Dual-wavelength polarimeter application in investigations of the optical activity of a langasite crystal
PublikacjaA method of high accuracy polarimetry, which includes optical activity measurements systematic errors, was realized with dual-wavelength polarimeter for two wavelengths of 635 and 650 nm. Simultaneous measurements with neighboring wavelengths significantly improved the data processing, by increasing the amount of data to eliminate the systematic errors. For langasite crystal La3Ga5SiO14 we measured temperature dependence of the...

Application of mesh deformation for modeling of conformal RF components with 3D FEM
PublikacjaIn this paper, a method of analysis of conformal RF components has been proposed. In this approach, modeling of a curved structure is based on mesh deformation of planar objects rather than the construction of conformal geometry at CSG level. Since the model is represented as a 3D mesh, the deformation only requires the calculation of nodes position in the bent structure. The results of the proposed algorithm have been validated...

Application of the neural networks for developing new parametrization of the Tersoff potential for carbon
PublikacjaPenta-graphene (PG) is a 2D carbon allotrope composed of a layer of pentagons having sp2- and sp3-bonded carbon atoms. A study carried out in 2018 has shown that the parameterization of the Tersoff potential proposed in 2005 by Ehrhart and Able (T05 potential) performs better than other potentials available for carbon, being able to reproduce structural and mechanical properties of the PG. In this work, we tried to improve the...

Application of Doubly Connected Dominating Sets to Safe Rectangular Smart Grids
PublikacjaSmart grids, together with the Internet of Things, are considered to be the future of the electric energy world. This is possible through a two-way communication between nodes of the grids and computer processing. It is necessary that the communication is easy and safe, and the distance between a point of demand and supply is short, to reduce the electricity loss. All these requirements should be met at the lowest possible cost....

Application of Stirling Engine Type Alpha Powered by the Recovery Energy on Vessels
PublikacjaThe Stirling engine is a device, in which thermal energy is transformed into mechanical without a contact between the heat carrier, and the working gas closed in the engine. Mentioned feature makes this type of engine very attractive for the use of the recovery energy, taken from other heat devices. One of the potential applications of Stirling engines is the use of thermal energy generated in the ship's engine room for producing...

Chirp Rate and Instantaneous Frequency Estimation: Application to Recursive Vertical Synchrosqueezing
PublikacjaThis letter introduces new chirp rate and instantaneous frequency estimators designed for frequency-modulated signals. These estimators are first investigated from a deterministic point of view, then compared together in terms of statistical efficiency. They are also used to design new recursive versions of the vertically synchrosqueezed short-time Fourier transform, using a previously published method (D. Fourer, F. Auger, and...

Application of regularized Savitzky–Golay filters to identification of time-varying systems
PublikacjaSavitzky–Golay (SG) filtering is a classical signal smoothing technique based on the local least squares approximation of the analyzed signal by a linear combination of known functions of time (originally — powers of time, which corresponds to polynomial approximation). It is shown that the regularized version of the SG algorithm can be successfully applied to identification of time-varying finite impulse response (FIR) systems....

The chapter analyses the K-Means algorithm in its parallel setting. We provide detailed description of the algorithm as well as the way we paralellize the computations. We identified complexity of the particular steps of the algorithm that allows us to build the algorithm model in MERPSYS system. The simulations with the MERPSYS have been performed for different size of the data as well as for different number of the processors used for the computations. The results we got using the model have been compared to the results obtained from real computational environment.
