Impact of Shifting Time-Window Post-Processing on the Quality of Face Detection Algorithms
PublikacjaWe consider binary classification algorithms, which operate on single frames from video sequences. Such a class of algorithms is named OFA (One Frame Analyzed). Two such algorithms for facial detection are compared in terms of their susceptibility to the FSA (Frame Sequence Analysis) method. It introduces a shifting time-window improvement, which includes the temporal context of frames in a post-processing step that improves the...

Applying molecular dynamics simulation to take the fracture fingerprint of polycrystalline SiC nanosheets
PublikacjaGraphene-like nanosheets are the key elements of advanced materials and systems. The mechanical behavior of the structurally perfect 2D nanostructures is well documented, but that of polycrystalline ones is less understood. Herein, we applied molecular dynamics simulation (MDS) to take the fracture fingerprint of polycrystalline SiC nanosheets (PSiCNS), where monocrystalline SiC nanosheets (MSiCNS) was the reference nanosheet....

The importance of degradation in the fate of selected organic compounds in the environment. Part II. Photodegradation and biodegradation
PublikacjaDegradacja jest naturalnym, wszechobecnym procesem rozkładu substancji organicznych obecnych w środowisku. Produkty degradacji lub pośrednie produkty rozkładu związków organicznych często wykazują inną toksyczność w stosunku do mikroorganizmów, zwierząt i ludzi niż związki wyjściowe. Procesy fotodegradacji i biodegradacji zachodzą zwykle jednocześnie. Fotodegradacja uznawana jest za wstępny proces, po którym następuje rozkład...

Curb-to-Barrier Face Distance Variation an a TB51 Bridge Barrier Crash Test Simulation
PublikacjaThis paper addresses the problem of road safety regarding barrier placement as relative to the curb. A short summary of existing regulations is presented. Numerical simulations using the explicit finite element system Ls- Dyna are shown. In the analysis, variable distance between the barrier and the curb is assumed. The obtained result reveals that the distance has little impact on the working width of the barrier.
