Unsupervised machine-learning classification of electrophysiologically active electrodes during human cognitive task performance
PublikacjaIdentification of active electrodes that record task-relevant neurophysiological activity is needed for clinical and industrial applications as well as for investigating brain functions. We developed an unsupervised, fully automated approach to classify active electrodes showing event-related intracranial EEG (iEEG) responses from 115 patients performing a free recall verbal memory task. Our approach employed new interpretable...

On–line Parameter and Delay Estimation of Continuous–Time Dynamic Systems
PublikacjaThe problem of on-line identification of non-stationary delay systems is considered. The dynamics of supervised industrial processes are usually modeled by ordinary differential equations. Discrete-time mechanizations of continuous-time process models are implemented with the use of dedicated finite-horizon integrating filters. Least-squares and instrumental variable procedures mechanized in recursive forms are applied for simultaneous...

FPGA Based Real Time Simulations of the Face Milling Process
PublikacjaThe article presents a successful implementation of the milling process simulation at the Field-Programmable Gate Array (FPGA). By using FPGA, very rigorous Real-Time (RT) simulation requirements can be met. The response time of the FPGA simulations is significantly reduced, and the time synchronization is better than in a typical RT system implemented in software. The FPGA-based approach is characterized by enormous flexibility...

Dynamical nonlocality in quantum time via modular operators
PublikacjaWe formalize the concept of the modular energy operator within the Page and Wootters timeless framework. As a result, this operator is elevated to the same status as the more studied modular operators of position and momentum. In analogy with dynamical nonlocality in space associated with the modular momentum, we introduce and analyze the nonlocality in time associated with the modular energy operator. Some applications of our...

A New Method of Noncausal Identification of Time-varying Systems
PublikacjaThe paper shows that the problem of noncausal identification of a time-varying FIR (finite impulse response) sys- tem can be reformulated, and solved, as a problem of smoothing of the preestimated parameter trajectories. Characteristics of the smoothing filter should be chosen so as to provide the best trade- off between the bias and variance of the resulting estimates. It is shown that optimization of the smoothing operation can...

Modelling and simulations in time-fractional electrodynamics based on control engineering methods
PublikacjaIn this paper, control engineering methods are presented with regard to modelling and simulations of signal propagation in time-fractional (TF) electrodynamics. That is, signal propagation is simulated in electromagnetic media described by Maxwell’s equations with fractional-order constitutive relations in the time domain. We demonstrate that such equations in TF electrodynamics can be considered as a continuous-time system of...

Altruists will be altruists, but what about individualists? The role of future time perspective and social value orientation in volunteers’ declarations to continue engagement in three time horizons
PublikacjaVolunteering involves caring for the outcomes of others and typically long-term orientation so that one can achieve goals that are not always clearly visible in the short term. As with any activity, volunteering attracts people of different social value orientations – some rather individualistic, some rather altruistic. The aim of the study was to find out whether the future time perspective, which promotes thinking about future...

Performance Analysis of Machine Learning Methods with Class Imbalance Problem in Android Malware Detection
PublikacjaDue to the exponential rise of mobile technology, a slew of new mobile security concerns has surfaced recently. To address the hazards connected with malware, many approaches have been developed. Signature-based detection is the most widely used approach for detecting Android malware. This approach has the disadvantage of being unable to identify unknown malware. As a result of this issue, machine learning (ML) for detecting malware...

Hopf bifurcation in time‐delayed gene expression model with dimers
PublikacjaWe study a mathematical model of gene transcription and protein synthesis with negative feedback. We consider a system of equations taking into account the formation of dimers (i.e., complex formed by two protein monomers), the way in which dimers bind to DNA and time delay in translation process. For the model consisting of three ordinary differential equations with time delay, we derive conditions for stability of the positive...

Electronic structure and time-dependent description of rotational predissociation of LiH
PublikacjaThe adiabatic potential energy curves of the ^1Sigma+ and ^1Pi states of the LiH molecule were calculated. How to meet when you forget: log-space rendezvous in arbitrary graphs
PublikacjaTwo identical (anonymous) mobile agents start from arbitrary nodes in an a priori unknown graph and move synchronously from node to node with the goal of meeting. This rendezvous problem has been thoroughly studied, both for anonymous and for labeled agents, along with another basic task, that of exploring graphs by mobile agents. The rendezvous problem is known to be not easier than graph exploration. A well-known recent result...
