Cascade Object Detection and Remote Sensing Object Detection Method Based on Trainable Activation Function
PublicationObject detection is an important process in surveillance system to locate objects and it is considered as major application in computer vision. The Convolution Neural Network (CNN) based models have been developed by many researchers for object detection to achieve higher performance. However, existing models have some limitations such as overfitting problem and lower efficiency in small object detection. Object detection in remote...

Exact modal absorbing boundary condition for waveguide simulations - discrete Green's function approach
PublicationA modal absorbing boundary condition (ABC) based on the discrete Green's function (DGF) is introduced and applied for termination of waveguides simulated by means of the finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method. The differences between the developed approach and implementations already demonstrated in the literature are presented. By applying DGF, a consistent theoretical approach to modal ABC in the FDTD method is obtained....

Simulation model for assessment of IMS-based NGN call processing performance
PublicationIn current telecommunications it is assumed that demands of information society for quickly delivered services will be satisfied by Next Generation Network (NGN) architecture, which includes IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) elements. Evaluation and cellular responses of modulators of TRF1/TRF2 protein’s function as potential anticancer drugs interfering with telomeric shelterin’s function
PublicationA number of proteins that interact with telomeres have been identified in human cells, indicating the high plasticity of human nucleoprotein complex organization. The most important complex is the "shelterin" complex, which consists of six proteins: TRF1, TRF2, TIN2, POT1, TPP1. The TRF1 and TRF2 directly bind to telomeric double-stranded DNA and the TIN2 protein. The TIN2 protein also binds to the TPP1 protein, stabilizing the...

Analysis of the regenerative braking process for the urban traffic conditions
PublicationIn a regular drive system, with an internal combustion engine, vehicle braking is connected with the unproductive dissipation of kinetic and potential energy accumulated in the mass of the vehicle into the environment. This energy can constitute up to 70% of the energy used to drive a vehicle under urban conditions. Its recovery and reuse is one of the basic advantages of hybrid and electric vehicles. Modern traffic management...

Rubrene Thin Films with Viably Enhanced Charge Transport Fabricated by Cryo-Matrix-Assisted Laser Evaporation
PublicationAmong organic semiconductors, rubrene (RB; C42H28) is of rapidly growing interest for the development of organic and hybrid electronics due to exceptionally long spin diffusion length and carrier mobility up to 20 cm2V−1s−1 in single crystals. However, the fabrication of RB thin films resembling properties of the bulk remains challenging, mainly because of the RB molecule’s twisted conformation. This hinders the formation of orthorhombic...

Enhancing electrochemical properties of an ITO-coated lossy-mode resonance optical fiber sensor by electrodeposition of PEDOT:PSS
PublicationA sensor working in multiple domains may offer enhanced information about the properties of an investigated analyte, including those containing biological species. One of mechanisms, which can support QoS in current packet networks, is routing. There exist many routing proposals which should introduce the QoS into the network but practically they don't. Following paper presents the realization of simulation model for evaluation of a new routing algorithm DUMBRA...

The sensor has been used to optical measurements also simultaneously interrogated electrochemically (EC). Due to optimized thickness and optical properties of ITO film, a lossy-mode resonance (LMR) could be observed in the optical domain, where electrical properties of the film...

The productive function of the will in the pfilosophical thought of William James
Z kolei podkreśliłem walor konsekwencji teleologicznej cechy ludzkiej...

First-order differential equations with nonlocal boundary conditions
PublicationWe study a first-order boundary value problem subject to some boundary conditions given by Riemann-Stieltjes integrals. Using a monotone iterative method, we formulate sufficient conditions which guarantee the existence of extremal or quasi-solutions in the corresponding region bounded by upper and lower solutions of our problems. The case when a unique solution exists is also investigated. Some examples are given to illustrate...

Co-simulation strategy of transient CFD and heat transfer in building thermal envelope based on calibrated heat transfer coefficients
PublicationThe paper presents a strategy to develop a fully transient numerical model of a heat transfer in building, using a transient CFD model of indoor air and a thermal envelope model, running in a co-simulation. The strategy relies on the utilization of RANS with a high-Re turbulence model and a wall function, which enables to use a coarse computational mesh limiting the computational time. Since wall functions give invalid heat transfer...
