Tożsamość architektury jako odpowiedź na kontekst funkcji i miejsca na przykładzie budynku muzeum = Identity of architecture as a response to the context of function and place on the example of museum building

The Ellenbogen's "Matter as Software" Concept for Quantum Computer Implementation: III. Selection of X@C60 Molecular Building Blocks (MBBs) for Tip-Based Nanofabrication (TBN) of Trapped Neutral Atom Quantum Computing Devices
PublicationThe selection of guest atoms X of X@C60 MBBs for TBN of trapped neutral atom quantum computing devices is reported. Assuming the all-optical quantum computing as a final target stage, the two criteria are most important: the charge q accumulated on the C60 host must be as low as possible, and the atom X must have one or more available excited states within the band falling into the low energy window of neutral C60 molecule electronic...

The Ellenbogen's "Matter as Software" Concept for Quantum Computer Implementation: II Bonding Between the C60 and X@C60 Molecules as Available Molecular Building Blocks (MBBs) for Tip-Based Nanofabrication (TBN) of Quantum Computing Devices
PublicationThe binding energy, BE of the X@C60-X@C60 homodimer and the X@C60-Y@C60 heterodimer resulting from the bond formation between the occupied X@C60 MBB and the C60 molecule was studied by means of semiempirical PM7 calculations, where X and Y denote atoms from H to Bi, excluding Tc and lanthanides. All possible combinations of N = 68 guest atoms were considered, which resulted in K = 2346 of different calculated dimers of (X@C60-Y@C60)...

Properties of an innovative multi-functional finish for the improvement of indoor air quality
PublicationDue to lifestyle changes, people spend most of their time indoors at present; thus, Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) is a matter of utmost importance. Multi-functional and innovative finishes can help to passively improve the IAQ, benefitting the health and comfort of occupants. For this study, reference and pre-mixed commercial mortars are compared to a new multi-functional hydraulic lime mortar for indoor finishes, in which conventional...

A framework for Air Quality Management Zones - Useful GIS-based tool for urban planning: Case studies in Antwerp and Gdańsk
PublicationThere is a growing recognition of the importance of proper urban design in the improvement of air flow and pollution dispersion and in reducing human exposure to air pollution. However, a limited number of studies have been published so far focusing on the development of standard procedures which could be applied by urban planners to effectively evaluate urban conditions with respect to air quality. To fill this gap, a new approach...

Exposure to cooking emitted volatile organic compounds with recirculating and extracting ventilation solutions
PublicationEnergy-efficient urban development leads to the compact design of apartments. Recirculating ventilation solutions are an attempt to minimize the space required for ventilation ducting, but more data on their performance are needed. Cooking is a major source of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) emissions. It is necessary to assess how well recirculating kitchen hoods perform in reducing the residents' exposure to cooking fumes compared...

Assessing historical church tower asymmetry using point cloud spatial expansion
PublicationChurch towers are key cultural heritage. In theory, towers are vertical, while facade elements are symmetrically positioned around the tower axis. However, during service of a structure, building and lifetime conditions cause deviations, with associated risks. Laser scanning point clouds can be used to assess the structural state but a universal approach was missing. The proposed algorithm first estimates the tower inclination,...
