Chain Action - How Do Countries Add Value Through Digital Government?
PublicationThis study examineshow countries develop and benefit from Digital Government(DG).The literature proposes various conceptualizations of the value-adding logic of DG, but the benchmarking practice is not respondingto such proposals. For instance, the United Nations’E-Government Surveycombines the readiness and uptake indicatorsand failsto cover any impactindicators;thus, its diagnostic valueis limited. To overcome...

Problem wspólnotowego kształtowania środowiska mieszkaniowego
PublicationCommunity based shaping of housing environmentA sustainable development of housing environment depends on socio-economical context. Interest towards locality in western countries has a completely different basis than in the post-communist ones. Social capital, which shows e.g. in trust, as well as ecological awareness are totally different. We do not belong to saturated societies. There is a distinct issue of community shaping...

Automatic recognition of therapy progress among children with autism
PublicationThe article presents a research study on recognizing therapy progress among children with autism spectrum disorder. The progress is recognized on the basis of behavioural data gathered via five specially designed tablet games. Over 180 distinct parameters are calculated on the basis of raw data delivered via the game flow and tablet sensors - i.e. touch screen, accelerometer and gyroscope. The results obtained confirm the possibility...

Modeling energy consumption of parallel applications
PublicationThe paper presents modeling and simulation of energy consumption of two types of parallel applications: geometric Single Program Multiple Data (SPMD) and divide-and-conquer (DAC). Simulation is performed in a new MERPSYS environment. Model of an application uses the Java language with extension representing message exchange between processes working in parallel. Simulation is performed by running threads representing distinct process...

Visualization of a lifeboat motion during lowering along ship’s side
PublicationThis paper presents description of a computer program for motion visualization of a lifeboat lowered along ship’s side. The program is a post-processor which reads results of numerical calculations of simulated objects’ motions. The data is used to create scene composed of 3D surfaces to visualize mutual spatial positions of a lifeboat, ship’s side and water waving surface. Since the numerical data contain description of a simulation...

Can Historic Interiors with Large Cubature be Turned Acoustically Correct?
PublicationHistoric interiors with large cubature, such as reception, theatrical, and concert halls, need to be renovated periodically if they are to be preserved as cultural heritage for future generations. In such cases it is necessary to maintain appropriate balance between requirements imposed by heritage conservation authorities office which are usually being given a higher priority, applicable safety regulations, and the comfort of...

Application Isssues of the Semi-Markov Reliability Model
PublicationPredicting the reliability of marine internal combustion engines, for instance, is of particular importance, as it makes it possible to predict their future reliability states based on the information on the past states. Correct reliability prediction is a complex process which consists in processing empirical results obtained from operating practice, complemented by analytical considerations. The process of technical state changes...

Obtaining a Well-Trained Artificial Intelligence Algorithm from Cross-Validation in Endoscopy
PublicationThe article shortly discusses endoscopic video analysis problems and artificial intelligence algorithms supporting it. The most common method of efficiency testing of these algorithms is to perform intensive cross-validation. This allows for accurately evaluate their performance of generalization. One of the main problems of this procedure is that there is no simple and universal way of obtaining a specific instance of a well-trained...

Analysis of the Capability of Deep Learning Algorithms for EEG-based Brain-Computer Interface Implementation
PublicationMachine learning models have received significant attention for their exceptional performance in classifying electroencephalography (EEG) data. They have proven to be highly effective in extracting intricate patterns and features from the raw signal data, thereby contributing to their success in EEG classification tasks. In this study, we explore the possibilities of utilizing contemporary machine learning algorithms in decoding...

Polysaccharide-based electroconductive hydrogels: Structure, properties and biomedical applications
PublicationArchitecting an appropriate platform for biomedical applications requires setting a balance between simplicity and complexity. Polysaccharides (PSAs) play essential roles in our life in food resources, structural materials, and energy storage capacitors. Moreover, the diversity and abundance of PSAs have made them an indispensable part of food ingredients and cosmetics. PSA-based hydrogels have been extensively reviewed in biomedical...

Productivity effects of trade in natural resources—comparison with mechanisms of technological specialisation
PublicationThis paper compares two alternative growth paths, assessing the effects on productivity of specialisation in natural resources (NR) and in technologically advanced products. The empirical analysis exploits product-level export data for 109 developing and 51 developed economies over the period 1996–2018. We document two distinct types of specialisation, based on exports either of natural resources or of technological products, and...

From unextendible product bases to genuinely entangled subspaces
PublicationUnextendible product bases (UPBs) are interesting mathematical objects arising in composite Hilbert spaces that have found various applications in quantum information theory, for instance in a construction of bound entangled states or Bell inequalities without quantum violation. They are closely related to another important notion, completely entangled subspaces (CESs), which are those that do not contain any fully separable pure...

Few-Layer Black Phosphorus/Chitosan Nanocomposite Electrodes via Controlled Electrodeposition for Enhanced Electrochemical Kinetic Performance
PublicationThis study presents the preparation and characterization of few-layer black phosphorus (FLBP) chitosan electrodes by controlled electrochemical deposition of chitosan nanoparticles on FLBP-modified glassy carbon electrodes. FLBP was prepared by solvent-assisted exfoliation of bulk BP and was further modified with chitosan forming together a nanocomposite, including easy cross-linking with nanomaterials and film-forming properties....

Fluctuation-Enhanced Sensing of Organic Vapors by Ink-Printed MoS2 Devices under UV Irradiation
PublicationThis work presents the results of fluctuationenhanced sensing (FES) of selected organic gases by MoS2 sensor fabricated via a simple ink printing method. We demonstrate that low-frequency noise measured under UV irradiation (275 nm) is more sensitive to different gases than measured in the dark. The noise at 1 Hz under UV light increased 3.3, 3.5, 1.6, and 2.9 times for chloroform, tetrahydrofuran, acetonitrile, and acetone ambiances, respectively....

Neoneo-Kantianizm - Transcendental Philosophy as a Reflection on Validity (Geltung)
PublicationThe article presents the philosophical thought of Rudolf Zocher, Wolfgang Cramer and Hans Wagner, whose theoretical stance can be dubbed Neoneo-Kantianism. The article investigates their philosophical output and argues that they developed a transcendental reflection of a different kind than that of Baden Neo-Kantianism. The transcendental reflection of Neoneo-Kantianism, especially in the work of Hans Wag-ner, takes on the topic...

How can HSR promote inter-city collaborative innovation across regional borders?
PublicationMany studies have shown that high-speed rail (HSR) can reshape the spatial pattern of economic geography. However, there needs to be more logical argumentation and rigorous empirical design on the paths and mechanisms involved. This paper considers the impact of the border effect on HSR links and innovation clusters from the perspective of inter-regional collaborative innovation. It provides a logical and compact theoretical...

Hydration of Oxometallate Ions in Aqueous Solution
PublicationThe strength of hydrogen bonding to and structure of hydrated oxometallate ions in aqueous solution have been studied by double difference infrared (DDIR) spectroscopy and large-angle X-ray scattering (LAXS), respectively. Anions are hydrated by accepting hydrogen bonds from the hydrating water molecules. The oxygen atom of the permanganate and perrhenate ions form weaker and longer hydrogen bonds to water than the hydrogen bonds...
