Knowledge management in the IPv6 migration process
PublicationThere are many reasons to deploy IPv6 protocol with IPv4 address space depletion being the most obvious. Unfortunately, migration to IPv6 protocol seems slower than anticipated. To improve pace of the IPv6 deployment, authors of the article developed an application that supports the migration process. Its main purpose is to help less experienced network administrators to facilitate the migration process with a particular target...

Using Redis supported by NVRAM in HPC applications
PublicationNowadays, the efficiency of storage systems is a bottleneck in many modern HPC clusters. High performance in the traditional approach – processing using files – is often difficult to obtain because of a model’s complexity and its read/write patterns. An alternative approach is to apply a key-value database, which usually has low latency and scales well. On the other hand, many key-value stores suffer from a limitation of memory...

Exploring Impact of Requirements Engineering on Other IT Project Areas – Case Study
PublicationRequirements Engineering (RE) is recognized as one of the most important (yet difficult) areas of software engineering that has a significant impact on other areas of IT projects and their final outcomes. Empirical studies investigating this impact are hard to conduct, mainly due to the great effort required. It is thus difficult for both researchers and industry practitioners to make evidence-based evaluations about how decisions...

Operation of the system is controlled by software written in C++ using OpenZWave library. Some metrological aspects of the system are evaluated: accuracy, linearity, resolution and frequency of voltage measurements.

On zero-error codes produced by greedy algorithms
PublicationWe present two greedy algorithms that determine zero-error codes and lower bounds on the zero-error capacity. These algorithms have many advantages, e.g., they do not store a whole product graph in a computer memory and they use the so-called distributions in all dimensions to get better approximations of the zero-error capacity. We also show an additional application of our algorithms.

Path integrals formulations leading to propagator evaluation for coupled linear physics in large geometric models
PublicationReformulating linear physics using second kind Fredholm equations is very standard practice. One of the straightforward consequences is that the resulting integrals can be expanded (when the Neumann expansion converges) and probabilized, leading to path statistics and Monte Carlo estimations. An essential feature of these algorithms is that they also allow to estimate propagators for all types of sources, including initial conditions....

The correlation between flatness errors of the lap and flatness errors of the workpieces was checked experimentally and determined analytically. Computer model of the workpiece shaping by lapping was developed. Evaluation method of the workpiece orientation as well as some simulation results for a lap with shape errors of convexity and cincavity...

GROUP COMPOSER - System for Modeling Agents’ Team Building for Tasks
PublicationMulti-agent systems consist of many autonomous units, called agents, that can interact when trying to achieve their goals. The selection of interaction partners is called team formation. Three basic approaches can be considered to match multi-agent system resources to the problem at hand. To research the properties of different approaches, a software for modeling team formation in multi-agent systems has been created and is presented...

Modelling of Different Aeration Modes Influencing Processes in SBR Bioreactor
PublicationCurrently, computer modelling together with the simulation tools tailored for that purpose constitute a very important element in planning technological changes within wastewater treatment plant. From the point of view of the WWTP operator every modification should be introduced in order to improve the quality of treated sewage with the lowest financial outlays. These requirements can be met by using computer programmes to effectuate...

Head movement compensation algorithm in multi-display communication by gaze
PublicationAn influence of head movements on the gaze estimation accuracy when using a head mounted eye tracking system is discussed in the paper. This issue has been examined for a multi-display environment. It was found that head movement (rotation) to some extent does not influence on the gaze estimation accuracy seriously. Acceptable results were obtained when using eye-tracker to communicate with a computer via in two displays simultaneously.
