Challenges associated with development of AUV - unmanned autonomous underwater vehicles to be operated using the AI-based control systems
PublicationThe last decade has been devoted towards further development of the UUV unmanned underwater vehicles which may be of two types. There are the USV unmanned surface vehicles and UUV unmanned underwater vehicles. There is a growing interest to work out and implement the fully advanced AUV autonomous underwater vehicles. The main drivers towards development of such the vehicles are the technologies of autonomous systems, sensors and...

Medium-Voltage Drives: Challenges and existing technology
PublicationThe article presents an overview of state-of-art solutions, advances, and design and research trends in medium-voltage (MV) drive technologies - and also discusses the challenges and requirements associated with the use of such drives. The choice and deployment of MV drives in industries are associated with numerous requirements related to the front-end converter (grid side) and inverter (machine side). The focus is on solutions...

Surface treatment of C80U steel by long CO2 laser pulses
PublicationThe paper presents the results of laser-melted C80U steel. The processed steel was placed between two permanent magnets and laser beam whose scanning velocity was 10 mm/s. CO2 laser beam was working in pulse mode. Pulses were generated at 100% of the average preset power of 700W, with 45 ms irradiation, zero interval between pulses and beginning of pulse repetition upon the achievement of the average laser power. During the operation,...

Entrepreneurship Today: Selected Aspects
PublicationAt its very beginning, entrepreneurship was a purely economic notion. However, this growing interest in entrepreneurship-related problems prompted other sciences to participate in explaining the entrepreneurship phenomenon. Nowadays, entrepreneurship is analyzed through multiple theoretical lenses of economics, management, psychology, sociology – just to name a few. Therefore, it would be difficult to find a notion that could be...

Polish Academic Libraries in the Face of the Covid-19 Pandemic: Crisis Management and Communication within the Organisation
PublicationThe developing SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus pandemic, which was announced in March 2020, has had a significant impact on the activities of universities and their academic libraries. The article aims to present the activities of academic libraries at the time of introducing restrictions on their activities and closing for several months to users and reformulating the services they provide, on the example of the Library of the Gdańsk University...

Understanding ion–ion and ion–solvent interactions in aqueous solutions of morpholinium ionic liquids with N-acetyl-L-alaninate anion through partial molar properties and molecular dynamics simulations
PublicationAmino acid ionic liquids (AAILs) provide a low toxicity, biodegradable alternative to conventional ionic liquids, while also maintaining solubility in water. Densities and sound velocities of aqueous solutions of four amino acid ionic liquids (AAILs), based on the N-alkyl-N-methylmorpholinium ([Mor1,R], R = 2, 3, 6, 8) cation and N-acetyl-L-alaninate ([N-Ac-L-Ala]) anion were measured at T = (293.15–313.15) K and at atmospheric...

Performance Analysis and Quantification of BeiDou Navigation Satellite System (BDS-3)
PublicationPositioning, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) information play a vital role in everyday life of common persons. People greatly rely on Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS)-enabled applications for navigation to reach their desired destination. However, GNSS navigation performance is highly degraded in urban environments due to the high probability of signal interruption, multipath (MP), and/or non-line-of-sight (NLOS) signal...

Improving Thermal Insulation Properties for Prefabricated Wall Components Made of Lightweight Aggregate Concrete with Open Structure
PublicationPorous concrete is commonly used in civil engineering due to its good thermal insulation properties in comparison with normal concrete and high compression strength in comparison with other building materials. An extremely porous concrete, called ‘lightweight aggregate concrete with open structure’ (LAC), is used in some German plants to produce prefabricated wall components. They are used mainly in hall buildings, e.g. supermarkets....

The influence of chitosan hydrogel cross-linking by agarose on coating physico-chemical properties
Open Research DataThis dataset contains various physicochemical analyses showing the effect of different concentration of chitosan and the cross-linking agent agarose. Each sample is labeled by C and A representing chitosan and agarose concentrations, respectively, while the exact amounts are depicted in the attached table. Fourier-transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy...

Experimental investigation of the weight averaging of pulse frequency modulated sensor output signal
Open Research DataThe research aims to practically verify the results of theoretical analysis and simulations of the efficiency of weight averaging of pulse frequency modulated signal. For this purpose, a suitable test stand was built, and the control software in the LabVIEW environment was prepared. Then, a series of experiments were carried out to process and analyze...
