Application of artificial neural networks (ANN) as multiple degradation classifiers in thermal and flow diagnostics
PublicationPrzedyskutowano problem zwiększenia dokładności rozpoznawania wielokrotnych degradacji eksploatacyjnych urządzeń składowych dużych obiektów energetycznych. Zastosowani sieć neuronową (SSN) o skokowych funkcjach przejścia. Sprawdzono możliwości przyspieszenia treningu sieci neuronowych. Zastosowano modułową metodę budowy SSN, polegającą na dedykowaniu pojedynczej sieci do rozpoznawania tylko jednego typu degradacji.

PublicationOmówiono zagadnienie realizacji infrastruktury teleinformatycznej dla sieci radiokomunikacyjnej pracującej przy użyciu technologii radia programowalnego(software radio). Przedstawiono koncepcję tworzenia takiej technologii, która w przyszłości zdominuje rynek usług telekomunikacyjnych. Poruszono problem kosztów budowy i wdrożenia, co ostatecznie zadecyduje o sukcesie rynkowym tego przedsięwzięcia.

Neural Network Application for Recognition of Geometry Degradation of Power Cycle Components
PublicationPrzedyskutowano problem rozpoznawania degradacji geometrycznej. Skuteczne zastosowanie wybranego typu sieci neuronowej (SSN) jest prezentowane w referacie. SSN wykrywająca typy degradacji geometrycznej wykazała wysoką jakość. Pokazano pewną możliwość ekstrapolacji takich SSN. Pokazano możliwość wykrywania typów degradacji geometrycznej nawet w przypadku pozyskiwania niepełnych danych pomiarowych.

On some open questions for Ramsey and Folkman numbers
PublicationWe discuss some of our favorite open questions about Ramsey numbers and a related problem on edge Folkman numbers. For the classical two-color Ramsey numbers, we first focus on constructive bounds for the difference between consecutive Ramsey numbers. We present the history of progress on the Ramsey number R(5,5) and discuss the conjecture that it is equal to 43.

Fourier transforms on Cantor sets: A study in non-Diophantine arithmetic and calculus
PublicationFractals equipped with intrinsic arithmetic lead to a natural definition of differentiation, integration, and complex structure. Applying the formalism to the problem of a Fourier transform on fractals we show that the resulting transform has all the required basic properties. As an example we discuss a sawtooth signal on the ternary middle-third Cantor set. The formalism works also for fractals that are not self-similar.

Two-Stage Identification of Locally Stationary Autoregressive Processes and its Application to the Parametric Spectrum Estimation
PublicationThe problem of identification of a nonstationary autoregressive process with unknown, and possibly time-varying, rate of parameter changes, is considered and solved using the parallel estimation approach. The proposed two-stage estimation scheme, which combines the local estimation approach with the basis function one, offers both quantitative and qualitative improvements compared with the currently used single-stage methods.

Bifurcation of equilibrium forms of an elastic rod on a two-parameter Winkler foundation
PublicationWe consider two-parameter bifurcation of equilibrium states of an elastic rod on a deformable foundation. Our main theorem shows that bifurcation occurs if and only if the linearization of our problem has nontrivial solutions. In fact our proof, based on the concept of the Brouwer degree, gives more, namely that from each bifurcation point there branches off a continuum of solutions.

Curb-to-Barrier Face Distance Variation an a TB51 Bridge Barrier Crash Test Simulation
PublicationThis paper addresses the problem of road safety regarding barrier placement as relative to the curb. A short summary of existing regulations is presented. Numerical simulations using the explicit finite element system Ls- Dyna are shown. In the analysis, variable distance between the barrier and the curb is assumed. The obtained result reveals that the distance has little impact on the working width of the barrier.

Regularized identification of fast time-varying systems - comparison of two regularization strategies
PublicationThe problem of identification of a time-varying FIR system is considered and solved using the local basis function approach. It is shown that the estimation (tracking) results can be improved by means of regularization. Estimation of wind pressure acting on the new palm house in Gdansk
PublicationThis paper deals with the problem of numerical simulations of wind loads acting on a Palm House with complex geometry. Flow simulations with aid of computational fluid dynamics procedures have been performed to check if the pressure distributions for the structure are greater than those calculated using the standard design codes with assumption that the Palm House horizontal cross sections are described by smooth cylinders.

