X-ray and UV Radiation Damage of dsDNA/Protein Complexes
PublicationRadiation and photodynamic therapies are used for cancer treatment by targeting DNA. However, efficiency is limited due to physico-chemical processes and the insensitivity of native nucleobases to damage. Thus, incorporation of radio- and photosensitizers into these therapies should increase both efficacy and the yield of DNA damage. To date, studies of sensitization processes have been performed on simple model systems, e.g.,...

Patterned protein microarrays for bacterial detection. Langmuir**2003 vol.19 s. 436-439, 5 rys. bibliogr. 25 poz. Specyficzne mikroukłady protein do wykrywania bakterii.

Polymeric porous membranes as solid support and protective material in microextraction processes: A review
PublicationPolymeric porous membranes have proven to be a versatile and efficient material for microextraction processes. In analytical practice, they are used both as a solid support and as a protective medium for improved sample preparation in various analytical applications. Polymeric porous membranes offer unique advantages in microextraction due to their large surface area and controllable pore size, eliminating interfering effects from...

Static headspace sampling and solid-phase microextraction for assessment of edible oils stability
PublicationStatyczna analiza fazy nadpowierzchniowej i mikroekstrakcja do fazy stacjonarnej z fazy nadpowierzchniowej zostały zastosowane do oznaczenia niskocząsteczkowych aldehydów - markerów procesu utleniania olejów roślinnych. Zoptymalizowano parametry izolacji i ekstrakcji analitów dla obu technik. Wyznaczono granice oznaczalności i wykrywalności oraz powtarzalność dla badanych związków. Obie metody zastosowano w analizie próbek olejów...

Microextraction Techniques Used in the Procedures for Determining Organomercury and Organotin Compounds in Environmental Samples
PublicationDue to human activities, the concentrations of organometallic compounds in all parts of the environment have increased in recent decades. The toxicity and some biochemical properties of mercury and tin present in the environment depend on the concentration and chemical form of these two elements. The ever-increasing demand for determining compounds at very low concentration levels in samples with complex matrices requires...

Integrating conventional nitrogen removal with anammox in wastewater treatment systems: Microbial metabolism, sustainability and challenges
PublicationThe various forms of nitrogen (N), including ammonium (NH4+), nitrite (NO2−), and nitrate (NO3−), present in wastewaters can create critical biotic stress and can lead to hazardous phenomena that cause imbalances in biological diversity. Thus, biological nitrogen removal (BNR) from wastewaters is considered to be imperatively urgent. Therefore, anammox-based systems, i.e. partial nitrification and anaerobic ammonium oxidation (PN/anammox)...

Deep eutectic solvents microbial toxicity: Current state of art and critical evaluation of testing methods
PublicationDeep eutectic solvents (DESs) were described at the beginning of 21st century and they consist of a mixture of two or more solid components, which gives rise to a lower melting point compared to the starting materials. Over the years, DESs have proved to be a promising alternative to traditional organic solvents and ionic liquids (ILs) due to their low volatility, low inflammability, easy preparation, and usually low cost of compounds...

LC-MS/MS dtermination of isoprostanes in plasma samples collected from mice exposed to doxorubicin or tert-butyl hydroperoxide
PublicationIsoprostanes are stable products of arachidonic acid peroxidation and are regarded as the most reliable markers of oxidative stress in vivo. Here we describe the LC-MS/MS procedure enabling simultaneous determination of four regioisomers (8-iso prostaglandin F2α, 8-iso-15(R)-prostaglandin F2α, 11β-prostaglandin F2α, 15(R)-prostaglandin F2α) in plasma samples collected from mice. The four plasma isoprostanes are determined by LC–ESI-MS/MS...

The research on properties of asphaltene stationary phase to separate mixtures of optically active compounds with the use of gas chromatography technique
PublicationW pracy przedstawiono wyniki badań nad możliwością zastosowania asfaltenów jako chiralnej fazy stacjonarnej do chromatografii gazowej. Wyniki uzyskane dla fazy asfaltenowej porównano z wynikami uzyskanymi poprzez zastosowanie komercyjnie dostępnej chiralnej fazy stacjonarnej. Badania wykazały, że frakcja asfaltenowa posiada właściwości umożliwiające uzyskanie rozdzielenia mieszanin związków optycznie czynnych.
