Obserwacje mikroskopowe powierzchni i przekroju rury ukazały drobne pęknięcia w ściance wynikające z procesu selektywnego utleniania. Zastosowano metodę elementów skończonych w celu ustalenia zależności postępu korozji od ciśnienia i obciążenia cieplnego.
