Development of planning education in postcommunist Poland.
PublikacjaAlthough programs in spatial planning at university level have been developed in Poland only after the transformation of 1989, their roots can be traced back to the first half of the twentieth century when the first university departments with a focus on urban and regional planning were established and courses offered. Today, planning education in Poland presents a robust yet dynamic picture with degrees offered by a range of both...

Electricity Supplier Switching Process in Poland – a Process Based on the General Distribution Agreement
PublikacjaPoland, as a Member State of the European Union, is committed to respect the common rules on the electricity market, among other things. One of the most important examples of these regulations is the perception of energy as a commodity subject to competitive market mechanisms. Competitive processes introduced in the national electricity market enable energy consumers, i.a., choice of electricity supplier under the TPA formula....

Tacit knowledge awareness and sharing as a focal part of knowledge production, Polish-US view on IT, healthcare, and construction industry
PublikacjaIn the knowledge economy era, knowledge production and dissemination are of key interest to individuals, organizations, and economies. Tacit knowledge results from experience, leading to innovation. The learning culture can facilitate the transformation of errors into experiences. This study explores whether mistake acceptance facilitates tacit knowledge awareness and sharing in the information technology, healthcare, and construction...

Integrating heterogeneous systems with high-dependability requirements by means of web services
PublikacjaWeb services are commonly used on boundaries of heterogeneous components in Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) as they provide a universal communication channel not bound to any particular programming language or run-time platform. This paper describes how web services can be used to integrate heterogeneous systems which serve purposes requiring high dependability, reliability and availability. Examples of such systems include...

Graph classes generated by Mycielskians
PublikacjaIn this paper we use the classical notion of weak Mycielskian M'(G) of a graph G and the following sequence: M'_{0}(G) =G, M'_{1}(G)=M'(G), and M'_{n}(G)=M'(M'_{n−1}(G)), to show that if G is a complete graph oforder p, then the above sequence is a generator of the class of p-colorable graphs. Similarly, using Mycielskian M(G) we show that analogously defined sequence is a generator of the class consisting of graphs for which the...

Instantaneous Heating and Cooling Caused by Periodic or Aperiodic Sound of Any Characteristic Duration in a Gas with Vibrational Relaxation
PublikacjaThermodynamic relaxation of internal degrees of a molecule's freedom in a gas occurs with some characteristic time. This makes wave processes in a gas behave differently depending on the ratio of characteristic duration of perturbations and the relaxation time. In particular, generation of the secondary non-wave modes by intense sound in a nonlinear flow dependens on frequency. These kinds of interaction are considered in this...

Removal of organic matter and nitrogen in an horizontalsubsurface flow (HSSF) constructed wetland undertransient loads
PublikacjaA monitoring campaign in a horizontal subsurface flow constructed wetland under the influence of transient loads of flow-rate, organic matter, nitrogen and suspended solids showed an irregular removal of COD and TSS and lower both removal efficiencies and mass removal rates than the ones observed in other studies for similar operating conditions. Mitigation of Fake Data Content Poisoning Attacks in NDN via Blockchain
PublikacjaAbstract—Information-centric networks struggle with content poisoning attacks (CPAs), especially their stronger form called Fake Data CPA, in which an intruder publisher uploads content signed with stolen credentials. Following an existing graphinfection based approach leveraging the constrained time when stolen credentials are useful, we design a blockchain-based mitigation scheme for Named Data Networking architectures. We postulate...

Frequency based criterion for distinguishing tonal and noisy spectral components
PublikacjaA frequency-based criterion for distinguishing tonal and noisy spectral components is proposed. For considered spectral local maximum two instantaneous frequency estimates are determined and the difference between them is used in order to verify whether component is noisy or tonal. Polynomial Algorithm for Minimal (1,2)-Dominating Set in Networks
PublikacjaDominating sets find application in a variety of networks. A subset of nodes D is a (1,2)-dominating set in a graph G=(V,E) if every node not in D is adjacent to a node in D and is also at most a distance of 2 to another node from D. In networks, (1,2)-dominating sets have a higher fault tolerance and provide a higher reliability of services in case of failure. However, finding such the smallest set is NP-hard. In this paper, we...
