Formaldehyde in Human Saliva as an Indication of Environmental Tobacco Smoke Exposure
PublikacjaSkład środowiskowego dymu tytoniowego zależy przede wszystkim od stosowanej odmiany tytoniu oraz różnorodnych dodatków wprowadzanych do tytoniu na etapie produkcji papierosów. Podczas palenia tytoniu węglowodany ulegają złożonym przemianom, w wyniku których powstają toksyczne składniki środowiskowego dymu tytoniowego, w szczególności aldehydy (formaldehyd). Celem badań było uzyskanie informacji o poziomie zawartości formaldehydu...

Human carnosinases: A brief history, medicinal relevance, and in silico analyses
PublikacjaCarnosine, an endogenous dipeptide, has been found to have a plethora of medicinal properties, such as antioxidant, antiageing, and chelating effects, but with one downside: a short half-life. Carnosinases and two hydrolytic enzymes, which remain enigmatic, are responsible for these features. Hence, here we emphasize why research is valuable for better understanding crucial concepts like ageing, neurodegradation, and cancerogenesis,...

Pathological and physiological high-frequency oscillations in focal human epilepsy
PublikacjaHigh-frequency oscillations (HFO; gamma: 40-100 Hz, ripples: 100-200 Hz, and fast ripples: 250-500 Hz) have been widely studied in health and disease. These phenomena may serve as biomarkers for epileptic brain; however, a means of differentiating between pathological and normal physiological HFO is essential. We categorized task-induced physiological HFO during periods of HFO induced by a visual or motor task by measuring frequency,...

Smart Document-Centric Processing of Human Oriented Information Flows
PublikacjaUsually people prefer to focus on creative rather than repetitive and schematic work patterns. Still, they must spend a lot of time complying with the procedures, selecting the information they receive and repeatedly restoring the previous state of work. This paper proposes the Mobile INteractive Document architecture (MIND) - a document-centric uniform interface to provide both effective communication of content and coordination...

An unusual four-nuclear Pb(II)-pyrrole-2-carboxylato polymer: The effect of the lone pair and non-covalent interactions on the supramolecular assembly and fluorescence properties
PublikacjaThe reaction of Pb(NO3)2 with 1H-pyrrole-2-carboxylic acid (2prCOOH) leads to the formation of a new four-nuclear Pb(II) polymer, [Pb4(2prCOO)8(H2O)]n, which has been characterized by CHN, FT-IR, TG, PL and single-crystal X-ray diffraction methods. In view of the primary Pb–O bonds, Pb1 and Pb3 show hemidirected pentagonal pyramidal geometries, while Pb2 and Pb4 display hemidirected octahedral geometries. The topology of the strongest...
