Positive solutions for second order impulsive differential equations involving Stieltjes integral conditions
PublicationIn this paper we investigate integral boundary value problems for fourth order differentialequations with deviating arguments.Wediscuss our problem both for advanced or delayedarguments. We establish sufficient conditions under which such problems have positivesolutions. To obtain the existence of multiple (at least three) positive solutions, we use afixed point theorem due to Avery and Peterson. An example is also included to...

On solvability of initial boundary-value problems of micropolar elastic shells with rigid inclusions
PublicationThe problem of dynamics of a linear micropolar shell with a finite set of rigid inclusions is considered. The equations of motion consist of the system of partial differential equations (PDEs) describing small deformations of an elastic shell and ordinary differential equations (ODEs) describing the motions of inclusions. Few types of the contact of the shell with inclusions are considered. The weak setup of the problem is formulated...

The Palais–Smale condition for the Hamiltonian action on a mixed regularity space of loops in cotangent bundles and applications
PublicationWe show that the Hamiltonian action satisfies the Palais-Smale condition over a “mixed regular- ity” space of loops in cotangent bundles, namely the space of loops with regularity H^s, s ∈ (1/2, 1), in the baseand H^{1−s} in the fiber direction. As an application, we give a simplified proof of a theorem of Hofer-Viterbo on the existence of closed characteristic leaves for certain contact type hypersufaces in cotangent bundles.

Thermal Self-Action of Acoustic Beams Containing Several Shock Fronts
PublicationThermal self-action of an acoustic beam with one discontinuity or several shock fronts is studied in a Newtonian fluid. The stationary self-action of a single sawtooth wave with discontinuity (or some integer number of these waves), symmetric or asymmetric, is considered in the cases of self-focusing and self- defocusing media. The results are compared with the non-stationary thermal self-action of the periodic sound. Thermal self-action...

PublicationAn experimental high-level synthesis (HLS) of the residue number system (RNS) to two’s-complement system (TCS) converter in the Vivado Xilinx FPGA environment is shown. The assumed approach makes use of the Chinese Remainder Theorem I (CRT I). The HLS simplifies and accelerates the design and implementation process, moreover the HLS synthesized architecture requires less hardware by about 20% but the operational frequency is smaller...

We use both the method of successive approximations, the Banach fixed point theorem and the monotone iterative technique, as well. Linear problems...

Dynamics of Field Line Mappings in Magnetic Flux Tubes
PublicationWe study the topological constraints on the dynamics of magnetic field lines in flux tubes. Our approach is based on the application of the topological invariant: fixed point index. We consider periodic flux tubes and find various restrictions on the field lines that come from the sequence of fixed point indices of iterations. We also analyze the case of a tube with a cylindrical obstacle, deducing some special dynamical properties...

Integrable zero-range potentials in a plane
PublicationWe examine general statements in the Wronskian representation of Darboux transformations for plane zero-range potentials. Such expressions naturally contain scattering problem solution. We also apply Abel theorem to Wronskians for differential equations and link it to chain equations for Darboux transforms to fix conditions for further development of the underlying distribution concept. Moutard transformations give a convenient...

Zero-knowledge convincing protocol on quantum bit is impossible
PublicationIt is one of fundamental features of quantum formalism that o n one hand it provides a new infor- mation processing resources and on the other hand puts funda mental constraints on the processing of quantum information implying “no-go” theorems for cloni ng [1–3], bit commitment [4, 5] and deleting [6] in quantum theory. Here we ask about possibilit y of “zero knowledge” scenario which, for its simplicity, can be considered as...

Mining Knowledge of Respiratory Rate Quantification and Abnormal Pattern Prediction
PublicationThe described application of granular computing is motivated because cardiovascular disease (CVD) remains a major killer globally. There is increasing evidence that abnormal respiratory patterns might contribute to the development and progression of CVD. During the past thirty years there has been a great deal of progress in the use of variational methods to find periodic, homoclinic and heteroclinic solutions...

We investigate the stability of a unique positive steady state and formulate conditions which guarantee the occurrence of the Hopf bifurcation. We show that oscillatory behaviour can be caused not only by time lag in protein transcription process, but also can be present in the model without time delay. Moreover, we investigate...

Standing Waves in a Rectangular Resonator Containing Acoustically Active Gases
PublicationThe distribution of perturbations of pressure and velocity in a rectangular resonator is considered. A resonator contains a gas where thermodynamic processes take place, such as exothermic chemical reaction or excitation of vibrational degrees of a molecule’s freedom. These processes make the gas acoustically active under some conditions. We conclude that the incident and reflected compounds of a sound beam do not interact in the...

Subharmonic solutions for a class of Lagrangian systems
PublicationWe prove that second order Hamiltonian systems with a potential of class C1, periodic in time and superquadratic at infinity with respect to the space variable have subharmonic solutions. Our intention is to generalise a result on subharmonics for Hamiltonian systems with a potential satisfying the global Ambrosetti-Rabinowitz condition from [P. H. Rabinowitz, Proc. Roy. Soc. Edinburgh Sect. A, 114 (1990), 33-38]. Indeed, we weaken...

Critical Remarks on Landauer’s principle of erasure– dissipation: Including notes on Maxwell demons and Szilard engines

Dynamics of quantum entanglement
PublicationA model of discrete dynamics of entanglement of a bipartite quantum state is considered. It involves a global unitary dynamics of the system and periodic actions of local bistochastic or decaying channel. For initially pure states the decay of entanglement is accompanied by an increase of von Neumann entropy of the system. We observe and discuss revivals of entanglement due to unitary interaction of subsystems. For some mixed states...

Bistability in a One-Dimensional Model of a Two-Predators-One-Prey Population Dynamics System

Besides, we describe the bifurcation structure of the map. Finally, we describe a mechanism that leads to bistable regimes. Taking this mechanism into account, one can easily...

We focus on deriving of equations which govern nonlinear excitation of the non-wave motions by the intense sound in initially static gaseous plasma. The plasma is treated as an ideal gas with finite electrical conductivity permeated by a magnetic field orthogonal to the trajectories of gas particles. This introduces dispersion of a flow. Magnetoacoustic...
