Galerkin Finite Element Process for Entropy Production and Thermal Evaluation of Third-Grade Fluid Flow: A Thermal Case Study
Publication: A fluid’s moving class improves its heat transmission capability, as well as its rigidity, owing to multivariate molecule suspension. In this way, nanofluids are superior to common fluids. In this study, we evaluated the features of ease and heat transfer. Furthermore, we investigated permeable media, heat source, variable heat conductivity, and warm irradiation results. A mathematical technique known as the Galerkin finite element...

Comparison of anti-plane surface waves in strain-gradient materials and materials with surface stresses
PublicationHere we discuss the similarities and differences in anti-plane surface wave propagation in an elastic half-space within the framework of the theories of Gurtin–Murdoch surface elasticity and Toupin–Mindlin strain-gradient elasticity. The qualitative behaviour of the dispersion curves and the decay of the obtained solutions are quite similar. On the other hand, we show that the solutions relating to the surface elasticity model...

Transverse surface waves on a cylindrical surface with coating
PublicationWe discuss the propagation of transverse surface waves that are so-called whispering-gallery waves along a surface of an elastic cylinder with coating. The coating is modelled in the framework of linearized Gurtin–Murdoch surface elasticity. Other interpretations of the surface shear modulus are given and relations to so-called stiff interface and stiff skin model are discussed. The dispersion relations are obtained and analyzed.

Nonlinear Properties of Seawater as a Factor Determining Nonlinear Wave Propagation
PublicationTaking practical advantage of nonlinear acoustical interactions occurring in seawater [1, 2] requires knowledge of the parameter of nonlinearity B=A of this medium. In the few papers concerning that address the issue, results concerning ocean waters with high salinity and at large depths are given [3], while studies concerning seawater with low salinity...

Step on It Bringing Fullwave Finite-Element Microwave Filter Design up to Speed
PublicationThere are many steps in the design of a microwave filter: mathematically describing the filter characteristics, representing the circuit as a network of lumped elements or as a coupling matrix, implementing the distributed elements, finding the initial dimensions of the physical structure, and carrying out numerical tuning using electromagnetic (EM) simulators. The whole process is painstaking and time-consuming, and it requires...

Noise spectral density computation based on finite element model of piezoceramic sensor
PublicationThe high sensitivity with wide bandwidth is required for sensor applications in non-destructive testing (NDT). The sensitivity of piezoceramic sensors demands to minimize their noise especially thermal noise, polarisation noise and low frequency 1/f noise, which are the main sources of voltage or current fluctuation in this sort of sensors. For simplicity, only the piezoceramic part of sensor was under study. the theoretical and...

Optimal backbone coloring of split graphs with matching backbones
PublicationFor a graph G with a given subgraph H, the backbone coloring is defined as the mapping c: V(G) -> N+ such that |c(u)-c(v)| >= 2 for each edge uv \in E(H) and |c(u)-c(v)| >= 1 for each edge uv \in E(G). The backbone chromatic number BBC(G;H) is the smallest integer k such that there exists a backbone coloring with max c(V(G)) = k. In this paper, we present the algorithm for the backbone coloring of split graphs with matching backbone.

Extended non-linear relations of elastic shells undergoing phase transitions
PublicationThe non-linear theory of elastic shells undergoing phase transitions was proposed by two first authors in J. Elast. 79, 67-86 (2004). In the present paper the theory is extended by taking into account also the elastic strain energy density of the curvilinear phase interface as well as the resultant forces and couples acting along the interface surface curve itself. All shell relations are found from the variational principle of...
