Evolutionary approach to solving multi-ship encounter situations
PublikacjaW artykule wprowadzono nowe podejście do rozwiązywania sytuacji spotkań wielu statków poprzez połączenie założeń teorii gier z programowaniem ewolucyjnym.

Designing Control and Protection Systems with Regard to Integrated Functional Safety and Cybersecurity Aspects
PublikacjaThis article addresses current problems of risk analysis and probabilistic modelling for functional safety management in the life cycle of safety-related systems. Two main stages in the lifecycle of these systems are distinguished, namely the design and operation. The risk analysis and probabilistic modelling differ in these stages in view of available knowledge and data. Due to the complexity and uncertainty involved, both qualitative...

Modification of current-voltage characteristics of planar organic systems by nm-thick interlayer
PublikacjaEffect of nm-thick interlayer of copper phthalocyanine (CuPc) or perylene dye (MePTCDI) on current-voltage characteristics of planar organic systems is discussed in the work. The MePTCDI layer strongly limits injection of holes from ITO into CuPc, while CuPc limits injection of electrons from ITO into MePTCDI. In the systems with CuPc/MePTCDI heterojunction an explicit photovoltaic effect occurs.

Hybrid quantum-classical approach for atomistic simulation of metallic systems
PublikacjaThe learn-on-the-fly (LOTF) method [G. Csanyi et al., Phys. Rev. Lett. 93, 175503 (2004)] serves to seamlessly embed quantum-mechanical computations within a molecular-dynamics framework by continual local retuning of the potential's parameters so that it reproduces the quantum-mechanical forces. In its current formulation, it is suitable for systems where the interaction is short-ranged, such as covalently bonded semiconductors....

New kinematic systems in single-sided lapping and their influence on lap wear
PublikacjaPrevious studies on one-sided lapping allow to state that not only parameters of lapping elements (i.e. properties of workpiece, abrasive grains and lapping plate) impact on a lapping efficiency. Influential are also kinematics and dynamics of the process. It is crucial to control an average velocity of lapping (v), a distribution of tangential acceleration (at), a nominal pressure (p), a lapping time (t) and disposal of workpiece...

Levels of 13 multi-class pesticide residues in Polish honeys determined by LC-ESI-MS/MS
PublikacjaLevels of 13 pesticides in 40 honey samples form Poland are reported. A rapid and sensitive method was developed for the LC-ESI-MS/MS determination of multi-class pesticide residues in honey samples. Liquid-liquid extraction (LLE) on a diatomaceous earth support (requiring the use of small amounts of organic solvent), followed by chromatographic separation on a C18 column and gradient elution were employed. The method quantifies...

EM-Driven Multi-Objective Optimization of a Generic Monopole Antenna by Means of a Nested Trust-Region Algorithm
PublikacjaAntenna structures for modern applications are characterized by complex and unintuitive topologies that are difficult to develop when conventional experience-driven techniques are of use. In this work, a method for automatic generation of antenna geometries in a multi-objective setup has been proposed. The approach involves optimization of a generic spline-based radiator with adjustable number of parameters using a nested trust-region-based...

Topical delivery of pharmaceutical and cosmetic macromolecules using microemulsion systems
PublikacjaMicroemulsions are transparent, thermodynamically stable colloidal systems. Over the recent years, they have been increasingly investigated due to their potential as skin delivery vehicles for a wide range of drug molecules. The nanoscale particle size and the specificity of microemulsion components are the main features determining the skin permeation process. However, in order to effectively cross the skin barrier, the active...

Multi-objective optimization of compact UWB impedance matching transformers using Pareto front exploration and adjoint sensitivities
PublikacjaIn this paper, a technique for fast multi-objective optimization of impedance matching transformers has been presented. In our approach, a set of alternative designs that represent the best possible trade-offs between conflicting objectives (here, the maximum reflection level within a frequency band of interest and the circuit size) is identified by directly exploring the Pareto front. More specifically, the subsequent Pareto-optimal...

Identification of continuous systems - Practical issues of insensitivity to perturbations
PublikacjaIn this paper the issue of continuous systems estimation, insensitive to certain perturbations, is discussed. Such an approach has rational advantages, especially when robust schemes are used to assist a target system responsible for industrial diagnostics. This requires that estimated model parameters are generated on-line, and their values are reliable and to a great extent accurate. Practical hints are suggested to challenge...
