THE USE OF FEM FOR DETERMINATION OF RESONANT FREQUENCIES OF CIRCULAR SAW BLADES WITH INDIRECT TEETH IN GULLETS
PublicationUnderstanding the dynamical properties of the circular saw blade is necessary, since, there is a really need for a stable work at working rotational speeds, which are determined by frequencies at which the circular saw blade tends to vibrate. It was observed that the resonant frequency depend on the circular saw blade shape, a collar diameter and on saw’s teeth shape. In the presented work an attention was paid to the effect of...

Occurrence and seasonal variations of 25 pharmaceutical residues in wastewater and drinking water treatment plants
PublicationThousands of tons of pharmaceuticals are introduced into the aqueous environment due to their incomplete elimination during treatment process in wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) and water treat- ment plants (WTPs). The presence of pharmacologically active compounds in the environment is of a great interest because of their potential to cause negative effects. Furthermore, drugs can undergo different pro- cesses leading to the...

AN INNOVATIVE APPROACH TO PREDICTION ENERGETIC EFFECTS OF WOOD CUTTING PROCESS WITH CIRCULAR-SAW BLADES
PublicationIn the classical approach, energetic effects (cutting forces and cutting power) of wood sawing process are generally calculated on the basis of the specific cutting resistance, which is in the case of wood cutting the function of more or less important factors. The aim of the paper is to present a new calculating model using the application of modern fracture mechanics and to compare cutting parameters of native beech, Bendywood...

New approaches to cutting resistance estimation of wood cutting process with circular-saw blades
PublicationTheoretical and experimental determination of values of cutting resistance belongs to the basic and simultaneously the most developed field of mechanics of this process. Energetic effects of wood sawing process are mainly calculated on the basis of the specific cutting resistance which, in wood cutting, is a function on a lot of factors. In this paper new method for calculation of cutting resistance is described. The latter method...

Expedited EM-driven multi-objective antenna design in highly-dimensional parameter spaces
PublicationA technique for low-cost multi-objective optimization of antennas in highly-dimensional parameter spaces is presented. The optimization procedure is expedited by exploiting fast surrogate models, including coarse-discretization EM antenna simulations and response surface approximations (RSA). The latter is utilized to yield an initial set of Pareto non-dominated designs which are further refined using response correction methods....

An initial set of Pareto optimal solutions is found using a multi-objective evolutionary algorithm (MOEA) working with a fast surrogate antenna model obtained by kriging interpolation of coarse-discretization EM simulation data. To make the surrogate construction computationally feasible in multi-dimensional design space, the space subset containing non-dominated...

20+ years of Polish residential real estate prices – a house price index proxy
PublicationInformation on house prices is often considered crucial when assessing developments in economy. However, in Poland for the long time house prices haven’t been tracked in an organized manner. Recent developments, most notably house price indices developed by Poland’s national bank and by the statistical office do not go back more than 10 years, therefore data series are relatively short compared to those of other macroeconomic data. In...

Therefore to pre-select the conditions of the separation process the use of thin layer chromatography (TLC) is proffered. The possibility of proceeding the chromatographic process for several mixtures on single plate,...

Nauka w świecie cyfrowym okiem młodego inżyniera – proces i techniki uczenia
W niniejszym artykule...

A note on the Morse homology for a class of functionals in Banach spaces involving the 2p-area functional
PublicationIn this paper we show how to construct Morse homology for an explicit class of functionals involving the 2p-area functional. The natural domain of definition of such functionals is the Banach space W_0^{1,2p}(\Omega), where p > n/2 and \Omega \subet R^n is a bounded domain with sufficiently smooth boundary. As W_0^{1,2p}(\Omega) is not isomorphic to its dual space, critical points of such functionals cannot be non-degenerate...

Damage detection in 3D printed plates using ultrasonic wave propagation supported with weighted root mean square calculation and wavefield curvature imaging
Publication3D printing (additive manufacturing, AM) is a promising approach to producing light and strong structures with many successful applications, e.g., in dentistry and orthopaedics. Many types of filaments differing in mechanical properties can be used to produce 3D printed structures, including polymers, metals or ceramics. Due to the simplicity of the manufacturing process, biodegradable polymers are widely used, e.g., polylactide (polylactide...

Effect of Axial Porosities on Flexomagnetic Response of In-Plane Compressed Piezomagnetic Nanobeams
PublicationWe investigated the stability of an axially loaded Euler–Bernoulli porous nanobeam considering the flexomagnetic material properties. The flexomagneticity relates to the magnetization with strain gradients. Here we assume both piezomagnetic and flexomagnetic phenomena are coupled simultaneously with elastic relations in an inverse magnetization. Similar to flexoelectricity, the flexomagneticity is a size-dependent property. Therefore,...
