Local dynamics of fluids and dielectrics as the foundation of signal-carrying wave properties
PublicationThis paper develops an original approach to fundamental problems of classical linear acoustics and electromagnetics, proving a crucial role of doubly-dynamic local properties of a propagation medium in supporting wave-like fields able to carry information signals. The proof is composed of two steps concerning, subsequently, fluid acoustics and dielectric electromagnetics. The first step consists in complementing a common, practically...

Polyarmonic model of synchronous generator for analysis of autonomous power generation systems
PublicationAbstract: This paper presents the polyharmonic modelling of synchronous generator (SG) in machine variables. The simple geometry and windings physical layout has been used for inductance calculations of a salient-pole SG. The main advantage of this model is the ease of describing an autonomous power generation system (APGS) in terms of its topology and thus providing effective analysis at the static and dynamic states, both for...

Analiza przepływu oleju przez rowek smarowy wzdłużnego łożyska ślizgowego z wykorzystaniem komputerowej dynamiki płynów (CFD) = Analysis of the lubricant flow through the hydrodynamic thrust bearings groove with the use of computational fluid dynamic
Obecnie wymagania stawiane nowym konstrukcjom łożysk ślizgowych to zwiększanie...

A method of quasi linearization is adopted. Suffcient conditions for the convergence of the method of lines and error estimates for approximate solutions are presented. The proof of the stability of the diffrential difference...

Monotone iterative method to second order differential equations with deviating arguments involving Stieltjes integral boundary conditions
PublicationWe use a monotone iterative method for second order differential equations with deviating arguments and boundary conditions involving Stieltjes integrals. We establish sufficient conditions which guarantee that such problems have extremal solutions in the corresponding region bounded by lower and upper solutions. We also discuss the situation when problems have coupled quasi-solutions. We illustrate our results by three examples.

Using a monotone iterative method, we formulate sufficient conditions which guarantee the existence of extremal or quasi-solutions in the corresponding region bounded by upper and lower solutions of our problems. The case when a unique solution exists is also investigated. Some examples are given to illustrate...

Improving performance of large thrust bearings through modeling and experimentation
PublicationLarge thrust bearings are highly loaded machine elements and their failures cause serious losses. Start ups and stoppages of the bearing under load are specially critical regimes of operation. Load carrying capacity depends on the profile of the oil gap. In transient states this profile is also changing. In the design of large thrust bearings minimizing thermo-elastic deformations is an important goal, which can be accomplished...

Dynamics of Chains as a Tool to Study Thermomechanical Properties of Proteins.
PublicationPolymer dynamics can be formulated on different levels of detail. One approach eliminates microscopic degrees of freedom and a polymer molecule is represented by a simplified structure—a chain. In the simplest case monomers of ideal chain have fixed length, and their orientation is independent of the orientations and positions of neighbouring monomers. This is reason that two monomers can co-exist at the same place. Ideal chain...

By imposing Hamilton's principle and the von Kármán approach, the governing equations...

Simulation model for evaluation of packet sequence changed order of stream in DiffServ network

Low-dimensional bound entanglement with one-way distillable cryptographic key

The smallest state of this kind is 4 circle times 4, which shows that peculiar security contained in bound entangled states does not need high-dimensional systems. We show that for these states a positive key rate can be obtained by one-way Devetak-Winter (DW) protocol. Subsequently, the volume of bound entangled key-distillable...

A few steps more towards NPT bound entanglement
PublicationIn this paper, existence of bound entangled states with nonpositive partial transpose (NPT) is considered. As one knows, existence of such states would in particular imply nonadditivity of distillable entanglement. Moreover, it would rule out a simple mathematical description of the set of distillable states. The particular state, known to be 1-copy nondistillable and supposed to be bound entangled, is considered. The problem of...
