Optimal and suboptimal algorithms for identification of time-varying systems with randomly drifting parameters
PublicationNoncausal estimation algorithms, which involve smoothing, can be used for off-line identification of nonstationary systems. Since smoothingis based on both past and future data, it offers increased accuracy compared to causal (tracking) estimation schemes, incorporating past data only. It is shown that efficient smoothing variants of the popular exponentially weighted least squares and Kalman filter-based parameter trackers can...

Thermal Self-Action of Acoustic Beams Containing Several Shock Fronts
PublicationThermal self-action of an acoustic beam with one discontinuity or several shock fronts is studied in a Newtonian fluid. The results are compared with the non-stationary thermal self-action of the periodic sound. Thermal self-action...

The irreversible losses in internal energy are proportional to the total attenuation and depend...

Low-Cost Surrogate Models for Microwave Filters
PublicationA novel low-cost kriging-based multivariable parametric macromodeling technique for microwave filters is presented. The proposed residue-pole-zero (RPZ) technique is demonstrated to efficiently model a high dimensional (8D) microwave filter with pseudoelliptic characteristics.

The BPF is incorporated into the divider structure to suppress the unwanted harmonics within the circuit. The latter is achieved owing to a wide stopband of the filter. The deigned dual-band WPD can suppress third...

Identification of Parameters Influencing the Accuracy of the Solution of the Nonlinear Muskingum Equation
PublicationTwo nonlinear versions of the Muskingum equation are considered. The difference between both equations relates to the exponent parameter. Consequently, the first version of the equation is dimensionally inconsistent, whereas the proposed second one is consistent. It...

PREDICTION OF SHIP MOTIONS IN IRREGULAR WAVES BASED ON RESPONSE AMPLITUDE OPERATORS EVALUATED EXPERIMENTALLY IN NOISE WAVES

The result of the first method is valid only for the tested sea state, whilst the second method is more flexible but less accurate. RAO-based predictions are calculated...
