Expedited Geometry Scaling of Compact Microwave Passives by Means of Inverse Surrogate Modeling
PublikacjaIn this paper, the problem of geometry scaling of compact microwave structures is investigated. As opposed to conventional structures (i.e., constructed using uniform transmission lines), re-design of miniaturized circuits (e.g., implemented with artificial transmission lines, ATSs) for different operating frequencies is far from being straightforward due to considerable cross-couplings between the circuit components. Here, we...

Constrained multi-objective optimization of compact microwave circuits by design triangulation and pareto front interpolation
PublikacjaDevelopment of microwave components is an inherently multi-objective task. This is especially pertinent to the design closure stage, i.e., final adjustment of geometry and/or material parameters carried out to improve the electrical performance of the system. The design goals are often conflicting so that the improvement of one normally leads to a degradation of others. Compact microwave passives constitute a representative case:...

Variable-Fidelity Simulation Models and Sparse Gradient Updates for Cost-Efficient Optimization of Compact Antenna Input Characteristics
PublikacjaDesign of antennas for the Internet of Things (IoT) applications requires taking into account several performance figures, both electrical (e.g., impedance matching) and field (gain, radiation pattern), but also physical constraints, primarily concerning size limitation. Fulfillment of stringent specifications necessitates the development of topologically complex structures described by a large number of geometry parameters that...

Structural Dynamics and Stability of Composite Structures
PublikacjaThis an editorial for a special Issue devoted to the application of dynamic and stability analysis of composite structures. In structural applications, past few decades have seen outstanding advances in the use of composite materials including Functionally Graded Materials (FGM). Most structures, whether they are used in civil, marine, or aerospace engineering, are subjected to dynamic loads during their operation. Therefore, dynamic...

Design-Oriented Two-Stage Surrogate Modeling of Miniaturized Microstrip Circuits with Dimensionality Reduction
PublikacjaContemporary microwave design heavily relies on full-wave electromagnetic (EM) simulation tools. This is especially the case for miniaturized devices where EM cross-coupling effects cannot be adequately accounted for using equivalent network models. Unfortunately, EM analysis incurs considerable computational expenses, which becomes a bottleneck whenever multiple evaluations are required. Common simulation-based design tasks include...

Global defensive secure structures
PublikacjaLet S ⊂ V (G) for a given simple non-empty graph G. We define for any nonempty subset X of S the predicate SECG,S(X) = true iff |NG[X]∩S| ≥ |NG[X]\S|. Let H be a non-empty family of graphs such that for each vertex v ∈ V (G) there is a subgraph H of G containing v and isomorphic to a member of H. We introduce the concept of H-alliance extending the concept of global defensive secure structures. By an H-alliance in a graph G we...

Broadband Microstrip Patch Antenna with Reduced Transversal Size
PublikacjaW pracy przedstawiono propozycję anteny szerokopasmowej o ograniczonych wymiarach poprzecznych. Szerokopasmowość uzyskano poprzez stosowanie grubego podłoża i sprzężenia elektromagnetycznego poprzez dwie szczeliny sprzęgające. Wymiar poprzeczny łaty zredukowano poprzez zastosowanie szczeliny typu H. Antena została zaprojektowana i wykonana, zaś zmierzone pasmo wyniosło 29% dla WFS <1.5. Stwierdzono jednak, że charakterystyki...

Nonreciprocity of a ferrite coupled microstrip-slot lines junction
PublikacjaW oparciu o wyniki modelowania numerycznego zbadano efekty niewzajemne występujące w strukturze sekcji sprzężonych poprzez warstwę ferrytu linii mikropaskowej i szczelinowej. Wykazano występowanie zjawiska periodycznej transformacji energii rodzaju mikropaskowego w rodzaj szczelinowy i odwrotnie.

Some remarks on the design of microstrip to coplanar line transformer.
PublikacjaPrzedyskutowano technikę projektowania transformatora standardu umożliwiającego współpracę linii mikropaskowej i linii koplanarnej. Jako sekcję pośrednią wykorzystano uziemiony falowód koplanarny (conductor backed coplanar waveguide). Dokonano oceny różnych profili sekcji pośredniej w oparciu o szereg symulacji elektromagnetycznych, jak i pomiarów charakterystyk transmisji wykonanych modeli transformatorów.

Design of a broadband microstrip crossover for ultra-wideband applications
PublikacjaW pracy przedstawiono badania skrzyżowań linii mikropaskowych do zastosowań w systemach UWB. W procedurze projektowej wykorzystany został model zastępczy skrzyżowania. W celu poprawy parametrów skrzyżowań zaprojektowano dwie konfiguracje obwodów kompensujących. Wyniki numeryczne zweryfikowane zostały eksperymentalnie. Uzyskano dobrą zgodność pomiędzy rezultatami symulacji oraz pomiarów.

Experimental and Numerical Study on Pounding of Structures in Series
PublikacjaPounding between structures in series during earthquakes may cause serious damage in the structural elements. The aim of this paper is to show the results of an experimental and numerical study that is focused on pounding between more than two structures which may be described as “structures in series”. In this study, the shaking table experiments, as well as the numerical analyses, were performed using three tower models including...

Study of the Effectiveness of Model Order Reduction Algorithms in the Finite Element Method Analysis of Multi-port Microwave Structures
PublikacjaThe purpose of this paper is to investigate the effectiveness of model order reduction algorithms in finite element method analysis of multi-port microwave structures. Consideration is given to state of the art algorithms, i.e. compact reduced-basis method (CRBM), second-order Arnoldi method for passive-order reduction (SAPOR), reduced-basis methods (RBM) and subspace-splitting moment-matching MOR (SSMM-MOR)
