Purely quantum superadditivity of classical capacities of quantum multiple access channels
PublikacjaWe are studying classical capacities of quantum memoryless multiaccess channels in geometric terms and we are revealing a break of additivity of the Holevo-like capacity. This effect is a purely quantum mechanical one, since, as we point out, the capacity regions of all classical memoryless multiaccess channels are additive. It is the first such effect revealed in the field of classical information transmission via quantum channels.

Subadditivity of the minimum output entropy and superactivation of the classical capacity of quantum multiple access channels
PublikacjaWe study subadditivity of the minimum output entropy (Hmin) of quantum multiple access channels (MACs). We provide an example of violation of the additivity theorem for Hmin known in classical information theory. Our result is based on a fundamental property of MACs, i.e., independence of each sender. The channels used in the example can be constructed explicitly. On the basis of subadditivity of Hmin we also provide an example...

Nonadditivity of quantum and classical capacities for entanglement breaking multiple-access channels and the butterfly network
PublikacjaWe analyze quantum network primitives which are entanglement breaking. We show superadditivity of quantum and classical capacity regions for quantum multiple-access channels and the quantum butterfly network. Since the effects are especially visible at high noise they suggest that quantum information effects may be particularly helpful in the case of the networks with occasional high noise rates. The present effects provide a qualitative...

Quantum superadditivity in linear optics networks: Sending bits via multiple-access Gaussian channels
PublikacjaSuperadditivity effects of communication capacities are known in the case of discrete variable quantum channels. We describe the continuous variable analog of one of these effects in the framework of Gaussian multiple access channels (MACs). Classically, superadditivity-type effects are strongly restricted: For example, adding resources to one sender is never advantageous to other senders in sending their respective information...

Multiple access in ad-hoc wireless LANs with noncooperative stations
PublikacjaA class of contention-type MAC protocols (e.g., CSMA/CA) relies on random deferment of packet transmission, and subsumes a deferment selection strategy and a scheduling policy that determines the winner of each contention cycle. This paper examines contention-type protocols in a noncooperative an ad-hoc wireless LAN setting, where a number of stations self-optimise their strategies to obtain a more-than-fair bandwidth share. Two...

Decoherence-free communication over multiaccess quantum channels
PublikacjaIn this paper we consider decoherence-free communication over multiple access and k-user quantum channels. First, we concentrate on a hermitian unitary noise model U for a two-access bi-unitary channel and show that in this case a decoherence-free code exists if the space of Schmidt matrices of an eigensubspace of U exhibits certain properties of decomposability. Then, we show that our technique is also applicable for generic random unitary...

We review properties of this set and relate it to other numerical ranges, which were recently introduced in the literature. Further, the concept is applied to the construction...

Determinants of Directionality and Efficiency of the ATP Synthase Fo Motor at Atomic Resolution
PublikacjaFo subcomplex of ATP synthase is a membrane-embedded rotary motor that converts proton motive force into mechanical energy. Despite a rapid increase in the number of high-resolution structures, the mechanism of tight coupling between proton transport and motion of the rotary c-ring remains elusive. Here, using extensive all-atom free energy simulations, we show how the motor’s directionality naturally arises from the interplay...

Hidden Champions of Poland
PublikacjaPoland is a country with a strong entrepreneurial spirit. The hidden champions’ performance has been closely related to political and economic changes: the fall of communism in 1989 and the transition from a centrally planned economy to a market economy. This led to the emergence of small private businesses focused on the domestic market. The accession to the European Union in 2004 created new perspectives for the hidden champions’...

Circular polarization diversity implementation for correlation reduction in wideband low-cost multiple-input-multiple-output antenna
PublikacjaIn this paper, a multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) antenna featuring circular polarization diversity, and designed on a common coplanar ground is presented. We formulate this problem as a discrete problem on graphs where mobile agents located in distinct nodes of a given graph must quickly reach one of multiple possible exit nodes, while avoiding congestion and bottlenecks. Each node of the graph has the capacity of holding at most one agent at each time step. Thus, the agents must choose their movements strategy...

The determination of the number and placement of controllers is known as the Controller Placement Problem (CPP). In the regular (i.e., failure-free) state, the control plane...

The answer is fully affirmative in the case of breaking quantum correlationsdown to the, so called, QC (Quantum-Classical)...

Underwater Acoustic Communications in Time-Varying Dispersive Channels
PublikacjaUnderwater acoustic communication (UAC) system designers tend to transmit as much information as possible, per unit of time, at as low as possible error rate. This is due to disadvantageous properties of the UAC channels, namely the sea and inland waters. Estimation of UAC channel transmission properties is possible within...
