A novel approach to energy safety improvement in the marine power plants with active power surge compensator
PublicationPaper raises a point of power surges and theirs adverse effects in the marine power plants. The article explains a source of surges appearance, and presents measurements carried out on a modern ship. It discusses effects of dynamic power transients on the ship’s energy safety. Finally it proposes, a novel approach for power surge elimination, based on medium voltage active conditioner. As well as it propose the topology and control...

Movement perception with the use of a motorized delta armrest and virtual reality
PublicationIn this paper we present a combination of neuroscience experiments with the use of a parallel armrest robot to study the effects of temporal delays and spatial biases on the movement perception. A dedicated armrest to guide and manipulate the arm has been developed for these experiments. It is a three-degree-of-freedom Delta structure. In combination with a virtual reality application, the movement perception has been evaluated....

Three-dimensional mapping for data collected using variable stereo baseline
PublicationThe paper describes a system of 3D mapping of data collected with due regard for variable baseline. This solution constitute an extension to a VisRobot sub-system developed as a subsystem, necessary for implementing the generic idea of using mobile robots to explore an indoor static environment. This subsystem is to acquire stereo images, calculate the depth in the images and construct the sought 3D map. Stereo images are obtained...

Prediction of the stability during optimal control of the 3-wheel mobile platform
PublicationW pracy przedstawiono metodę badania stabilności sterowania optymalnego 3-kołową platformą mobilną podczas realizacji zadanej trajektorii ruchu. Badany robot posiada więzy nieholonomiczne. Model matematyczny robota 3-kołowego opisano za pomocą skończonej liczby nieliniowych równań różniczkowych. Stąd, prognozowanie ruchu takiego obiektu wymaga zastosowania efektywnych algorytmów.

Constructing a map of an anonymous graph: applications of universal sequences
PublicationWe study the problem of mapping an unknown environmentrepresented as an unlabelled undirected graph. A robot (or automaton)starting at a single vertex of the graph G has to traverse the graph and return to its starting point building a map of the graph in the process. We are interested in the cost of achieving this task (whenever possible) in terms of the number of edge traversal made by the robot. Another optimization criteria...

Power Surge Compensator based on a Four Level Diode Clamped Inverter for ship application. Average model
PublicationPaper presents continuous average value model of Power Surge Compensator based on a Four Level Diode Clamped Inverter with super capacitor as a energy storage device. This conditioner is design for power surge or fluctuation elimination, by compensating it with energy stored in ESD. Continuous average value model of multilevel S-PWM has been presented also. Summary of raised problem is a simulation model made in PowerSim Psim 8...

A Comprehensive Survey on Antennas On-Chip Based on Metamaterial, Metasurface, and Substrate Integrated Waveguide Principles for Millimeter-Waves and Terahertz Integrated Circuits and Systems
PublicationAntennas on-chip are a particular type of radiating elements valued for their small footprint. They are most commonly integrated in circuit boards to electromagnetically interface free space, which is necessary for wireless communications. Antennas on-chip radiate and receive electromagnetic (EM) energy as any conventional antennas, but what distinguishes them is their miniaturized size. This means they can be integrated inside...

A literature survey of the influence of preform reheating and stretch blow moulding with hot mould process parameters on the properties of PET containers – part 2.
PublicationThe hot fill process is an inexpensive conventional filling technology for high-acidity products (pH < 4.5). It allows certain drinks (sensitive beverages such as fruit and vegetable juices, nectars, soft drinks, vitaminised water) to be stored at ambient temperature without the need for chemical preservatives. The primary feature of the bottles used in the hot fill process is their temperature stability, i.e. the ability to retain...

Analysis of the Dynamic Height Distribution at the Estuary of the Odra River Based on Gravimetric Measurements Acquired with the Use of a Light Survey Boat—A Case Study
PublicationLaCoste) for determining the dynamic height along the Odra River, in northwest Poland. The gravity measurement campaign described in this article was conducted on a small, hybrid-powered survey vessel (overall length: 9.5 m). We discuss a method for processing the results of gravimetric measurements performed on a mobile platform affected by strong external disturbances. Because measurement noise in most cases consists of signals...

Magnetic instrumentation and other applications of magnets in NOTES
PublicationModern surgery is developing towards a minimally invasive approach. To minimize the trauma the number of ports is either limited as in single incision laparoscopic procedures or ports are introduced through natural orifices as in nat- ural orifice translumenal endoscopic surgery (NOTES). To provide surgeons with appropriate instrumentation novel technologies are employed involving magnets. This article summarizes the theoretical...
