On modelling and non-linear elasto-plastic analysis of thin shells with deformable junctions
PublicationThe undeformed base surface of the irregular thin shell is modelled by the union of a finite number of regular smooth surface elements joined together along spatial curvilinear surface edges. The PVW is then discretised by C1 finite elements and the incremental-iterative...

Modelling of FloodWave Propagation with Wet-dry Front by One-dimensional Diffusive Wave Equation
PublicationA full dynamic model in the form of the shallow water equations (SWE) is often useful for reproducing the unsteady flow in open channels, as well as over a floodplain. However, most of the numerical algorithms applied to the solution of the SWE fail when flood wave propagation over an initially dry area is simulated. The main problems are related to the very small or negative values of water depths occurring in the vicinity of...

Integrated model for the fast assessment of flood volume: Modelling – management, uncertainty and sensitivity analysis

It has been shown that its value is greatly influenced by the layout of the sewers in the catchment area, which is usually expressed by a fractal dimension. Currently, only mechanistic models (such as SWMM) enable the determination of the impact of the layout of the sewers on flooding volume, but they require additional and robust...
