Biofilm formation and its regulation in Staphylococcus aureus
PublikacjaInfections caused by the major human and animal pathogen, Staphylococcus aureus are becoming an important problem due to its emerging resistance mechanisms and variety of virulence factors. Biofilm formation is considered to be one of the most important factor attributed to high pathogenicity of S. aureus. Described in the literature methods used in identification of biofilm forming abilities of bacteria consist of phenotypic and...

A note on compact and compact circular edge-colorings of graphs

The Corporate Museum: A New Type of Museum Created as a Component of Marketing Company
PublikacjaA new type of museum appeared – the corporate museum. The museum institution in this instance has been used as a new marketing device for building corporate identity strategies. Their inception is not based on the existing context of a place, but appears to be integrated with the corporate identity program, exposing the company’s values and philosophy. The corporate museums are thematic, commercial buildings, owned by a particular...

The project of pull system for storehouse and production line in a company provides electronics
PublikacjaThe chapter below presents how to reduced delivery of the material to production by using a "Kanban schedule board" and related tools from 48 hours and 59 minutes to 41 minutes in a company provides electronics. The solution was found through analysis of the current way of supplying stands and using Just In Time idea, the reduction of ''muda''. To solve the problem was used Kanban card", which has the shape of two triangles joined...

Nodal cooperation equilibrium analysis in multi-hop wireless ad hoc networks with a reputation system
PublikacjaMotivated by the concerns of cooperation security, this work examines selected principles of state-of-the-art reputation systems for multi-hop ad hoc networks and their impact upon optimal strategies for rational nodes. An analytic framework is proposed and used for identification of effective cooperation-enforcement schemes. It is pointed out that optimum rather than high reputation can be expected to be sought by rational nodes.

Route vertical alignment design in the process of its regulation

Route vertical alignment design in the process of its regulation

Keratin-Butyrate Scaffolds Promote Skin Wound Healing in Diabetic Rats Through Down-Regulation of IL-1β and Up-Regulation of Keratins 16 and 17
PublikacjaImpaired wound healing particularly in diabetics creates a significant healthcare burden. The study aimed to evaluate the effect of keratin-butyrate fibers (FKDP +0.1%NaBu) in a full-thickness skin wound model in 30 diabetic rats. Physicochemical examination showed that the obtained dressing possesses a heterogeneous structure and butyrate was slowly released into the wound. Moreover, the obtained dressing is nontoxic and supports...

Phosphorylation‐mediated regulation of heat shock response in Escherichia coli
PublikacjaEscherichia coli has two heat shock regulons under the transcriptional control of Esigma(32) and Esigma(E) RNA polymerases. These polymerases control the expression of genes, the products of which are needed for correct folding of proteins in the cytoplasm and the extracytoplasm respectively. In this study, we report that mutations in a tyrosine phosphatase-encoding gene led to decreased activity of these heat shock regulons. The...

Structure of the US investment company industry over the period 2000 to 2017: substitution analysis
PublikacjaOver the last years the investment company industry has undergone deep transformation in the majority of the most advanced economies, including the United States. Traditional investment companies, such as mutual funds, have lost their market share to innovative exchange-traded funds (ETFs). The main distinctive features of ETFs are listing and trading in their units on the stock exchanges as well as lower costs for investors. The...

COOPERATION BETWEEN UNIVERSITY AND EXTERNAL COMPANY IN ARCHITECTURAL INVENTORY USING INNOVATIVE MEASURING TECHNOLOGY
PublikacjaArchitectural inventories are the main field for using innovative technology ( remote sensing). The main purpose of using ie. Laser scanning or photogrammetry is to capture all of the important details of structure. Regarding the extents of inventory works, it may only apply to external details, such as facades, supporting structures and surroundings, whilst in terms of advanced inventory, the building's interior is also expected...

Compact satellite hydraulic unit
PublikacjaThe article describes the design and operation of a prototype hydraulic unit. It is based on an inversed kinematics, satellite pump in which the body rotates around the shaft. The pump is placed inside the electric motor. Thanks to that the compact and low mass construction was achieved. Thanks to new commutation unit with enlarged channels, lower pressure losses were obtained. The article presents the construction and results...

Network Approach to Increments of RR-intervals for Visualization of Dynamics of Cardiac Regulation
PublikacjaThe transition network for RR -increments is pre- sented in a directed and weighted graph, with vertices represent- ing RR -increments and edges corresponding to the order in a sequence of increments. The adjacency matrix and the transition matrix of this network provide a graphical tool which could be useful in the assessment of cardiac regulation. As an example, the method is applied in detecting differences between diurnal activity...

Epigenetic regulation and regeneration: the search for differentially methylated genes in the MRL mouse
PublikacjaThe MRL mouse is an inbred laboratory strain, which was developed in the 60’s of the 20th century and has been extensively used as a model of lupus erythematosus. The regenerative abilities of the strain were discovered in the 90' when the MRL mouse was shown to close 2 mm hole punches made in the ear pinnae four weeks after injury without scarring. The phenomenon has not been observed in other mouse strains, where the holes...

A new factor LapD is required for the regulation of LpxC amounts and lipopolysaccharide trafficking
PublikacjaLipopolysaccharide (LPS) constitutes the major component of the outer membrane and is essential for bacteria, such as Escherichia coli. Recent work has revealed the essential roles of LapB and LapC proteins in regulating LPS amounts; although, if any additional partners are involved is unknown. Examination of proteins co-purifying with LapB identified LapD as a new partner. The purification of LapD reveals that it forms a complex...
