Synthesis and biological activity of ester derivatives of mycophenolic acid and acridines/acridones as potential immunosuppressive agents
PublicationImproved derivatives of mycophenolic acid (MPA) are necessary to reduce the frequency of adverse effects, this drug exerts in treated patients. In this study, MPA was coupled with N-(x-hydroxyalkyl)-9-acridone-4-carboxamides or N-(x-hydroxyalkyl)acridine-4-carboxamides to give respective ester conjugates upon Yamaguchi protocol. The mechanical properties and bactericidal degradation effectiveness of tannic acid-based thin films for wound care
PublicationThe surface area is the most important aspect when considering the interactions between a material and the surrounding environment. Chitosan (CTS) and tannic acid (TA) were previously successfully tested by us to obtain thin films to serve as wound dressings or food packaging materials. However, surface properties as well as the antimicrobial activity of the material were not considered. They are important if the material is likely...

Synthesis of 2-amino-2,6-dideoxy-D-glucitol-6-sulfonic acid as a potential antifungal agent.
PublicationGlucosamine-6P (GlcN-6P) synthase catalyzes the first committed step in the biosynthetic pathway leading to the formation of UDP-GlcNAc, a sugar nucleotide precursor providing D-glucosamine for the formation of chitin and manoproteins. 2-Amino-2,6-dideoxy-D-glucitol-6-sulfonic acid is an analog of 2-amino-2-deoxy-D-glucitol 6-phosphate (GlcN-ol-6-P), a known inhibitor of GlcN-6-P synthase, in which the phosphate group of the latter...

Amelanotic (Ab) melanoma (with inhibited melanogenesis and higher malignancy) was particularly sensitive to the action of the chloroacridines. The Ab melanoma cells died through apoptosis and through death without caspase activation. Diminished activity of TAC enzymes was noticed among Ab melanoma cells together with ATP/NAD depletion, especially in the...
