A reactive algorithm for deducing nodal forwarding behavior in a multihop ad-hoc wireless network in the presence of errors
PublicationA novel algorithm is presented to deduce individual nodal forwarding behavior from standard end-to-end acknowledgments. The algorithm is based on a well-established mathematical method and is robust to network related errors and nodal behavior changes. The proposed solution was verified in a network simulation, during which it achieved sound results in a challenging multihop ad-hoc network environment.

THE INFLUENCE OF WATER-LAND RELATIONS ON THE LANDSCAPE AND ARCHITECTURE OF THE VISTULA DELTA (POLAND)
PublicationThe Vistula Delta is unique region of water domination. In this part of Europe, historic rural assumptions have been developing since the 12th century. Practically, it can be said that most of the systems were related to the coexistence of the human and the water element. Relations of water and land, developed specific types of villages such as a water-based village. Water landscape; polders, canals, dikes and rivers, hydro-technical...

L'humanisation de la justice criminelle dans la France desLumieres
PublicationIn pre-revolutionary France criminal justice is regulated by the Ordinance Louis XIV of 1670. This Ordinance provides for torture as the major method of investigation and for the death penalty as the most commonly used form of punishment. One of the major concerns of French eighteenthcentury philosophers is therefore a radical reform of criminal justice and its humanisation in the spirit of Enlightenment. Many philosophers take...

Simultaneous handover scheme for IEEE 802.11 WLANs with IEEE 802.21 tiggers
PublicationHandover performance in wireless networks is important, especially nowadays, when multimedia services are becoming increasingly available over the wireless devices. However, users expect uncompromised mobility when using the service. Thus, the support of multimedia services is not possible if handover is inefficient. At the same time it is clear that a strict separation between IP Layer and the Link Layer results in built-in sources...

Soil and groundwater fecal contamination as a result of sewage sludge land application.
PublicationThe release of sludge-born bacteria and their further transport in subsurface was studied. The migration of bacteria was investigated in column experiments which were carried out under the conditions corresponding to naturally occurring extreme rainfall. Coal fly ash as well as coarse and medium grained sand, which properties are similar to the soils present in degraded areas, were used as column beds. Sewage sludge was applied...

Management of seaport critical infrastructures of integrated sea-land transport chains
PublicationW morsko-lądowych łańcuchach transportowych logistyczne procesy integracyjne przebiegają pomiędzy trzema podstawowymi ogniwami: żeglugą morską, portami morskimi i transportem zaplecza.

A Test-Bed Analysis of Simultaneous PMIPv6 Handover in 802.11 WLANs Environment
PublicationProviding mobility in access networks is a challenge that we have to deal with. Due to networks’ convergence and migration to all-IP networks, mobility management at the network layer is required. However, there is a need for cooperation mechanisms between the network layer and lower layers to support multimedia services and make handover more efficient. This paper presents experimental research on simultaneous handover performance...

Low-Power Receivers for Wireless Capacitive Coupling Transmission in 3-D-Integrated Massively Parallel CMOS Imager
PublicationThe paper presents pixel receivers for massively parallel transmission of video signal between capacitive coupled integrated circuits (ICs). The receivers meet the key requirements for massively parallel transmission, namely low-power consumption below a single μW, small area of less than 205 μm2, high sensitivity better than 160 mV, and good immunity to crosstalk. The receivers were implemented and measured in a 3-D IC (two face-to-face...

PublicationMotywację stacji sieci lokalnej IEEE 802.11 do przeprowadzenia racjonalnego ataku na mechanizm MAC można wyrazić liczbowo jako punkt stały pewnego przekształcenia dwuwymiarowego. Model taki został następnie rozszerzony o możliwość stosowania przez stacje strategii wyrafinowanego przewidywania zachowań innych stacji. Pokazano, w jaki sposób wpływa to na przepustowość sieci i sprawiedliwość dostępu do medium transmisyjnego, uwzględniając...

APPLICATION OF SATELLITE IMAGERY AND GIS TOOLS FOR LAND SURFACE TEMPERATURE ESTIMATION AND VERIFICATION
PublicationLand surface temperature (LST) plays an important role in many land-surface processes on regional as well on global scales. It is also a good indicator of energy flux phenomena and is used as a parameter in various Earth observation related studies. However, LST estimation based on processing and utilisation of satellite derived data constitutes several problems in terms of time limitations, accessibility, atmospheric influence...

Heat transfer intensification by jet impingement – numerical analysis using RANS approach
PublicationJet impingement is a method of the heat transfer enhancement applied in the engineering systems. The idea is to generate fast-flow fluid jet which impinge on the heated (or cooled) surface, causing significantly higher heat transfer rate. Although some flat surface jet impingement cases are described in the literature, the validated data is still limited. The reason is coming from the fact, that these flows are hydrodynamically...

Fabrication and Structural Properties of LaNb 1‐x As x O 4 Ceramics
PublicationLanthanum niobate substituted with arsenic was synthesized by three methods: solid state reaction from binary oxides and two different methods combining co-precipitation and solidstate reaction. In the first of the combined methods LaNb1- xAsxO4 was synthesized from LaAsO4, obtained from coprecipitation method, and lanthanum and niobium oxides. In the second LaNbO4 was first synthesized from binary oxides and then mixed with LaAsO4...

Credibility of Threats to Jam Anonymous Traffic Remapping Attacks in Ad Hoc WLANs
PublicationIn ad hoc networks, selfish stations can pursue a better quality of service (QoS) by performing traffic remapping attacks (TRAs), i.e., by falsely assigning their traffic to a higher priority class, which can hurt honest stations’ QoS. To discourage the attackers, honest stations can announce their dissatisfaction with the perceived QoS. If such a threat fails, a costly data frame jamming defense can be launched. We analyze the...

Effects of beach wrack on the fate of mercury at the land-sea interface – A preliminary study
PublicationSince the 1970s, the amount of aquatic plants and algae debris, called beach wrack (BW), has increased along the shores of industrialised regions. The strong ability of primary producers to accumulate pollutants can potentially result in their deposition on the beach along with the BW. Despite that, the fate and impact of such pollutants on sandy beach ecosystems have not been investigated so far. This study examines the fate...

Accuracy of marine gravimetric measurements in terms of geodetic coordinates of land reference benchmark
PublicationThe article presents how the values of (3D) coordinates of land reference points affect the results of gravimetric measurements made from the ship in sea areas. These measurements are the basis for 3D maritime inertial navigation, improving ships' operational safety. The campaign verifying the network absolute point coordinates used as a reference point for relative marine gravity measurements was described. The obtained values...

This paper thus reviews a wide range of available scientific evidence concerning the impacts exerted by the forest removal on precipitation, water...

Dynamic Route Discovery Using Modified Grasshopper Optimization Algorithm in Wireless Ad-Hoc Visible Light Communication Network
PublicationIn recent times, visible light communication is an emerging technology that supports high speed data communication for wireless communication systems. However, the performance of the visible light communication system is impaired by inter symbol interference, the time dispersive nature of the channel, and nonlinear features of the light emitting diode that significantly reduces the bit error rate performance. To address these problems,...
