PublikacjaWater lubricated polymer bushes find increasingly popular use in the sliding bearings of marine propellers, water turbines and pump shafts. Such popularity is partly due to their simple construction which also means relatively affordable price. In addition, properly designed and installed water lubricated bearings may well last for over a decade. However, in practical experience one may also observe cases of rapid wear...

Obliczanie czasów chłodzenia spawanych łukowo złączy stali odpornych na korozję = Cooling times calculation for stainless steels arc welded joints.
PublikacjaPrzedstawiono wpływ właściwości cieplnych i parametrów spawania stali odpornych na korozję na czas chłodzenia złącza w zakresie temperatur 800-500oC. Przedstawiono analityczne obliczenia tego czasu. W oparciu o wyniki badań rzeczywistych cykli cieplnych spawania stali typu duplex 2205 opracowano wzór do obliczania czasów chłodzenia złącza 800-500 C.

Thermal and technological aspects of double face grinding of C45 carbon steel
PublikacjaIn grinding, the contact zone temperature is a decisive factor influencing the achievable surface quality and the grinding tool wear. In contrast to other grinding processes, only few information regarding double face grinding with planetary kinematics when processing steel is known up to date. Since the successive substitution of in-dustrial double-sided lapping processes by double-sided grinding, it has become necessary to the...

A new diagnostic IR-thermal imaging method for evaluation of cardiosurgery procedures
PublikacjaTwo methods for monitoring the state of the myocardium during cardiosurgical interventions based on thermal IR imaging are presented below. These methods, called static thermography and active dynamic thermography (ADT), use information about the distribution of temperature on the surface, and an external excitation source to induce thermal transient processes in a tested object. Recording the time series of thermograms allows...

IR-THERMAL IMAGING IN CARDIOSURGERY
PublikacjaA method for monitoring the state of the myocardium during cardiosurgical interventions based on thermal IR imaging is presented. These methods called Static Thermography and Active Dynamic Thermography (ADT) uses information about distribution of temperature on the surface and an external excitation source to induce thermal transient processes in a tested object. Recording time series of thermograms allows to calculate parametric...

Assessment of Tensile Strength Reserve of Asphalt Mixtures at Low Temperatures
PublikacjaDuring winter conditions, low-temperature cracks develop at the surface of the asphalt pavement when tensile thermal stress induced in the asphalt layer during cooling equals and exceeds the tensile strength of the material. The paper presents the results of tensile strength reserve assessment of asphalt mixtures with neat and SBS-polymer modified bitumen application. The tensile strength reservewas calculated as difference between...

Bond graph modeling of the new generation engine cooling systems = Zastosowanie metody grafów wiązań do modelowania nowej generacji układów chłodzenia silników spalinowych
PublikacjaW referacie szczegółowo opisano modele wymiany ciepła i przepływów w układzie chłodzenia. Metoda grafów wiązań okazała się szczególnie użyteczną dla modelowania skomplikowanych systemów energetycznych o różnych postaciach energii. Jako przykładu użyto obiegu chłodzenia silnika badawczego na hamowni silnikowej.

Multi-response optimization on the effect of wet and eco-friendly cryogenic turning of D2 steel using Taguchi-based grey relational analysis
PublikacjaMaterial removal processes, including turning and milling, are still commonly used operations for manufacturing most of mechanical components in modern industry. Apart from the cutting parameters, the cooling method has the great impact on the technological efects and, above all, on the environmental friendliness of production. In this study, multi-response optimization on the efect of wet and cryogenic machining is performed during...

Thermal and hydraulic phenomena in boundary layer of minijets impingement on curved surfaces
PublikacjaPresented work considers flow and thermal phenomena occurring during the single minijet impingement on curved surfaces, heated with a constant heat flux, as well as the array of minijets. Numerical analyses, based on the mass, momentum and energy conservation laws, were conducted, regarding single phase and two-phase simulations. Focus was placed on the proper model construction, in which turbulence and boundary layer modeling...

Performance Evaluation of a 650V E-HEMT GaN Power Switch
PublikacjaGaN power switches have better characteristics compared to the state-of-the-art Si power transistors. These devices offer high operating temperature and current densities, fast switching and low on-resistance. However, currently only a few producers offer technology of high voltage GaN transistors. Immaturity of this technology is the reason why experimental evaluation of GaN parameters must be performed to properly exploit their...

Mathematical Modeling of Ice Thrusting on the Shore of the Vistula Lagoon (Baltic Sea) and the Proposed Artificial Island
PublikacjaCoastal lagoons are inland and shallow water bodies, separated from the ocean by a barrier. In cold regions, ice phenomena in shallow water coastal lagoons occur every winter season. Ice is predominantly formed on the surface due to density stratification and surface cooling. The ice dynamics in such areas are dominantly affected by winds. Water dynamics also cause ice movement, but due to the large areal scale of lagoons, the...

Influence of Road Wetness on Tire-Pavement Rolling Resistance
PublikacjaRolling resistance of tires is one of the most important factors influencing energy consumption of road vehicles, especially on rural roads. For practical reasons, most of rolling resistance measurements are usually performed for dry road conditions. Based on the fact that roads are wet during a considerable time over the year and as part of the projects MIRIAM, ROLRES and ROSANNE, the TUG (Technical University of Gdańsk) in Poland...
