Very accurate time propagation of coupled Schrödinger equations for femto- and attosecond physics and chemistry, with C++ source code
PublikacjaIn this article, I present a very fast and high-precision (up to 33 decimal places) C++ implementation of the semi-global time propagation algorithm for a system of coupled Schrödinger equations with a time-dependent Hamiltonian. It can be used to describe time-dependent processes in molecular systems after excitation by femto- and attosecond laser pulses. It also works with an arbitrary user supplied Hamiltonian and can be used...

Fake VIP Attacks and Their Mitigation via Double-Blind Reputation
PublikacjaIn a generic setting subsuming communication networks, resource sharing systems, and multi-agent communities, a client generates objects of various classes carrying class-dependent signatures, to which a server assigns class-dependent service quality. A Fake VIP attack consists in false declaration of a high class, with an awareness that detection of object signature at the server side is costly and so invoked reluctantly. We show...

Sequence variants of p21 gene of the MRL/MpJ mouse: a possible association with the deficit of p21 protein and regenerative phenotype.
PublikacjaThe MRL/MpJ mouse is known for its enhanced regeneration abilities that manifested themselves by scarless ear-hole wound closure. The deficit of p21 found in the MRL is associated with the regenerative capacity as the p21 gene knockout in a mouse strain unrelated to the MRL mouse results in an ear-hole closure effect, similar to that observed in the MRL mouse. Cdkn1a gene encodes p21 protein, a cyclin-dependent kinase inhibitor,...

Catalytic Mechanism of Non-Target DNA Cleavage in CRISPR-Cas9 Revealed by Ab Initio Molecular Dynamics
PublikacjaCRISPR-Cas9 is a cutting-edge genome editing technology, which uses the endonuclease Cas9 to introduce mutations at desired sites of the genome. This revolutionary tool is promising to treat a myriad of human genetic diseases. Nevertheless, the molecular basis of DNA cleavage, which is a fundamental step for genome editing, has not been established. Here, quantum–classical molecular dynamics (MD) and free energy methods are used...

Strain sequence effect on fatigue life and fracture surface topography of 7075-T651 aluminium alloy
PublikacjaThe paper studies the effect of strain-loading sequence on fatigue lifetime and fracture surface topographies in 7075-T651 aluminum alloy specimens. Fatigue tests were performed in two ways: (i) constant-amplitude loading and (ii) two series of variable amplitude loading with non-zero mean strain values. The topography of the fatigue fractures was measured over their entire surfaces with the help of an optical confocal measurement...

Recent progress in the development of steroid sulfatase inhibitors – examples of the novel and most promising compounds from the last decade
PublikacjaThe purpose of this review article is to provide an overview of recent achievements in the synthesis of novel steroid sulfatase (STS) inhibitors. STS is a crucial enzyme in the biosynthesis of active hormones (including estrogens and androgens) and, therefore, represents an extremely attractive molecular target for the development of hormone-dependent cancer therapies. The inhibition of STS may effectively reduce the availability...

Stiffness of cold-recycled mixtures under variable deformation conditions in the IT-CY test
PublikacjaStiffness modulus belongs to the most important properties describing the cold-recycled mixtures (CRM) in terms of their usability in road pavement structures. Previous research proved that this property is strongly dependent on the scheme and conditions of the test (temperature and time of loading) and the time that has passed since the compaction of the specimen or pavement layer. It is a result of the influence of two different...

Resonant ultrasonic spectroscopy in high-voltage varistor spectroscopy
PublikacjaResonant spectroscopy is an effective non-destructive testing method focused on defects in tested objects. The testing procedure, based on the resonant pattern, allows rejection of the tested samples with defects which do not fit the pattern. A sweeping frequency method has been used to measure the spectrum of resonances in high-voltage varistors. As a result we can observe resonances that depend directly on inhomogeneity of the...

Electronic structure and rovibrational predissociation of the 2^1Π state in KLi
PublikacjaAdiabatic potential energy curves of the 3^1Σ^+, 3^3Σ^+, 2^1Π and 2^3Π states correlating for large internuclear distance with the K(4s) + Li(2p) atomic asymptote were calculated. Very good agreement between the calculated and the experimental curve of the 2^1Π state allowed for a reliable description of the dissociation process through a small (∼20 cm−1 for J = 0) potential energy barrier. The barrier supports several rovibrational...

A Model-Order Reduction Approach for Electromagnetic Problems With Nonaffine Frequency Dependence
PublikacjaThe aim of this paper is to present a novel model-order reduction (MOR) technique for the efcient frequency-domain nite-element method (FEM) simulation of microwave components. It is based on the standard reduced-basis method, but the subsequent expansion frequency points are selected following the so-called sparsied greedy strategy. This feature makes it especially useful to perform a fast-frequency sweep of problems that lead...

PublikacjaHydraulic telescopic cylinders are used to power the moving wall of rear loader garbage trucks equipped with the traditional "sweep and slide" system. As the garbage compression force is directly dependent on the resistance force of the moving wall, losses in the hydraulic telescopic cylinder influence the compaction process. Taking them into account in the control system may improve the operation of the compaction...

Modal FEM Analysis of Ferrite Resonant Structures
PublikacjaThe finite-element method (FEM) is applied for modal analysis of ferrite-loaded spherical resonators. To improve the efficiency of the numerical calculations, the body-of-revolution (BOR) technique is utilized. Due to the frequency-dependent ferrite permeability, FEM leads to a nonlinear eigenvalue problem that is challenging to solve. To this end, Beyn’s method is proposed. The effectiveness of the proposed approach is confirmed...
