GreedyMAX-type Algorithms for the Maximum Independent Set Problem
PublikacjaA maximum independent set problem for a simple graph G = (V,E) is to find the largest subset of pairwise nonadjacent vertices. The problem is known to be NP-hard and it is also hard to approximate. Within this article we introduce a non-negative integer valued functionp defined on the vertex set V(G) and called a potential function of agraph G, while P(G) = max{vinV(G)| p(v)} is called a potential of G. For any graph P(G) <= D(G),...

A SEARCH OF AN INDUCER GEOMETRY THAT IS BENEFICIAL FOR LIFTING PARAMETERS OF A LIFTED OBJECT OF A SELECTED SHAPE
PublikacjaThe literature describes acoustic levitation phenomena with the utilization of air squeeze film between the vibrating inducer and the lifted object. The objective of the study is to determine the shape of the inducer with vibration characteristics that would allow the levitation of an object of the assumed geometry. In this paper, the influence of the dimension ratio of the inducer on the frequency of the first mode of vibration...

Buried Object Characterization Using Ground Penetrating Radar Assisted by Data-Driven Surrogate-Models
PublikacjaThis work addresses artificial-intelligence-based buried object characterization using 3-D full-wave electromagnetic simulations of a ground penetrating radar (GPR). The task is to characterize cylindrical shape, perfectly electric conductor (PEC) object buried in various dispersive soil media, and in different positions. The main contributions of this work are (i) development of a fast and accurate data driven surrogate modeling...

Terminological and Assertional Queries in KQL Knowledge Access Language
PublikacjaOne of the directions of development of information systems in recent years in the evolution of data-based systems into the knowledge-based systems. As a part of this process there is ongoing work on a whole range of languages for accessing knowledge bases. They can be used in a variety of applications, however their main drawback is the lack of clearly defined algebra representing a theoretical basis for them. For instance, such...

Molecular Recognition in Complexes of TRF Proteins with Telomeric DNA
PublikacjaTelomeres are specialized nucleoprotein assemblies that protect the ends of linear chromosomes. In humans and many other species, telomeres consist of tandem TTAGGG repeats bound by a protein complex known as shelterin that remodels telomeric DNA into a protective loop structure and regulates telomere homeostasis. Shelterin recognizes telomeric repeats through its two major components known as Telomere Repeat-Binding Factors, TRF1...

Daylighting Education in Practice Verification of a new goal within a European knowledge investigation
PublikacjaTwo independent surveys were conducted in 2017 and in 2018 among architecture students across Europe to investigate their knowledge on daylighting and the impact of that knowledge on the visual perception of daylit spaces. A total of 600 responders were involved. This paper presents findings from the second survey, which was distributed in six European countries. Based on the findings from the first survey, a new goal was set for...

Reduced-Cost Microwave Design Closure by Multi-Resolution EM Simulations and Knowledge-Based Model Management
PublikacjaParameter adjustment through numerical optimization has become a commonplace of contemporary microwave engineering. Although circuit theory methods are ubiquitous in the development of microwave components, the initial designs obtained with such tools have to be further tuned to improve the system performance. This is particularly pertinent to miniaturized structures, where the cross-coupling effects cannot be adequately accounted...

Emergent approach to Knowledge Management by Small Companies: multiple case-study research
PublikacjaPurpose: The aim of this paper is to examine knowledge management approach followed by small companies on the example of firms from the knowledge-intensive business services (KIBS) sector. Design/methodology/approach: The study is based on the results of a qualitative survey involving 12 owners and managers of small companies operating in the KIBS sector. The survey uses the case study method. Findings: The findings confirm that...

Using Disparity Map for Moving Object Position Estimation in Pan Tilt Camera Images
PublikacjaIn this paper we present the algorithm for rapid moving object position estimation in an images acquired from pan tilt camera. Detection of a moving object in a image acquired from a moving camera might be quite challenging. Standard methods that relay on analyzing two consecutive frames are not applicable due to the changing background. To overtake this problem we decided to evaluate the possibility of calculating a disparity...

Automatic evaluation of information credibility in Semantic Web and Knowledge Grid
PublikacjaThis article presents a novel algorithm for automatic estimation of information credibility. It concerns information collected in Knowledge Grid and Semantic Web. Possibilities to evaluate the credibility of information in such structures are much greater than those available for WWW sites which use natural language. The rating system presented in this paper estimates credibility automatically on the basis of the following metrics:...

Dual inhibition of PI3K/Akt signaling and the DNA damage checkpoint in p53-deficient cells with strong survival signaling: implications for cancer therapy
W pracy badaliśmy rolę szlaku kinazy PI3K/Akt w funkcjonowaniu punktu kontrolnego cyklu komórkowego i wpływ na przeżycie komórek traktowanych lekiem przeciwnowotworowym - cisplatyną. Nasze...

Importance of artificial intelligence to support the process of anaerobicdigestion of kitchen waste with bioplastics / Znaczenie sztucznej inteligencji we wspomaganiu procesu beztlenowej fermentacji odpadów kuchennych zawierających bioplastiki
PublikacjaArtificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning were used to obtain more effective methods for conducting the digestion process and achieving final products. Data acquisition was carried out by an automatic monitoring and anal. research. The knowledge describing the anaerobic digestion process was summarized in the form of rules: IF (premise) THEN (conclusion). The compiled set of rules created a knowledge base of the expert...

Multiscaled Hybrid Features Generation for AdaBoost Object Detection
PublikacjaThis work presents the multiscaled version of modified census features in graphical objects detection with AdaBoost cascade training algorithm. Several experiments with face detector training process demonstrate better performance of such features over ordinal census and Haar-like approaches. The possibilities to join multiscaled census and Haar features in single hybrid cascade of strong classifiers are also elaborated and tested....

Prevalence Problem in the Set of Quadratic Stochastic Operators Acting on L1
PublikacjaThis paper is devoted to the study of the problem of prevalence in the class of quadratic stochastic operators acting on the L1 space for the uniform topology. We obtain that the set of norm quasi-mixing quadratic stochastic operators is a dense and open set in the topology induced by a very natural metric. This shows the typical long-term behaviour of iterates of quadratic stochastic operators.
