GENERALISED HERSCHEL MODEL APPLIED TO BLOOD FLOW MODELLING
PublicationThis paper introduces a new rheological model of blood as a certain generalisation of the standard Herschel-Bulkley model. This model is a rheological constitutive equation and belongs to the group of the so-called generalised Newtonian fluids. Experimental data is compared with results, obtained from the new model, to demonstrate that it allows for the best agreement together with Luo-Kuang model. The new model may be easily implemented...

Estimation of time-frequency complex phase-based speech attributes using narrow band filter banks
PublicationIn this paper, we present nonlinear estimators of nonstationary and multicomponent signal attributes (parameters, properties) which are instantaneous frequency, spectral (or group) delay, and chirp-rate (also known as instantaneous frequency slope). We estimate all of these distributions in the time-frequency domain using both finite and infinite impulse response (FIR and IIR) narrow band filers for speech analysis. Then, we present...

Total chromatic sum for trees
PublicationThe total chromatic sum of a graph is the minimum sum of colors (natural numbers) taken over all proper colorings of vertices and edges of a graph. We provide infinite families of trees for which the minimum number of colors to achieve the total chromatic sum is equal to the total chromatic number. We construct infinite families of trees for which these numbers are not equal, disproving the conjecture from 2012.

Acoustic heating produced in the thermoviscous flow of a bingham plastic
PublicationThis study is devoted to the instantaneous acoustic heating of a Bingham plastic. The model of the Bingham plastic's viscous stress tensor includes the yield stress along with the shear viscosity, which differentiates a Bingham plastic from a viscous Newtonian fluid. A special linear combination of the conservation equations in differential form makes it possible to reduce all acoustic terms in the linear part of of the final equation...

Distinguishing views in symmetric networks: A tight lower bound
PublicationThe view of a node in a port-labeled network is an infinite tree encoding all walks in the network originating from this node. We prove that for any integers n ≥ D ≥ 1, there exists a port-labeled network with at most n nodes and diameter at most D which contains a pair of nodes whose (infinite) views are different, but whose views truncated to depth Omega( D log(n/ D )) are identical.

Imitating Quantum Probabilities: Beyond Bell’s Theorem and Tsirelson Bounds
PublicationLocal hidden-variable model of singlet-state correlations discussed in M. Czachor, Acta Phys. Polon. A 139, 70, is shown to be a particular case of an infinite hierarchy of local hidden-variable models based on an infinite hierarchy of calculi. Violation of Bell-type inequalities can be interpreted as a `confusion of languages' problem, a result of mixing different but neighboring levels of the hierarchy. Mixing of non-neighboring...

The aim is to compensate for transmission delay in communication system. Statistically defined performances, e.g. BER (bit error...

Possible effects of the 1984 St. Clair River ice jam on bed changes
PublicationThis study examines the possible effect of the record ice jam of 1984 in the St. Clair River on river bed changes and conveyance. Simulation results indicate that the ice jam in the river did not cause a significant increase in bed shear stress compared to pre- and post-jam open water conditions. The insignificant...

PublicationThis study is devoted to the derivation of approximate equations governing acoustic pulses in flows with yieldstress, including some time-dependent flows with a slow dependence on time of yield stress and apparent viscosity. Moreover, forecasting of the shear plane angle for the cutting models, broaden possibilities of energetic effects...

However, it is generally recognized that cyclic shear testing will lead to the determination of parameters which are more closely linked to...
