Determination of terpene profiles in potential superfruits
PublicationThe aim of this work was to characterize and compare the profiles of volatile terpenes in four potential superfruits. These profiles were determined using headspace solid-phase microextraction coupled with comprehensive two-dimensional gas chromatography linked to time-of-flight mass spectrometry. The proposed technique allowed the separation and identification of 79 terpenes present in cape gooseberry, crabapple, cherry silver...

NVRAM as Main Storage of Parallel File System
PublicationModern cluster environments' main trouble used to be lack of computational power provided by CPUs and GPUs, but recently they suffer more and more from insufficient performance of input and output operations. Apart from better network infrastructure and more sophisticated processing algorithms, a lot of solutions base on emerging memory technologies. This paper presents evaluation of using non-volatile random-access memory as a...

BeesyCluster as Front-End for High Performance Computing Services
PublicationThe paper presents the BeesyCluster system as a middleware allowing invocation of services on high performance computing resources within the NIWA Centre of Competence project. Access is possible through both WWW and SOAP Web Service interfaces. The former allows non-experienced users to invoke both simple and complex services exposed through easyto-use servlets. The latter is meant for integration of external applications with...

Examination of selected failure criteria with asymmetric shear stresses in the collapse analysis of laminated shells
PublicationThe paper is concerned with failure analysis of composite shells performed with the usage of the nonlinear 6‐parameter shell theory with drilling rotation degree of freedom. This special theory embodies naturally unlim-ited translations and rotations and is suitable for analysis of irregular shells for instance with various, partic-ularly orthogonal, intersections. The presence of the drilling rotation is inherently accompanied...

Pesticide residues levels in honey from apiaries located of Northern Poland
PublicationConcentration levels of 30 pesticide residues were measured in honey samples collected from apiaries in northern part of Poland (Pomerania) using method based on the QuEChERS extraction followed by liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry with electron spray ionization (LC-ESI-MS/MS). In 29% of the samples were found positive for at least some of the target compounds. Concentration of bifenthrin, fenpyroximate, methidathion,...

A random field-based simulational identification of possible levels of material imperfections of adhesive-bonded joints
PublicationRecently, structural adhesives have become significant in the shaping of structural elements, especially in thin-walled structures, where they replace or supplement traditional connection methods. However, adhesive-bonded joints are highly susceptible to internal structural imperfections due to their application technique and the nature of the adhesive. These material inconsistencies impact the strength parameters and the mechanical...

Modeling the debonding process of osseointegrated implants due to coupled adhesion and friction
PublicationCementless implants have become widely used for total hip replacement surgery. The long-term stability of these implants is achieved by bone growing around and into the rough surface of the implant, a process called osseointegration. However, debonding of the bone–implant interface can still occur due to aseptic implant loosening and insufficient osseointegration, which may have dramatic consequences. The aim of this work is to...
