The phenomenon of rurality: the case of Poland
PublikacjaWieś była przez stulecia źródłem kultury polskiej. Wojny światowe i okres komunistycznego totalitaryzmu przyniosły ogromne straty w dziedzictwie kulturowym wsi. Transformacja ustrojowa i skrajny liberalizm gospodarki przestrzennej powodują dalszą degradację tego dziedzictwa. Podstawowe problemy ochrony dziedzictwa kulturowego wsi to słabość przepisów prawnych, zanik tożsamości kulturowej wsi, brak strategii kształtowania krajobrazu...

Exergy analysis of the Szewalski cycle with a waste heat recovery system
PublikacjaThe conversion of a waste heat energy to electricity is now becoming one of the key points to improve the energy efficiency in a process engineering. However, large losses of a low-temperature thermal energy are also present in power engineering. One of such sources of waste heat in power plants are exhaust gases at the outlet of boilers. Through usage of a waste heat regeneration system it is possible to attain a heat rate of approximately...

Conceptual design of shore station for an innovative waste collecting vessel
PublikacjaMarine environment protection legislation in the EU requires ships to return waste they generate on voyages to waste-reception facilities in ports. In many harbors there is a need to expand the port infrastructure to enable the operation of Waste Collecting Vessels (WCVs). In addition, these vessels can perform new functions of cleaning port basins and adjacent waterways. A novelty in the presented research on the conceptual design...

A modern solid waste management strategy – the generation of new by-products
PublikacjaTo benefit the environment and society, EU legislation has introduced a ‘zero waste’ strategy, in which waste material should be converted to resources. Such legislation is supported by the solid waste hierarchy concept, which is a set of priorities in waste management. Under this concept, municipal solid waste plants (MSWPs) should be equipped with sorting and recycling facilities, composting/incineration units and landfill prisms...

Cross-Bonding of MV Cable Lines for Energy Losses Decrease
PublikacjaCurrently, almost all medium voltage cable lines (MV) operate with the return wires earthed at both ends of the cable. Such a way of operation causes that during normal states of operation as well as during disturbances, e.g. short-circuits, in the return wires induce currents whose values mainly depend on the currents flowing in the phase wires. These currents in normal operating states are a source of additional energy losses...
