Using Different Information Channels for Affect-Aware Video Games - A Case Study
PublicationThis paper presents the problem of creating affect-aware video games that use different information channels, such as image, video, physiological signals, input devices, and player’s behaviour, for emotion recognition. Presented case studies of three affect-aware games show certain conditions and limitations for using specific signals to recognize emotions and lead to interesting conclusions.

Building Information Modelling as an opportunity and risk for stakeholders involved in construction investment process
PublicationThe requirements to apply Building Information Modelling (BIM) in public investments worldwide are currently very high. Significant interest (sometimes formulated also as a requirement) in BIM technology can be observed also among private investors. Design technology that applies BIM is supported by many private investors due to its numerous advantages. A growing group of construction designers (steel, concrete and reinforced concrete...

Non-Perfect Propagation of Information to a Noisy Environment with Self-Evolution
PublicationWe study the non-perfect propagation of information for evolving a low-dimensional environment that includes self-evolution as well as noisy initial states and analyse the interrelations between the degree of objectivization and environment parameters. In particular, we consider an analytical model of three interacting qubits and derive its objectivity parameters. The numerical analysis shows that the quality of the spectrum broadcast...

Information Based Integration for Complex Systems

Exploratory analysis - extraction of dispersed information
Ponadto w takich wielowymiarowych danych najbardziej użyteczne informacje...

Music information analysis and retrieval - a review
PublicationW referacie przedstawiono wybrane zagadnienia związane z analizą i wyszukiwaniem informacji muzycznej. Przegląd ten został oparty na literaturze związanej z dziedziną informatyki muzycznej i koncentruje się wokół problemu parametryzacji dźwięków muzycznych i sygnałów fonicznych oraz analizie przydatności wybranych metod tzw. sztucznej inteligencji (ang. computational intelligence) do akwizycji i rozpoznawania obiektów muzycznych...

The dynamics of the total outputs of Japanese information and communication technology sectors: A further study
PublicationThe purpose of this study is to continue the previous studies which discussed the impacts of the changes of final demands on the total outputs of the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) sectors of the specific country. More specifically, this study aims to conduct a deeper analysis regarding these impacts. This study focuses on the case of Japan. This study employs a demand-pull Input-Output (IO) quantity model, one...

Extraction of information from born-digital PDF documents for reproducible research
PublicationBorn-digital PDF electronic documents might reasonably be expected to preserve useful data units of their source originals that suffice to produce executable papers for reproducible research. Unfortunately, developers of authoring tools may adopt arbitrary PDF generation strategies, producing a plethora of internal data representations. Such common information units as text paragraphs, tables, function graphs and flow diagrams,...

Two-spinors, oscillator algebras, and qubits: aspects of manifestly covariant approach to relativistic quantum information
PublicationThe first part of the paper reviews applications of 2-spinor methods to relativistic qubits (analogies between tetrads in Minkowski space and 2-qubit states, qubits defined by means of null directions and their role for elimination of the Peres-Scudo-Terno phenomenon, advantages and disadvantages of relativistic polarization operators defined by the Pauli-Lubanski vector, manifestly covariant approach to unitary representations...

Data, Information, Knowledge, Wisdom Pyramid Concept Revisited in the Context of Deep Learning
PublicationIn this paper, the data, information, knowledge, and wisdom (DIKW) pyramid is revisited in the context of deep learning applied to machine learningbased audio signal processing. A discussion on the DIKW schema is carried out, resulting in a proposal that may supplement the original concept. Parallels between DIWK pertaining to audio processing are presented based on examples of the case studies performed by the author and her collaborators....

Building Information Modeling in Small and Middle Sized Buildings – Case Study
PublicationBuilding Information Modeling (BIM) is a technology designed to improve and integrate all engineering aspects in the construction design process. Tools that incorporate the idea of BIM are becoming more advanced and also more popular. Available software solutions have already reached an assumable high level of development, but still are not as widespread and used on nearly as many construction projects as could be expected. Therefore...

One Europe, one product, two prices - the price disparity in the EU
PublicationThe price dispersion in the European Union in the last fifteen years (1990-2005) is analysed. The analysis of price convergence is examined on aggregate and disaggregate levels. The macro approach is based on Comparative Price Level index calculated as the ratio between PPPs and exchange rate. The disaggregate analysis utilizesactual prices of 148 individual products sold in the 15 capital cities of the EU. The calculations comprise...

Use of a wastewater recovery product (struvite) to enhance subtropical seagrass restoration
PublicationSeagrasses are in decline worldwide, and their restoration is relatively expensive and unsuccessful compared to other coastal systems. Fertilization can improve seagrass growth in restoration but can also release nutrients and pollute the surrounding ecosystem. A slow-release fertilizer may reduce excessive nutrient discharge while still providing resources to the seagrass's rhizosphere. In this study, struvite (magnesium ammonium...
