Weakly convex domination subdivision number of a graph
PublicationA set X is weakly convex in G if for any two vertices a; b \in X there exists an ab–geodesic such that all of its vertices belong to X. A set X \subset V is a weakly convex dominating set if X is weakly convex and dominating. The weakly convex domination number \gamma_wcon(G) of a graph G equals the minimum cardinality of a weakly convex dominating set in G. The weakly convex domination subdivision number sd_wcon (G) is the minimum...

Multi-agent graph searching and exploration algorithms
PublicationA team of mobile entities, which we refer to as agents or searchers interchangeably, starting from homebases needs to complete a given task in a graph. The goal is to build a strategy, which allows agents to accomplish their task. We analyze strategies for their effectiveness (e.g., the number of used agents, the total number of performed moves by the agents or the completion time).Currently, the fields of on-line (i.e., agents...

A Model of Thermal Energy Storage According to the Convention of Bond Graphs (BG) and State Equations (SE)
PublicationThe main advantage of the use of the Bond Graphs method and State Equations for modeling energy systems with a complex structure (marine power plants, hybrid vehicles, etc.) is the ability to model the system components of different physical nature using identical theoretical basis. The paper presents a method of modeling thermal energy storage, which is in line with basic BG theory. Critical comments have been put forward concerning...

Edge subdivision and edge multisubdivision versus some domination related parameters in generalized corona graphs
PublicationGiven a graph G= (V, E), the subdivision of an edge e=uv∈E(G) means the substitution of the edge e by a vertex x and the new edges ux and xv. The domination subdivision number of a graph G is the minimum number of edges of G which must be subdivided (where each edge can be subdivided at most once) in order to increase the domination number. Also, the domination multisubdivision number of G is the minimum number of subdivisions...

On Tradeoffs Between Width- and Fill-like Graph Parameters
PublicationIn this work we consider two two-criteria optimization problems: given an input graph, the goal is to find its interval (or chordal) supergraph that minimizes the number of edges and its clique number simultaneously. For the interval supergraph, the problem can be restated as simultaneous minimization of the path width pw(G) and the profile p(G) of the input graph G. We prove that for an arbitrary graph G and an integer t ∈ {1,...

On the complexity of distributed graph coloring with local minimality constraints

Pawlak's flow graph extensions for video surveillance systems
PublicationThe idea of the Pawlak's flow graphs is applicable to many problems in various fields related to decision algorithms or data mining. The flow graphs can be used also in the video surveillance systems. Especially in distributed multi-camera systems which are problematic to be handled by human operators because of their limited perception. In such systems automated video analysis needs to be implemented. Important part of this analysis...

Characterizing the Scalability of Graph Convolutional Networks on Intel® PIUMA
PublicationLarge-scale Graph Convolutional Network (GCN) inference on traditional CPU/GPU systems is challenging due to a large memory footprint, sparse computational patterns, and irregular memory accesses with poor locality. Intel’s Programmable Integrated Unffied Memory Architecture (PIUMA) is designed to address these challenges for graph analytics. In this paper, a detailed characterization of GCNs is presented using the Open-Graph Benchmark...

Constructing a map of an anonymous graph: applications of universal sequences
PublicationWe study the problem of mapping an unknown environmentrepresented as an unlabelled undirected graph. A robot (or automaton)starting at a single vertex of the graph G has to traverse the graph and return to its starting point building a map of the graph in the process. We are interested in the cost of achieving this task (whenever possible) in terms of the number of edge traversal made by the robot. Another optimization criteria...

Scheduling with Complete Multipartite Incompatibility Graph on Parallel Machines
PublicationIn this paper we consider a problem of job scheduling on parallel machines with a presence of incompatibilities between jobs. The incompatibility relation can be modeled as a complete multipartite graph in which each edge denotes a pair of jobs that cannot be scheduled on the same machine. Our research stems from the works of Bodlaender, Jansen, and Woeginger (1994) and Bodlaender and Jansen (1993). In particular, we pursue the...

Modern research in Affective Computing, often rely on datasets containing experiments-originated data such as biosignals, video clips, or images. Moreover, conducting experiments with a vast number of participants to build datasets for Affective Computing research is time-consuming and expensive. Therefore, it is extremely important to...

Linear game non-contextuality and Bell inequalities—a graph-theoretic approach
PublicationWe study the classical and quantum values of a class of one-and two-party unique games, that generalizes the well-known XOR games to the case of non-binary outcomes. In the bipartite case the generalized XOR(XOR-d) games we study are a subclass of the well-known linear games. We introduce a 'constraint graph' associated to such a game, with the constraints defining the game represented by an edge-coloring of the graph. We use the...

Analysis of Reconstituted Tripartite Complex Supports Avidity-based Recruitment of Hsp70 by Substrate Bound J-domain Protein
PublicationHsp70 are ubiquitous, versatile molecular chaperones that cyclically interact with substrate protein(s). The initial step requires synergistic interaction of a substrate and a J-domain protein (JDP) cochaperone, via its J-domain, with Hsp70 to stimulate hydrolysis of its bound ATP. This hydrolysis drives conformational changes in Hsp70 that stabilize substrate binding. However, because of the transient nature of substrate and JDP...

Some variants of perfect graphs related to the matching number, the vertex cover and the weakly connected domination number
PublicationGiven two types of graph theoretical parameters ρ and σ, we say that a graph G is (σ, ρ)- perfect if σ(H) = ρ(H) for every non-trivial connected induced subgraph H of G. In this work we characterize (γw, τ )-perfect graphs, (γw, α′)-perfect graphs, and (α′, τ )-perfect graphs, where γw(G), τ (G) and α′(G) denote the weakly connected domination number, the vertex cover number and the matching number of G, respectively. Moreover,...

On a matching distance between rooted phylogenetic trees
PublicationThe Robinson–Foulds (RF) distance is the most popular method of evaluating the dissimilarity between phylogenetic trees. In this paper, we define and explore in detail properties of the Matching Cluster (MC) distance, which can be regarded as a refinement of the RF metric for rooted trees. Similarly to RF, MC operates on clusters of compared trees, but the distance evaluation is more complex. Using the graph theoretic approach...

We received sligthly better results for ndcg@20 and somewhat poorer results for...

Optimal edge-coloring with edge rate constraints

Although it can be determined in polynomial time whether such a sequence of matchings exists or not [Grötschel et al., Combinatorica (1981), 169–197], we show that several questions about the length of the sequence are computationally intractable....
