CREATING A RANKING OF DIAGNOSTIC PARAMETERS FOR THE DYNAMIC PROCESS OF A MARINE COMBUSTION ENGINE IN THE ASPECT OF MULTI-CRITERIA EVALUATIONS
PublicationThe change of some of the engine’s structural parameters affects the change of toxic compound emission in exhaust gases. It mainly applies to the damage sustained by the charge exchange system as well as the fuel system and the engine supercharging system. These changes are definitely higher during dynamic states and the related transient states. As such, it is possible to speak of a diverse sensitivity of the diagnostic parameters...

Application of data driven methods in diagnostic of selected process faults of nuclear power plant steam turbine
PublicationArticle presents a comparison of process anomaly detection in nuclear power plant steam turbine using combination of data driven methods. Three types of faults are considered: water hammering, fouling and thermocouple fault. As a virtual plant a nonlinear, dynamic, mathe- matical steam turbine model is used. Two approaches for fault detection using one class and two class classiers are tested and compared.

Effects of Different Aeration Modes on Ammonia Removal from Sludge Digester Liquors in the Nitritation-Anammox Process
PublicationSludge digester liquors can be responsible for up to one third of the nitrogen load to the biological step of wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs). The conventional process for ammonia removal via two sequential processes, i.e. nitrification and denitrification, is increasingly being challenged by a one-step process in which ammonium is oxidized directly to nitrogen gas e.g. ammonium oxidation (anammox) process. In this novel process,...

The Influence of Gas Mixture in the Glow-Discharge Nitriding Process of Austenitic Stainless Steel on Characteristic of Nitrided Cases
PublicationAustenitic stainless steels characterize with excellent corrosion resistance, although low mechanical properties. In many cases that limits their exploitation in industrial applications. Moreover, austenitic stainless steel is susceptible to local corrosion in the presence of halide ions. In present works, it was emphasized that the nitriding of austenitic stainless steels gives some potential abilities to obtain beneficial effect...

Effect of crystallization process at cryogenic conditions on the functional properties of the SUPERSTON alloy used in production the ship's propellers
PublicationThe purpose of this paper is to show results of laser treatment at cryogenic conditions of the SUPERSTON alloy used for ship's propellers. That modification process ought to bring beneficial changes of microstructure and residual stresses in the surface layer. During the laser remelting at cryogenic conditions the microstructure changes significantly. This is related to synergistic effects of the solidification rate, phase transformations...

Spectroscopic studies of a ring opening process between epoxy- and aminosilanes and imine formation reactions in aqueous solutions
PublicationNMR and Raman spectroscopy studies were performed for different 3-aminopropyl(trimethoxy)- and 3-glycidoxypropyl (trimethoxy)silane based sol-gel systems containing different ketones. Exceptionally stable imine products were obtained depending on a reaction system at alkaline pH conditions and in the presence of water. These imine formation reactions were carried out without further catalyst. In addition, effect of water for the...

Cast polyurethanes obtained from reactive recovered polyol intermediates via crude glycerine decomposition process
PublicationIn this work, the possibility of applying intermediates from polyurethane waste recycling in polyurethane synthesis was presented. Polyurethanes were synthesised in a two-step method using a mixture of petrochemical polyol and glycerolysate, used as a reactive component, 4,4-diphenylmethane diisocyanate (MDI) and 1,4-buthanediol (BD). Glycerolysates were produced during decomposition of polyurethane elastomer by crude glycerine...

Instantaneous Impedance Analysis of Non-Stationary Corrosion Process: a Case Study of Carbon Steel in 1M HCl
PublicationThe paper concerns the problem of evaluation of stationarity of carbon steel corrosion in 1M HCl. Comparison of corrosion rate with addition of corrosion inhibitor to the reference measurement is the most often used way of evaluating inhibitor efficiency. Such an approach is valid only if corrosion rate is a stationary process. Two complementary techniques were used simultaneously: volumetric analysis of evolved hydrogen and instantaneous...

STRUCTURE AND MAGNETIC PROPERTIES OF Bi5Ti3FeO15 CERAMICS PREPARED BY SINTERING, MECHANICAL ACTIVATION AND EDAMM PROCESS. A COMPARATIVE STUDY
PublicationThree different methods were used to obtain Bi5Ti3FeO15 ceramics, i.e. solid-state sintering, mechanical activation (MA) with subsequent thermal treatment, and electrical discharge assisted mechanical milling (EDAMM). The structure and magnetic properties of produced Bi5Ti3FeO15 samples were characterized using X-ray diffraction and Mössbauer spectroscopy. The purest Bi5Ti3FeO15 ceramics was obtained by standard solid-state sintering...

The accretion of the new ice layer on the surface of hexagonal ice crystal and the influence of the local electric field on this process
PublicationThe process of creation of a new layer of ice on the basal plane and on the prism plane of a hexagonal ice crystal is analyzed. It is demonstrated that the ordering of water molecules in the already existing crystal affects the freezing. On the basal plane, when the orientations of water molecules in the ice block are random, the arrangement of the new layer in a cubic manner is observed more frequently — approximately 1.7 times...

Scaled agile framework. Dealing with software process‐related challenges of a financial group with the action research approach
PublicationThis article reports on a domain-specific software development venture at Nordea. We explore organizational constraints, challenges, and corrective actions undertaken when scaling the agile development approach of their Core Banking Platform program. The fit and required customizations of the rather complex and rigid SAFe framework in a policy-heavy financial institution are audited against the organic growth of the program. In...

A method of predicting the best conditions for large-size workpiece clamping to reduce vibration in the face milling process
PublicationThe paper presents an innovative method of solving the problem of vibration suppression during milling of large-size details. It consists in searching for the best conditions for clamping the workpiece based on a rapid modal identification of the dominant natural frequencies only and requires repetitive changes in the tightening torque of the clamping screws. Then, by estimating the minimum work of the cutting forces acting in...
