The spindle speed optimal control as a mean of chatter vibration surveillance
Wyniki symulacji komputerowych potwierdziły praktyczne uzasadnienie proponowanej metody. Drgania...

Prediction of the Results of Chatter Vibration Surveillance by the Spindle Speed Control
PublicationDrgania samowzbudne typu chatter są istotnym zjawiskiem występującym podczas obróbki szybkościowej (HSM) z użyciem smukłych narzędzi. Zastosowanie optymlano-liniowego sterowania prędkością obrotową narzędzia w celu nadzorowania drgań pozwoliło zredukowac te drgania. W artykule przedstawiono sposób predykcji rezultatów nadzorowania z użyciem dwóch różnch modeli dynamiki skrawania zastosowanych w symulacjach komputerowych.

Fast clutter cancellation for noise radars via waveform design
PublicationCanceling clutter is an important, but very expensive part of signal processing in noise radars. It is shown that considerable improvements can be made to a simple least squares canceler if minor constraints are imposed onto noise waveform. Using a combination of FPGA and CPU, the proposed scheme is capable of canceling both stationary clutter and moving targets in real-time, even for high sampling rates.

Mineral and Organic Matter Constituents in Weak Interfaces in Shales
PublicationThis paper identifies formation interfaces that would appear to be "weak interfaces", in the Jurassic, Early- Cretaceous Vaca Muerta formation, in the Neuquén Basin, Argentina. Significant distribution of the weak interfaces was observed including contacts between volcanic ash layers of varying thicknesses, calcite-filled veins, and contacts between lithology changes, such as between argillaceous mudstone and mottled carbonates....

Three solvers for MIMO noise radar clutter cancellation - a performance comparison
PublicationThe problem of canceling strong clutter echos in a MIMO noise radar is considered. Execution times of three algorithms is compared. The first solution is a standard Least Squares approach employing Cholesky decomposition of the transmitted signal sample autocorrelation matrix. The second approach is based on careful waveform design which guarantees that the signal sample autocorrelation matrix has Toeplitz structure. This enables...

Process arrival pattern aware algorithms for acceleration of scatter and gather operations
PublicationImbalanced process arrival patterns (PAPs) are ubiquitous in many parallel and distributed systems, especially in HPC ones. The collective operations, e.g. in MPI, are designed for equal process arrival times (PATs), and are not optimized for deviations in their appearance. We propose eight new PAP-aware algorithms for the scatter and gather operations. They are binomial or linear tree adaptations introducing additional process...

The statistical impact of experimental result scatter of asphalt mixtures on their numerical modelling
PublicationThe paper presents selected test results of asphalt mixture conducted in low temperatures. The obtained parameters are highly diverse. It concerns ultimate breaking loads, stiffness parameters related to Young's modulus but also the fracture course. Statistical analysis upon the results makes it possible to relevantly estimate the material-defining parameter values. Such a random approach leads to the mean values of breaking and...

The condition of economies. Do most valuable global brands matter?
PublicationResearch background: Brands are considered to be the most valuable asset of a company. Some of them achieve spectacular global results. The significance of global brands is proved by the fact that their value is often greater than the sum of all company’s net assets. Purpose of the article: The aim of this article is to highlight that brand value does not only create company’s value, but also leverages economies. The Authors claim...

LattE- first-principles lattice energy calculations
PublicationCrystal engineering is currently attracting much interest. Its aim is to create materials of predefined properties fulfilling the requirements imposed by the applications. There are several parameters describing crystal structures, but the most important one is probably the energy of a crystal lattice. It is the energy released by the system when crystalline solid is formed out of molecules or ions in gaseous phase. Approximate...
