Quiet Quitting and its Link With Knowledge Risks in Organizations – Theoretical Insights
PublicationPurpose: Quiet quitting has become a widely publicized concept, driven by social mediain the United States and other countries in 2022. It is a term used to describe thephenomenon by which employees do the least amount of their work, just enough tomeet the requirements of one’s job description (Mahand and Caldwell, 2023). The trendis spreading quickly among young workers. It can potentially harm individuals,...

Usage of Two-Center Basis Function Neural Classifiers in Compact Smart Resistive Sensors
PublicationA new solution of the smart resistance sensorwith the Two-Center Basis Function (TCBF) neuralclassifier, for which the resistance sensor is a component ofan anti-aliasing filter of an ADC is proposed. Thetemperature measurement procedure is based on excitationof the filter by square impulses, sampling time response ofthe filter and processing measured voltage values by theTCBF classifier. All steps of the measurement procedure...

Interdisciplinarity in Smart Sustainable City education: exploring educational offerings and competencies worldwide
PublicationMore and more higher education institutions are offering specialized study programs for current and future managers of Smart Sustainable Cities (SSCs). In the process, they try to reconcile the interdisciplinary nature of such studies, covering at least the technical and social aspects of SSC management, with their own traditionally discipline-based organization. However, there is little guidance on how such interdisciplinarity...

Sensors integration in the smart home environment - a proposal to solve the problem with user identification
PublicationIn this preliminary study we, investigate the possibility of user recognition techniques suitable on smart home devices like chairs, beds, aiming for low–power, high accuracy and quick response time. We propose the two well know technique: voice speaker recognition and accelerometer signal from device mounted on the chair, and the third one optical system basing on IR LED transmitter/receiver circuit. The preliminary results proved...

Electronic noses: Powerful tools in meat quality assessment
PublicationMain factors that are considered by consumers when choosing meat products are colour and aroma, of which the latter is a more reliable indicator of quality. However, a simple sensory evaluation of hedonistic qualities is often not sufficient to determine whether protein is past its shelf life, and consumption of spoiled meat can lead to serious health hazards. Some volatile compounds can be used as spoilage indicators, and so a...

Introduction of knowledge bases to existing systems using the Knowledge Views

A model of an Ontology Oriented Threat Detection System (OOTDS)

Uncertainty assessment in the safety and security oriented risk analyses
PublicationW artykule przedstawiono uwzględnienie oceny niepewności w procesie związanym z analizą ryzyka i analizą bezpieczeństwa oraz ochroną informacji. Przedstawiona została koncepcja oceny bezpieczeństwa i zarządzania ryzykiem z uwzględnieniem analizy warstw zabezpieczeń LOPA. W artykule nakreślono wyzwania związane z integracją podejścia oceny bezpieczeństwa (safety) i ochrony informacji (security) w projektowaniu systemów zabezpieczeń...

Excitation energy migration in uniaxially oriented polymer films.
PublicationPrzedstawiono wyniki pomiarów i symulacji Monte Carlo anizotropii emisji dla procesu bezpromienistego transportu energii w orientowanych osiowo foliach polimerowych. Badany układ stanowiły molekuły DTCI (3,3´-diethylthiacarbocyamine iodine) umieszczony w folii PVA (poliwinyl). Za przestrzenny rozkład orientacji dipoli emisji molekuł w symulacjach Monte Carlo przyjęto rozkład Tanizaki.

Security-oriented agile approach with AgileSafe and OWASP ASVS
PublicationIn this paper we demonstrate a security enhancing approach based on a method called AgileSafe that can be adapted to support the introduction of OWASP ASVS compliant practices focused on improving security level to the agile software development process. We also present results of the survey evaluating selected agile inspired security practices that can be incorporated into an agile process. Based on the survey’s results, these...

Human Feedback and Knowledge Discovery: Towards Cognitive Systems Optimization
PublicationCurrent computer vision systems, especially those using machine learning techniques are data-hungry and frequently only perform well when dealing with patterns they have seen before. As an alternative, cognitive systems have become a focus of attention for applications that involve complex visual scenes, and in which conditions may vary. In theory, cognitive applications uses current machine learning algorithms, such as deep learning,...

Transformational leadership for researcher’s innovativeness in the context of tacit knowledge and change adaptability
PublicationThis study explores how a learning culture supported by transformational leadership influences tacit knowledge sharing and change adaptability in higher education and how these relations impact this sector’s internal and external innovativeness. The empirical model was tested on a sample of 368 Polish scientific staff using the structural equation modeling (SEM) method. Then results were expanded by applying OLS regression using...

Discrimination of selected fungi species based on their odour profile using prototypes of electronic nose instruments
PublicationThe paper presents practical application of an electronic nose technique to fast and efficient discrimination of the samples of different fungi species such as: Penicillium chrysogenum, Cladosporium herbarum, Rhizopus oryzae, Alternaria alternata. Two prototypes of electronic nose instrument were utilized for investigation of discrimination capability with respect to odour profile of these fungi: the first prototype was based on...

Power electronic transformer based on cascaded H-bridge converter
PublicationIn this paper the control strategy of power electronic transformer (PET) is proposed. The analyzed structure of PET uses two seven-level cascaded H-bridge (CHB) rectifiers. The electrical power of PET is transferred between DC-links of CHB converters using dual-active-bridges (DABs) and low voltage high frequency transformers. The roposed solution allows for controlling the active and reactive power with a low level of harmonic...

Self-assembly of vertically oriented graphene nanostructures: multivariate characterisation by Minkowski functionals and fractal geometry
PublicationThe enormous self-assembly potential that graphene and its derived layered materials offer for responding to the contemporary environmental challenges has made it one of the most investigated materials. Hence, tuning its extraordinary properties and understanding the effect at all scales is crucial to tailoring highly customised electrodes. Vertically oriented graphene nanostructures, also known as carbon nanowalls (CNWs), due...