Positive solutions to Sturm–Liouville problems with non-local boundary conditions
PublicationIn this paper, the existence of at least three non-negative solutions to non-local boundary-value problems for second-order differential equations with deviating arguments α and ζ is investigated. Sufficient conditions, which guarantee the existence of positive solutions, are obtained using the Avery–Peterson theorem. We discuss our problem for both advanced and delayed arguments. An example is added to illustrate the results.

PublicationRozważono problem wyznaczania sprawiedliwej liczby chromatycznej kaktusów i drzew wielokątowych bez trójkątów i krawędzi wiszących. Podano wielomianowy algorytm wyznaczający pokolorowanie optymalne, oparty na paradygmacie programowania dynamicznego. Tym samym znaleziona została kolejna klasa grafów planarnych, dla której kolorowanie sprawiedliwe jawi się jako zagadnienie obliczeniowo łatwe.

Jako kryterium porównawcze przyjęto fizykalne aspekty systemu (zmienność ruchu w czasie i przestrzeni)oraz charakterystyke przyjętej metody obliczeniowej. PublicationZ wydobyciem, transportem i przerobem ropy naftowej nieodłącznie wiąże się problem rozlewów olejowych, zarówno na wodzie, jak i na lądzie. Nowe regulacje prawne wymagają od przedsiębiorstw zajmujących się magazynowaniem i przewozem ropy naftowej posiadania planu ich likwidacji. PublicationW artykule zbadano problem replikacji stron dokonywanej w trybie on-line. Przedstawiono nowy randomizowany algorytm dla sieci pętlowych, który jest lepszy niż najlepszy dotąd znany. Poprawiono dolne oszacowania dla tego problemu. Pokazano możliwe rozszerzenia tego modelu przetwarzania. Pokazano, że prowadzi to do uproszczenia dowodów szeregu znanych twierdzeń.

PublicationW artykule przedstawiono zastosowanie algorytmów ewolucyjnych do projektowania filtrów cyfrowych IIR o nietypowych charakterystykach amplitudowych. Wprowadzono dwuwarstwowe chromosomy, które w bardziej naturalny sposób reprezentują opisywany problem (górna warstwa - licznik, dolna warstwa - mianownik funkcji transmitancji). Przy pomocy opisanej metody zaprojektowano filtr o niestandardowej charakterystyce amplitudowej.

PublicationW pracy przedstawiono koncepcje systemu wywołania w niebezpieczeństwie (wołania alarmowego o pomoc) w morskiej strefie przybrzeżnej, opartego o infrastrukturę telekomunikacyjną operatora sieci komórkowej. Omówiono zasady współpracy systemu telefonii komórkowej z Ratowniczym Centrum Koordynacyjnym w systemie GMDSS. Poruszono też problem lokalizowania telefonu komórkowego na morzu.

PublicationW pracy zwrócono uwagę na problem przechowywania różnych postaci muzyki występujących w cyfrowych dokumentach muzycznych. Przedstawiono ogólną charakterystykę istniejących formatów zapisu danych muzycznych oraz wybrane cyfrowe formaty muzyczne. Przedstawiono również propozycję stworzenia uniwersalnego formatu opisu danych muzycznych w oparciu o istniejący standard MPEG-7.

Bifurkacje w zagadnieniu von Karmana dla prostokątnej płyty na podłożu nieliniowo-sprężystym
PublicationW pracy przedstawiono problem wyboczenia płyty prostokątnej spoczywającej na nieliniowo sprężystym podłożu. Wykorzystano do tego celu sformułowanie podane przez von Karmana. Wyznaczono krytyczne parametry układu prowadzące do jego bifurkacji oraz zbadano stan pokrytyczny. Podano typy podłoża nieliniowego, dla których mogą wystąpić niestateczne stany równowagi.

Direct detection of quantum entanglement
PublicationBasing on positive maps separability criterion we propose the experimentally viable, direct detection of quantum entanglement. It is efficient and does not require any a priori knowledge about the state. For two qubits it provides a sharp (i.e., “if and only if”) separability test and estimation of amount of entanglement. We view this method as a new form of quantum computation, namely, as a decision problem with quantum data structure.

Bada konwergencje cen w okresie 1992-2001 na podstawie indeksu poziomu cen obliczanego za pomocą parytetu siły nabywczej. Na tym tle ukazany został problem poziomu cen w krajach kandydujących w tym także w Polsce.
