Structural pounding models with Hertz spring and nonlinear damper
PublicationW artykule przedstawiono porównanie możliwości wykorzystania dwóch modeli zderzeń: nieliniowego modelu lepkosprężystego i modelu Hertz'a z dodatkowym tłumieniem. Efektywność każdego z modeli zbadano porównując wyniki analiz numerycznych z wynikami badań eksperymentalnych. Wyniki pracy pokazują, iż zastosowanie nieliniowego modelu lepkosprężystego prowadzi do mniejszych błędów w przebiegach czasowych siły zderzenia oraz do mniejszych...

Low-dimensional bound entanglement with one-way distillable cryptographic key
PublicationIn this paper, we provide a class of bound entangled states that have positive distillable secure key rate. The smallest state of this kind is 4 circle times 4, which shows that peculiar security contained in bound entangled states does not need high-dimensional systems. We show that for these states a positive key rate can be obtained by one-way Devetak-Winter (DW) protocol. Subsequently, the volume of bound entangled key-distillable...

Antibacterial polyurethanes, modifed with cinnamaldehyde, as potential materials for fabrication of wound dressings
PublicationThe epidermis is a skin layer, which protects an organism from the different factors of external environment. Therefore, the fast and effective regeneration of epidermis is important. Potential materials used for epidermis regeneration may be polyurethane scaffolds in form of the thin permeable layers. One and main disadvantage of such polyurethane scaffolds are their lack of antibacterial and antifungal properties. The great proposition...

Epigenetic inhibitor zebularine activates ear pinna wound closure in the mouse
PublicationBackground:Most studies on regenerative medicine focus on cell-based therapies and transplantations.Small-molecule therapeutics, though proved effective in different medical conditions, have not been extensivelyinvestigated in regenerative research. It is known that healing potential decreases with development and devel-opmental changes are driven by epigenetic mechanisms, which suggests epigenetic repression of regenerativecapacity.Methods:We...

Active Dynamic Thermography imaging of wound healing processes in cardio surgery
PublicationThe surgery is a branch of medicine, that is integrally connected to wounds. Despite using sterile tools and compliance with aseptic rolls, some of the surgery wounds become infected. In clinical practice there is a lack of cheap, objective methods and tools for quantitative definition and estimation of the surgery wound healing progress. This paper presents preliminary results of Active Dynamic Thermography (ADT) parametric imaging...

Relationships between Trust and Collaborative Culture in The Context of Tacit Knowledge Sharing
PublicationThe literature review presents a lot of theoretical and empirical evidence that Trust affects Collaborative Culture. The opposite also proves to be true: Collaborative Culture influences Trust. The main hypothesis presented in this paper says that both these factors are strongly correlated and modify each other. This study examines the mutual relationship of the said variables in the context of Tacit Knowledge Sharing based on...

IMPACT OF THE ORGANISATION OF MEGA SPORTING EVENTS ON SELECTED ELEMENTS OF THE TOURISM SECTOR
PublicationIntroduction. In the world-wide literature, there is no unanimity in the assessment of the impact of mega sporting events on the tourism sector. Therefore, the main purpose of this study was to quantify the impact of mega sporting events on changes in tourist inflow and the amount of expenditure incurred by visitors. Material and methods. In this study, an ex-post analysis of many different categories of mega sporting events was...

Knowledge Sharing and Organizational Culture Dimensions: Does Job Satisfaction Matter?
PublicationThe aim of this study is to examine how job satisfaction influences the relationship between company performance, knowledge sharing, and organizational culture, perceived through the prism of Hofstede’s cultural dimensions, controlled by company size and staff position. A survey of 910 Polish employees (mainly knowledge workers) with different roles and experiences across different industries was conducted. The data were analyzed...

Security information sharing for smart grids: Developing the right data model
PublicationThe smart grid raises new security concerns which require novel solutions. It is commonly agreed that to protect the grid the effective collaboration and information sharing between the relevant stakeholders is prerequisite. Developing a security information sharing platform for the smart grid is a new research direction which poses several challenges related to the highly distributed and heterogeneous character of the grid. In...

Bifractal receiver operating characteristic curves: a formula for generating receiver operating characteristic curves in credit-scoring contexts
PublicationThis paper formulates a mathematical model for generating receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves without underlying data. Credit scoring practitioners know that the Gini coefficient usually drops if it is only calculated on cases above the cutoff. This fact is not a mathematical necessity, however, as it is theoretically possible to get an ROC curve that keeps the same Gini coefficient no matter how big a share of lowest...

Regenerative Drug Discovery Using Ear Pinna Punch Wound Model in Mice
PublicationThe ear pinna is a complex tissue consisting of the dermis, cartilage, muscles, vessels, and nerves. Ear pinna healing is a model of regeneration in mammals. In some mammals, including rabbits, punch wounds in the ear pinna close spontaneously; in common-use laboratory mice, they remain for life. Agents inducing ear pinna healing are potential regenerative drugs. We tested the effects of selected bioactive agents on 2 mm ear pinna...

A bound on the number of middle-stage crossbars in f-cast rearrangeable Clos networks
PublicationIn 2006 Chen and Hwang gave a necessary and sufficient condition under which a three-stage Clos network is rearrangeable for broadcast connections. Assuming that only crossbars of the first stage have no fan-out property, we give similar conditions for f-cast Clos networks, where f is an arbitrary but fixed invariant of the network. Such assumptions are valid for some practical switching systems, e.g. high-speed crossconnects....
