Dynamical description of quantum computing: generic nonlocality of quantumnoise
PublicationWe develop a dynamical non-Markovian description of quantum computing in the weak-coupling limit, in the lowest-order approximation. We show that the long-range memory of the quantum reservoir (such as the 1/t4 one exhibited by electromagnetic vacuum) produces a strong interrelation between the structure of noise and the quantum algorithm, implying nonlocal attacks of noise. This shows that the implicit assumption of quantum error...

Are the short cationic lipopeptides bacterial membrane disruptors? Structure-Activity Relationship and molecular dynamic evaluation
PublicationShort cationic lipopeptides are amphiphilic molecules that exhibit antimicrobial activity mainly against Grampositives. These compounds bind to bacterial membranes and disrupt their integrity. Here we examine the structure-activity relation (SAR) of lysine-based lipopeptides, with a prospect to rationally design more active compounds. The presented study aims to explain how antimicrobial activity of lipopeptides is affected by...

Usefulness of the PCR technique for bacterial DNA detection in blood of the patients after ''oppened heart'' operations.
PublicationOperacje kardiochirurgiczne w krążeniu pozaustrojowym (KPU) poprzez ogromny uraz, powodowanie występowania zaburzeń odporności oraz uszkodzenie barier anatomicznych stwarzają sytuację wybitnie sprzyjającą rozwojowi powikłań infekcyjnych u tych chorych. Prowadzenie terapii antybiotykowej profilaktycznej i leczniczej, a także selektywna dekontaminacja przewodu pokarmowego może utrudniać i przedłużać czas rozpoznania obecności bakterii...

Selection of optimal location and rated power of capacitor banks in distribution network using genetic algorithm
PublicationIn this paper, the problem of placement and rated power of capacitor banks in the Distribution Network (DN) is considered. We try to suggest the best places for installing capacitor banks and define their reactive power. The considered formulation requires the optimization of the cost of two different objectives. Therefore the use of properly multiobjective heuristic optimization methods is desirable. To solve this problem we use...

A novel genetic approach to provide differentiated levels of service resilience in IP-MPLS/WDM networks
PublicationThis paper introduces a novel class-based method of survivable routing for connection-oriented IP-MPLS/WDM networks, called MLS-GEN-H. The algorithm is designed to provide differentiated levels of service survivability in order to respond to varying requirements of end-users. It divides the complex problem of survivable routing in IP-MPLS/WDM networks into two subproblems, one for each network layer, which enables finding the...

Characterization of single-stranded DNA-binding proteins from the psychrophilic bacteria
PublicationSingle-stranded DNA-binding proteins (SSBs) are indispensable elements in the cells of all living organisms. SSB proteins interact with ssDNA insequence in an independent manner, preventing them from forming secondary structures and from degradation by nucleases. In this way, SSB-binding proteins participate in all processes involving ssDNA, such as replication, repair and recombination. Although there are differences in amino...
