Comparison of Absorbed and Intercepted Fractions of PAR for Individual Trees Based on Radiative Transfer Model Simulations
PublikacjaThe fraction of absorbed photosynthetically active radiation (fAPAR) is a key parameter for estimating the gross primary production (GPP) of trees. For continuous, dense forest canopies, fAPAR, is often equated with the intercepted fraction, fIPAR. This assumption is not valid for individual trees in urban environments or parkland settings where the canopy is sparse and there are well-defined tree crown boundaries. Here, the distinction...

The resistance of S235JR steel to cavitation erosion
PublikacjaThe erosion resistance of S235JR steel to flow cavitation was investigated. In order to understand an influence of steel properties and cavitation intensities on the degradation mechanisms, low-carbon S235JR steel was tested in the as-received state and after thermal treatment (annealing) under four different flow velocities. Annealing decreased steel hardness, which made S235JR steel less resistant to cavitation erosion. The performed...

Conception and design of a hybrid exciter for brushless synchronous generator. Application for autonomous electrical power systems = Koncepcja i projekt hybrydowej wzbudnicy bezszczotkowego generatora synchronicznego. Zastosowanie w autonomicznych systemach elektroenergetycznych.
PublikacjaThis paper covers a subject of a hybrid excitation system for a brushless synchronous generator working with variable speed in an autonomous energy generation system (e.g. airplane power grid). A hybrid excitation system (hybrid exciter) means a synchronous machine with wound-field and permanent magnet excitation. The hybrid exciter supply a dc field current to the synchronous generator field winding through a rotating rectifier....

Suitability study of hybrid model of electrodynamic actuator
PublikacjaThis paper presents the proposal of the hybrid circuit-field model of an electrodynamic actuator. The field model uses the inductor current as the input data which is obtained from the circuit model or experimentally. The field model implemented using the FLUX program makes it possible to easily determine the pressure distribution acting on the disc. The results have been verified experimentally.

Distribution of the displacement sequence of an orientation preserving circle homeomorphism
PublikacjaIn some applications not only the knowledge of the behaviour of trajectories of a map is important, but also their displacements. We describe in detail the distribution of elements of the displacement sequence along a trajectory of an orientation preserving circle homeomorphism ϕ with irrational rotation number ϱ(ϕ). The values of displacement are dense in a set which depends on the map γ (semi-)conjugating ϕ with the rotation...
