-D-ribofuranoside...

Gas chromatographic determination of volatile aliphatic and selected aromatic amines, without derivatization: solid phase microextraction
PublicationW pracy opisano wykorzystanie techniki chromatografii gazowej do oznaczania śladowych stężeń lotnych amin alifatycznych i wybranych amin aromatycznych w próbkach o różnym składzie matrycy. W tym przypadku aminy nie podlegają procesowi derywatyzacji przed etapem końcowym a na etapie pobierania próbek analitów jest wykorzystana technika mikroekstrakcji do fazy stacjonarnej (SPME).

Novel amides of mycophenolic acid and some heterocyclic derivatives as immunosuppressive agents
PublicationThe group of new amide derivatives of mycophenolic acid (MPA) and selected heterocyclic amines was synthesised as potential immunosuppressive agents functioning as inosine-5'-monophosphate dehydrogenase (IMPDH) uncompetitive inhibitors. The synthesis employed uronium-type activating system (TBTU/HOBt/DIPEA) while or phosphonic acid anhydride method (T3P/Py) facilitating amides to be obtained in moderate to excellent yields without...

Naphthyl-vs. anthrylpyridine-2,6-dicarboxamides in cation binding studies. Synthesis and spectroscopic properties
PublicationPyridine-2,6-carboxamides bearing - or -naphthyl- and - or -anthryl- residues were prepared using simple method from pyridine-2,6-carboxylic acid dichloride and the respective aromatic amines. For the obtained receptors selective binding of lead(II), and copper(II) was found. Ion-receptor interactions were studied using UV-vis spectroscopy, spectrofluorimetry, 1H NMR, and FTIR spectroscopy. The reversible lead(II) and copper(II)...

A new tool for the evaluation of the analytical procedure: Green Analytical Procedure Index
PublicationA new means for assessing analytical protocols relating to green analytical chemistry attributes has been developed. The new tool, called GAPI (Green Analytical Procedure Index), evaluates the green character of an entire analytical methodology, from sample collection to final determination, and was created using such tools as the National Environmental Methods Index (NEMI) or Analytical Eco-Scale to provide not only general but...

Novel Research on Biomedical Polyurethanes
PublicationThe variety of mechanical properties characterizes properly designed PURs. They may be biocompatible and reveal compatibility with blood, making them attractive materials for the fabrication of tissue scaffolds; however, like all synthetic materials, PURs don’t reveal sufficient biocompatibility. PURs may undergo certain chemical modifications (e.g., 1,4:3,6-dianhydro-D-sorbitol, ascorbic acid (AA), growth factors, covering with...

On thio‐substituted N‐heterocyclic arsines
PublicationMetathesis of N-heterocyclic chloroarsines with sulfur-based nucleophiles furnished thio-substituted 1,3,2-diazarsolidines and 1,3,2-diazarsolenes. Crystallographic and NMR spectroscopic studies revealed that a thiocyanato-diazarsolene exhibits a salt-like structure composed of weakly interacting thiocyanate and arsenium ions, while the remaining products formed neutral molecules. The structural data indicate that the heterocyclic...

Isothiocyanates may chemically detoxify mutagenic amines formed in heat processed meat
PublicationMeat consumption represents a dietary risk factor increasing the incidence of common cancers, probably due to carcinogenic amines (HAAs) formed upon meat heating. Interestingly, cancers whose incidence is increased by meat consumption, are decreased in populations consuming brassica vegetables regularly. This inverse correlation is attributed to brassica anticarcinogenic components, especially isothiocyanates (ITCs) that stimulate...

Determination of biogenic amines in beers by LC-MS/MS
PublicationAnalysis of biogenic amines in beers was carried out by HPLC-MS/MS after their derivatization with p-toluenesulfonyl chloride (tosyl chloride). The developed method has been applied for analysis of eighteen biogenic amines in twelve samples of different kind of beers (Lager, Strong Lager, Schwarzbier, Weizenbier, Pils, nonalcoholic Pils, Stout). The method is sensitive and the results precise for majority of the analytes.

Determination of Biogenic Amines in Wine Using Micellar Electrokinetic Chromatography
PublicationProduction on a large-scale of fermented alcoholic drinks made from different kinds of fruits is carried out in homes. Although wine laws regulating home production exist, they do not include upper concentration limits of biogenic amines. Therefore, a quick and inexpensive way to determine BAs in wine is crucial. A new analytical method based on micellar electrokinetic chromatography has been developed for the separation of the...

Phosphinoborenium cations stabilized by N-heterocyclic carbenes: synthesis, structure, and reactivity
PublicationPhosphinoborenium cations stabilized by N-heterocyclic carbenes (NHCs) were synthesized via the reaction of bromo(phosphino)boranes with NHCs. Their structures were investigated by heteronuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, and density functional theory calculations. They possess a planar trigonal boron center directly bonded with the pyramidal phosphanyl group (PR2) and can be treated as cationic phosphinoboranes....

Application of chromogenic dye in biogenic amines determination using spectrophotometry
PublicationBiogenic amines content can be the source of information in the field of freshness and suitability of certain foods for consumption. However, most analytical methods for their determination require complicated sample preparation and expert knowledge. Because of that, a novel approach based on chromogenic dye application was proposed. After the SN1 reaction of an amine with S 0378 dye, the absorbance of the solution was measured...

Prediction of the Biogenic Amines Index of Poultry Meat Using an Electronic Nose
PublicationThe biogenic amines index of fresh chicken meat samples during refrigerated storage was predicted based on the headspace analysis using an electronic nose equipped with an array of electrochemical sensors. The reference biogenic amines index values were obtained using dispersive liquid–liquid microextraction–gas chromatography–mass spectrometry. A prototype electronic nose with modular construction and a dedicated sample chamber...

Development and validation of an LC–MS/MS method for the determination of biogenic amines in wines and beers
PublicationBiogenic amines are group of organic, basic, nitrogenous compounds that naturally occur in plant, microorganism, and animal organisms. Biogenic amines are mainly produced through decarboxylation of amino acids. They are formed during manufacturing of some kind of food and beverages such as cheese, wine, or beer. Histamine, cadaverine, agmatine, tyramine, putrescine, and b-phenylethylamine are the most common biogenic amines found...

Poultry meat freshness assessment based on the biogenic amines index
PublicationIn order to safeguard the well-being of the consumers, it is important to accurately determine the shelf life of poultry and poultry-based products. In this work, it was evaluated whether the measurement of the concentration of cadaverine, putrescine, histamine and tyramine can be used to assess the shelf-life of poultry meat stored in the different types of the containers. Based on the results it can be concluded that the collective...
