The KLC Cultures, Tacit Knowledge, and Trust Contribution to Organizational Intelligence Activation
PublikacjaIn this paper, the authors address a new approach to three organizational, functional cultures: knowledge culture, learning culture, and collaboration culture, named together the KLC cultures. Authors claim that the KLC approach in knowledge-driven organizations must be designed and nourished to leverage knowledge and intellectual capital. It is suggested that they are necessary for simultaneous implementation because no one of...

Activation of endogenous regenerative potential in mammals using epigenetic inhibitor zebularine
PublikacjaIn this work, a nucleoside inhibitor of DNA methyltransferases, zebularine, was investigated as a wound healing and regeneration promoting agent. It was found that a high dose of intraperitoneally delivered zebularine improved punch wound closure in the ear pinna in mice. Both cytidine, a zebularine analogue, and uridine, a zebularine metabolite, did not promote ear pinna hole closure. The effect of zebularine on ear pinna healing...

Two bacterial small heat shock proteins, IbpA and IbpB, form a functional heterodimer
PublikacjaSmall heat shock proteins (sHsps) are a conserved class of ATP-independent chaperones which in stress conditions bind to unfolded protein substrates and prevent their irreversible aggregation. Substrates trapped in sHsps-containing aggregates are efficiently refolded into native structures by ATP-dependent Hsp70 and Hsp100 chaperones. Most γ-proteobacteria possess a single sHsp (IbpA), while in a subset of Enterobacterales, as...

Enzymatic and Chemical Cross-Linking of Bacterial Cellulose/Fish Collagen Composites—A Comparative Study
PublikacjaThis article compares the properties of bacterial cellulose/fish collagen composites (BC/Col) after enzymatic and chemical cross-linking. In our methodology, two transglutaminases are used for enzymatic cross-linking—one recommended for the meat and the other proposed for the fish industry—and pre-oxidated BC (oxBC) is used for chemical cross-linking. The structure of the obtained composites is characterized by scanning electron...

Bacterial presence in polar regions associated with environment modification by chemical compounds including contaminants
PublikacjaMicrobes are omnipresent and diverse members of all biological communities. In marine and freshwater ecosystems, microorganisms form the base of the food chain supporting higher trophic levels. Even though, microbes generally are thought to live in warm regions of Earth, many of them develop in cold climates. Polar regions remain relatively protected from widespread anthropogenic disturbances, which is a consequence of its remoteness...

In this study, an activated sludge model was developed to account for competition between two groups of canonical NOB and comammox bacteria. Heterotrophic denitrification on soluble microbial products was also incorporated into the model. Four 5-week washout...

OsobyI am interested in the biology of bacterial stress response and its growth under stress conditions. Our lab focuses on two aspects; protein folding and lipopolysaccharide biosynthesis and we address them with Escherichia coli models. Our recent studies have provided more evidence regarding several genes involved in the survival of bacteria under stress. I am also interested in disease biology and also in identifying proper therapeutic...
