Porosity and shape of airborne wear microparticles generated by sliding contact between a low-metallic friction material and a cast iron
PublikacjaThe wear of brakes in transport vehicles is one of the main anthropogenic sources of airborne particulate matter in urban environments. The present study deals with the characterisation of airborne wear microparticles from a low-metallic friction material / cast iron pair used in car brakes. Particles were generated by a pin-on-disc machine in a sealed chamber at sliding velocity of 1.3 m/s and contact pressure of 1.5 MPa. They...

Cheap Cancellation of Strong Echoes for Digital Passive and Noise Radars
PublikacjaThe problem of cancellation of strong, potentially nonstationary, echoes in noise radars and passive radars utilizing digitaltransmissions is considered. The proposed solution is a multi-stage procedure.Initial clutter estimates, obtained using the least mean squares(LMS) algorithm, are refined using specially designed filters, "matched"to spectral densities of targets and clutter. When the postprocessing filtersare noncausal, the...

An Analysis of Contextual Aspects of Conceptualization: A Case Study and Prospects
PublikacjaIn this chapter we present a new approach to development of modularized knowledge bases. We argue that modularization should start from the very beginning of modeling, i.e. from the conceptualization stage. To make this feasible, we propose to exploit a context-oriented, semantic approach to modularization. This approach is based on the Structural Interpretation Model (SIM) presented earlier elsewhere. In the first part of thischapter...

Novel Tools as New Challenges to HRM Communicational Practices (and the Increasingly Important Social Role of the Manager)
PublikacjaEach communicational process consists inseparably of three aspects: the linguistic (which means the whole language content of the message), technical (which states the form of the message) and the social (meaning social relations, emotions, behaviours). The recent COVID-19 pandemic deeply influenced several layers of our lives. But the main aim of this chapter is to focus on the communicational processes that normally take place...
