PCR melting profile (PCR MP) - a new tool for differentiation of Candida albicans strains
PublicationPo raz pierwszy przedstawiliśmy użyteczność techniki PCR MP opartej na metodzie ligacji adaptorów (LM PCR) i obniżonej temperaturze denaturacji w cyklach PCR do wewnątrzgatunkowego różnicowania szczepów Candida albicans. Przebadaliśmy 123 szczepy Candida albicans z zastosowaniem trzech metod genotypowania: PCR MP, REA-PFGE i RAPD i uzyskaliśmy odpowiednio 27, 26 i 25 unikalnych genotypów. Zaprezentowane dane pokazały, że technika...

Do new EU members have any chance of earning as much as Westerns do?
PublicationThis article examines the wage dispersion in the European Union in the last ten years (1996-2006). The research is motivated by the fact that New Members States (NMS) expected that wage convergence would occurred after their accession to the EU. At the same time Old Member States (OMS) have been increasingly concerned with the possibility that the EU enlargement could influence their local labor markets and wages through new channels...

A new approach to active noise and vibration control - [Part I: the known frequency case]
PublicationThis paper presents a new approach to rejection of complex-valued sinusoidal disturbances acting at the output of a discrete-time stable linear plant with unknown dynamics. It is assumed that the frequency of the sinusoidal disturbance is known, and that the output signal is contaminated with wideband measurement noise. The disturbance rejection control rule is first derived and analyzed for a nominal plant model, different from...

A new approach to active noise and vibration control - [Part II: unknown frequency case]
PublicationThis paper presents a new approach to rejection of complex-valued sinusoidal disturbances acting at the output of a discrete-time stable linear plant with unknown and possibly timevarying dynamics. It is assumed that both the instantaneous frequency of the sinusoidal disturbance and its amplitude may be slowly varying with time and that the output signal is contaminated with wideband measurement noise. It is not assumed that a...

A Reaction of Thioamides with Zinc Ammoniates Leading to Simple Amidines. Discovery of a New Zwitterionic Monomethylamidine
PublicationThe reaction of thioamides with the R1R2N-ZnCl ammoniates leads to N-mono-, N,N'-di-, N,N-disubstituted, and unsubstituted amidines with high concns. of amines in abs. ethanol. The efficient direct formation of the N,N'-dimethylamidine can be explained by a greater reactivity of methylamine compared with dimethylamine. Discovery of a new zwitterion (induced by a carbonyl oxygen) suggests that the stabilization in the thymine...

Forced degradation studies of ivabradine and in silico toxicology predictions for its new designated impurities
PublicationAll activities should aim to eliminate genotoxic impurities and/or protect the API againstdegradation. There is a necessity to monitor impurities from all classification groups, hence ivabradine forced degradation studies were performed. Ivabradine was provedto be quite durable active substance, but still new and with insufficient stability data.Increased temperature, acid, base, oxidation reagents and...

Incorporation of nitrogen in diamond films - A new way of tuning parameters for optical passive elements
PublicationThis paper investigates the impact of nitrogen incorporation in diamond films for the construction of an interferometric sensor to measure displacement. Diamond films with different nitrogen levels (0–5%) were deposited on silicon substrates by microwave plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition. The structural characteristics of these samples are characterized using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), atomic force microscopy...

SLIDING MODE-PID FUZZY CONTROLLER WITH A NEW REACHING MODE FOR UNDERWATER ROBOTIC MANIPULATORS
PublicationDesign of an accurate and robust controller is a challenging topic in an underwater manipulator control. This is due to hydrodynamic disturbances in underwater environment. In this paper a sliding mode control (SMC) included a PID sliding surface and fuzzy tunable gain is designed. In this proposed controller robustness property of SMC and fast response of PID are incorporated with fuzzy rules to reduce error tracking. In the...

A new procedure for the determination of distillation temperature distribution of high-boiling petroleum products and fractions
PublicationThe distribution of distillation temperatures of liquid and semi-fluid products, including petroleum fractions and products, is an important process and practical parameter. It provides information on properties of crude oil and content of particular fractions, classified on the basis of their boiling points, as well as the optimum conditions of atmospheric or vacuum distillation. At present, the distribution of distillation temperatures...

A new model of fuel spray shape at early stage of injection in a marine Diesel engine
PublicationIn the cylinders of a marine diesel engine, self-ignition occurs in very shortly time after the fuel injection into the combustion chamber. Therefore, the paper present was to develop a model of diesel fuel spray for the early stage of fuel spray for in marine diesel engine. There were taken into consideration the main aspects technical such as nozzle diameter of marine engine injector and backpressure in combustion chamber. In...

Personal Branding—A New Competency in the Era of the Network Economy. Corporate Brand Performance Implications
PublicationPrimary assets of the network economy are information, network, re-lationships, knowledge, and a virtual environment. The competency of personal branding exercised by knowledge workers, also thought of as knowledge producers, is becoming a natural consequence of the business environment where the significance of hierarchies is constantly decreasing. Knowledge workers are powerful as never be-fore and can exist as separate actors...

CONSUMERS’ APPROACH TO THE CREDIBILITY OF THE INFLATION FORECASTS PUBLISHED BY CENTRAL BANKS: A NEW METHODOLOGICAL SOLUTION
PublicationModern monetary policy focuses on credibility and shaping inflation expectations. In keeping with the concept of inflation forecast targeting, the inflation forecasts published by central banks play a crucial role in the instrument rate decision-making process and may be treated as a specific intermediate target. This study proposes an inflation forecast credibility index, the scope of which is narrowed to non-specialists’ approach...
